Excellent shots Ben, you have caught the 'mood' just right of a business like fleet of rollers doing their job, each one knows what to do and he is doing it just right. One peculiarity about all these 'large' rollers that I don't know, - is what is the 'cone' shaped round metal piece for that sticks out (usually) at the end of one of the 'roller' axles.
What a noise with vibration on, this indicates the vibration power is way too high, if drum ringing occurs you need to adjust the vibration energy untill the vibration system makes no sharp sound anymore or change to static compaction. When you hear the drum ringing you know that the asphalt is not responding to vibration.
Ich kann mich noch an die Asphalt Walzen mit Gummireifen erinnern. So was sieht man überhaupt nicht mehr. Ich denke das sie auch nicht diese hohe Verdichtung nicht erreichen.

Well, that cone shaped round metal piece is a cutter and edge-pusher.

Was wird den eigentlich da drauf gestreut?
Abstreusplitt, damit die Oberfläche rauer wird. Ansonsten wäre die Oberfläche glatt und ein Bremsen erheblich erschwert.
