Em's point in this song is that in that era the people did not really care what happend in the hood. They did even not care about school shootings in the hood but like he said they did care the moment when it happend in there own upper class city. So he said that the same as you, all school shootings are bad.
And the point he made in the song where is telling things from the point of a concert shooter (Darkness) is that even if very bad things happen that people most of the time did forget about it after a week. (But the song also has a double meaning.)

Dude, even today you get shamed for trying to get out of the hood. It’s crazy, I’ve actually lost friends myself because I “changed too much” (aka; wasn’t as reckless as I was at 17 focused on education and got a job etc) all of them are either single mothers, in jail, or selling weed in cul-de-sacs and council flats.

@@MD44-s6p The point is not that they all school shootings are bad but that a lot of people didn't care about school shootings in the hood. It is sad that Em had to make the point that they only started to care when it happened in a higher class city.

Not only was Eminem talking about how you shouldn't look at the lyrics, songs, music videos or whatever for a kid or young teens behavior, He was also saying how are people...parents especially blaming him for the actions of their own kids. He was really giving the parents the truth bomb because it's their job to monitor what their kid watches or hears so that's just another olive branch to Eminem's point but, it's the one he was really trying to get across, stick it to the parents bc their responsibility not His. Love the reaction keep it up :)

Was he referencing the columbine school shooting? Cuz I heard that somewhere but I’m not too sure

@@lexusgrace6748 I think the Columbine school shooting was part of it as well. I'm pretty positive that's why he had Marilyn Manson in the video too since he was another artist getting backlash about the shooting like Eminem

Great song. Don't condone some of the language. (I've heard Dan Vasc use the same language often, sadly.) But Eminem writes what he knows and he's extremely talented. I appreciate what he says in this one. Excellent reaction, Maria.

If your raised properly by good parents then the music can’t influence you to be a maniac I grew up on Eminem even as a kid and I couldn’t kill a fly, if a kid is crazy enough to shoot up a school then just like Eminem said where were there parents at as when you do something as crazy as that then it’s not the influence from the music but rather the up bringing and trauma your brought up into

    • @TrueSlice

They only blame the artists because when ever there is opitunity to make money they will sue to get paid as they can’t sue the parents or the school when they can sue Eminem and hit the jackpot

Great reaction... I don't believe artists and their lyrics are to blame for mass shootings in the United States. I say the United States because, unfortunately, it's one of the only countries where this phenomenon occurs. There are murders everywhere, but mass shootings in public places seem to be a uniquely American issue. Both Marilyn Manson and Eminem are listened to worldwide. The problem you guys have (and I know it's a very controversial topic in your country for some reason) is the freedom to obtain guns. It's not a mental health issue, it's not about what kids see, it's not about anything else-the only problem is the ease of buying an AK-47. Separate comment apparently Eminem suffers from social anxiety

But it’s not rappers job to teach your children how to behave, what’s right and what’s wrong, they’re purely doing it for entertainment. It’s the parents job to teach that what people talk about in songs, is purely entertainment and they’re not doing any of these things in real life, You can’t hold a rapper responsible for the actions of your child, it’s your responsibility to raise them right and teach them what’s right and wrong.

Filters change the original content and allows it to be aired. I have to do that whenever YT blocks the song in it's entirety.

Everything is a influence with your logic, right? Listening to music does influence people, worshipping Satan would be a cult, any religion really, people are just stupid, and there will always be the "dumb" ones
