Thomas Wils in a way the death of generals 2 foreshadowed how EA fucked up star wars battlefront 1 and 2 by implementing free to play features into the games and thinking that it was a good thing to ditch single player story modes
True ive been playing C&C when i was 4 back in the 90's, seen's the original. I could say it's the first RTS ive ever played along with age of empires.
A shocker, EA just wanted to take your money and didn't care if it was twisting your favorite game series to do that. Still can't believe this game was so close to being finished and they just threw it away. o_0
Like all black holes, they just suck in everything, and give nothing back, i wonder what would have happened if something like Westwood had steered clear of them? Would it have been a better gaming world? Or would Westwood have degenerated into the same decadence over such a long time.
EA was always about the money, why do you think their games were never as deeply as good and interesting as of the other smaller companies? They are just like microsoft, they make a product as good and as useful as possible to get as many sales as possible by trying to control the gaming market through heavy advertisement and buying smaller but much more successful companies than EA. They don't care about the interest of the game itself, they care about the sales.
We don't want micro payments. We want a decent single player game with LAN multi player options. And short story driven content showing unit abilities. Seems pretty simple why can't they get it in their heads?
Everything that was ever made in the game industry was made for earning money. The game industry is big business. I am not trying to protect EA, but they are good at earning and raising more money. As long as players buy any of EA products, EA will stick to their tactics and plans to produce more similar games, micro-transactions, “f2p”-so-called games, etc. Just stop buying and supporting any EA game (Origin too). It seems pretty simple but why players can't get it in their heads?
@@BakerDoge because players, like customers in many industries, look only from their own perspective, as what suits them, and less for profit or what is convenient for a company. For every "this would be a good feature or move for the product", there is a "how much do I earn for it?" For example, in the bar I work, some people would like icecream, and would probably pay for it, but there is a store literally 20 steps away from the bar where you can buy more icecream and at a cheaper price. And they also don't consider the effort to get a container to keep the icecream cold, and how much it would cost. Basically, gamers don't get economics, but what else is new?
@@BakerDoge The problem is that its hard to get people interested in new IPs. Im looking forward to Tempest Risimg and Stormgate, but I also know that EA can easily pimp out a C&C gane for a quick buck. Just recently they released all the C&C games on Steam and, of course, people bought. I am sickened by what EA did to C&C, but I know its an uphill battle for any spiritual successor to get peoples interest. .... I do wish more people had played Grey Goo.
EA: Hey, make something fans like Victory: Here's a traditional game that fans like EA: Nah this won't work, make it a f2p because f2p is the future Victory: The fans won't like this EA: Nah, they'll love it! Victory: We made this f2p game as you requested EA: The fans didn't like it wtf you're fired- wait... reassigned... damn labor laws. Victory: rolls eyes at 200 mph
it was a super retarded idea to make a shitty f2p/p2w generals game. whoever had this idea is someone who doesn't know anything about games, who doesn't play games. someone who only thinks of it as a business, a money grab scheme and nothing else. God I can't express how pissed off I am that this game was turned into shit and then cancelled altogether...
@@tugrulserhat I mean not really, it makes sense given the generals mechanic and the average singleplayer Generals had. FWIW I hate F2P games but it is not the reason this game was cancelled.
@@TECsta76 Free-To-Play does not HAVE to be bad. Dota2 has the PERFECT f2p model: You gain no power-up or gaming-advantage if you pay. You can only buy Skins and Access to statistics. If they made it like Total War Warhammer that would also be fine. In the beginning you get 2-3 factions but for additional factions/generals you have to pay. You could make them rather cheap and very tedious to "farm" without cash, so most People just buy them and really poor People can grind them to strengthen the Player base. However if you start upgrading single Units for cash-only, that gives the same faction a disadvantage against someone with more Money in a Mirror. That's a fat no-no. Then you can also not Judge the power of a unit anymore because you don't know how much Money he spent, making it not competitively viable. After a Little bit of grinding (not months worth) a Mirror-match between faction A and faction A Needs to ALWAYS be perfectly balanced. Otherwise you will never have a competitve, popular game.
This video was a play by play of how EA tries to reign in the fans for as much money and little effort as possible. Phase 1: Great game people love. Phase 2: Dumb it down and make it more appealing to a wider audience, alienating your current fan base. Phase 3: Blame the failure of the game on the fans and scrap the studio, release something nobody wants then try cry about their poor decisions and then has the gall to ask "Where did we go wrong?"
Yeap, I can sense it as well. C&C3 is so-so, RA3 is so-so as well, not much in love of my Soviets turned into clowns and no nukes, but what's worse is the change of the Construction Ways. And then hell no to C&C4! Generals 2? I don't care, I can play Starcraft 2 instead of that C&C-wannabe game.
We should get a petition for EA to continue Generals 2, add Russia to It and other factions inspired by real life etc. They should also re do the USA faction maybe.
Bioware is just as bad as EA Games. Activision likewise. There are NO AAA-companies within video gaming that aren't as terrible as EA Games. They're all the same.
@@EnjoyCocaColaLight That's really not true though, Bioware only started down their current path when they agreed to work with EA, before that they were quite respectable.
@@decus9544 That means they're now a "has-been" and whatever they WERE once doesn't matter, because now they ARE shit. Blame EA or not, doesn't change the fact that Bioware is now producing feces.
@@EnjoyCocaColaLight Well it matters because it means that if BioWare go their own way then we should expect them to be more like how they were than how they are... otherwise yes it doesn't matter but it should be kept in mind.
Another reason to hate EA for shutting down games that could have had potential but were instead were trying to turned it into a “get the most amount of cash out of the consumer as possible” bs.
I played this game in closed beta and it looked really promesing and I was so hyped. my whole childhood was playing Generals with my friends so I was so looking forward to this game. Thanks for the story, still makes me sad how abruptly it ended.
EA Worker: “ This is hard work! ” (When working) EA Worker: “ Are there not better tools? ” (When making excuses for the delay) EA Worker: “ I should repair that. ” (When having to solve BUGs) EA Worker: “ I will try my chances. ” (When announcing a title) EA Worker: “ This may be painful... ” (Due to the reaction of the players for the EA titles) EA Worker: “ It already needs repairs? ” (When they have to fix BUGs again) EA Worker: “ Does it have to be so far? ” (When the announced title is too complicated for their capabilities) EA Worker: “ Hey, stop! ” (When they are attacked by the fans)
If everyone would stop buying their games they would shut down. Lol But gamers want to play games by this company so I doubt if it will, unfortunately. :(
E.A. is the ISIL of video games. They swear with religious zeal that they are good but, like Locust, they simply destroy and move on to their next target.
Really? Westwood Studios is Petroglyph Studios? What games have they put out then? I sill have C&C Tiberian Sun and C&C Generals ( I guess EA just had to frag the sequel, the dummies, SMH). Looks like EA decided to be the *homicide bombers of the video game industry*, but in their case, they really should be called *The Suicide Game Company*. >:(
And they would probably still make decent amount of money for little effort, yet they have to insist on THEIR vision and never care about fans, ruining games. EA are idiots.
The game is decently balanced the real issues is just the very different play styles each faction uses which is cool but when I play generals I always feel like GLA had a hand up and china just seems sorta weak most of the time. I would of made gla get another building for tanks and buggys etc. to get the upgraded version of those units they need a junkyard with dedicated workers either running to destoryed tanks grabbing scrap or straight out of the junkyard then running to the war factory or whatever to place the parts on a idle tank in the war factory or tanks near the factory. I think it would of been a better system than just driving around and just having a tank or pickup truck upgrade running over some destoryed tank also won't have to micro for that so heavily as dedicated units would be fetching the scrap.
Car Companies: Cars are dead. We'll only make SUVs from now on. Hardware manufacturers: Hard drives are dead. We'll only sell cloud storage services from now on. Gaming industry: RTS is dead. We'll only make CoD/Zombie games from now on. I don't want to live in this world anymore.
Yep. But the first one is pretty good, and beside, I think game like CoH is one of the reason traditional RTS like C&C is in a miserable state in the present (Petrolyth game like Gray Goo and Universe at War is good, it's just that by that time game like Men of War become more popular. Just look at Iron Harvest, plenty of people think it's a mod from CoH when they see the gameplay for the first time)
Mammoth Mk3 ah, now I see a context of your statements. So, you claim that it was tactical elements that were killing traditional RTS? Just like apparently third person shooters are killing FPS market by the same logic?(Spoiler alert: which isn't happening for obvious reasons). Nope, sorry, can't support this view. And both were quite good until DoW3 and CoH2(example of why games should never try to go political) came into existence. Plus Relic were creators of Homeworld series before that and are now reviving AoE with fourth game. They can make great games if their upper management isn't making cheap marketing decisions without knowing their target audience. Oversimplification and "E-sports focus" that Blizzard succesfully made it's competition to fall into however...
I played the alpha of the game. Which was skirmish mode, but the AI did not work. But there is a few things I got from it. The music was beyond incredible. It was basically the ordinary Generals soundtrack, but updated and improved. Which touched both my nostalgia and also being fresh and new. The game play itself was very close to the old Generals, with little new added to it. That can be a good or a bad thing depending on how they would have handled it with the full release and future of the game. And then there were the graphics. Which can best be described as looking the same as Battlefield, which was great.
JiuLion. Sadly I don't, but there are bits and pieces of it on TH-cam, but it seems a lot of it is gone. But you can find some of the soundtrack of the EU faction, just search for 'Generals 2 soundtrack'. But alas, most of it seems to be gone forever. A shame really.
Generals 2 looked and played great! EA is cancer. Still can hum the beginning music themes for both USA, China and GLA. I'd say the beginning USA theme is my favourite.
fir3w0rx Productions, yeah, but they said remasters are nothing but wasting their time. THEY'RE WRONG! Look at Starcraft 1 the remastered version, selling like hot cakes!
Those who downloaded and tested Alpha version, please upload it for hackers to crack! And brother hackers should give brother gamers a free Generals 2 for everyone!!!
Dildo Faggins buying a nee fifa game each year 😂for small changes in graphics and updates instead of making it into updates they make a new game to sell it for 100$
You would be very disappointed. I had acces to it and it felt nowhere near any other C&C including Generals. Dynamic has been slowed down. I don't mean units speed or anything. What I mean is resource income was very slow and everything was quite expensive. You couldn't just quickly expand because of that and you couldn't mass forces. It quite often went down to controlling 4-7 combat units in total because maps were also quite small. Additionally there were quite strong emphasis placed on the rock-paper-scissors mechanics. Some generals had absolutely 0 chanse againts specific others. It was bad enough to the point that if you were to play GLA general (I don't remember which one exactly but I think it was toxic general) you would not have access to anything that would be effective against heavy tanks and the enemy would be quite literraly be able to take you out using ONE tank. In the first generals all generals have some sort of counter to any other type of unit (infrantry, light, heavy vehicles, aviation), but in the second Generals instead of that every general had weakness againt the whole type of units. So for example some would lack AA (exept for extremally weak ones) and could be defeated by one or two helicopters. That was not fun at all. And to be honest I glad they cancelled it because another C&C4 would be extra bad for the what remains of C&C franchase.
Act of War was the polished Version of Generals to me. Sweet Singleplayer, Anti Super Weapon System, great Air fight System and cool Units. Sadly Act of Aggression wasnt realy my cup of Tea.
Because EA destroys everything they touch. Virctory / Bioware were a very dedicated team, but EA's whole free-to-play shift to make more money killed it. SooS.
because corporate is so deeply involved in gaming industry nowadays that can simply cancel a good game just because it wouldn't give them the opportunity to milk fans and people with it over some other IPs that would do this for them the greed of the corporate will eventually destroy gaming industry completely we have Dark days ahead of us...
I actually hate the visual aesthetic of this new C&C rendition of Generals. So many of the vehicles look like futuristic trash barely based on anything real or existing. fewer polygons forces devs to come up with simpler designs to represent units, overall I think this results in a much more memorable and crisper unit design.
I seriously had more than 3000 hours to this game,i played it for hours and hours everyday, this game was all my childhood, and not only mine to be exact, they may have buried generals 2 but atleast the first one is living forever in our hearts
One of my favorite games was C&C Generals : Zero Hour, the game was so uniquely balanced and genuinely fun. It really sucks that corporate meddling ruined what could be a really awesome sequel
Both glad and sad that generals 2 was cancelled. Sad cause c&c is too good to let it die and the world is really ready and waiting for a modern revamp. Glad cause it didn't seem to stay true to the original, in terms of both, gameplay or design. The graphics are too generic/unoriginal and too futuristic while generals was supposed to look MODERN, NOT futuristic. My wish would be a REMASTER of the ORIGINAL, remade in hd on a new more efficient engine, with a new online environment, competition ladder war system, clan wars system, more & bigger maps to support more players etc. Only thing it needs is a NOT so radical balance patch and it will be perfect imo. I bet it will sell like hotcakes!
Gino, yeah, except they're not interested in remasters. One thing they did now is a collaborative project with Tencent, but it's not the Red Alert 2 as a remaster we hope for, it's a Frankenstein monster!
Generals 2 was in the right with making the gla look like a true terrorist group using scraped tanks and trucks and a bomb truck looking like a dump truck was good it's just the game engine itself wasn't really built for rts you can tell just looking at some of the maps the sand looks like orange crayon or paint and the shadows are god dam awful that it did look weird as if the game was taking place in 2040 or something with how the USA faction played. Honestly a better version of a remastered or new generals game would be making a modern 1 after 9/11 era they could have the terrorists using flip cellphone explosives IEDS and tunnel networks can look like a old cave or mine with a guy or two in front with camo netting and a machine gun keep it closer to a realistic real world experience than just ya this guy has a rocket buggy don't mind how he got it. And if they want continue the crazy tanks and trucks they could of made a junkyard building and a dedicated worker running into it and the war factory looking for parts to make upgraded versions of tanks before they come out of the war factory like how generals zero hour had gla scrap system then the upgrade buffs from rockets and bullets from black market and palace could be like chinese or russian parts/ammo.
JugglerBean, don't forget Tencent, an EA collaborative project that work with to bring RA2 back to life, except twisting it into their own Frankenstein monster!
Command and Conquer Generals was the best RTS ever. I played other RTS but they were OK. Do you know how many years I've been waiting? Very poor call by EA...
6:20 Clearly EA looked at the misleading figures of the number of people playing MMOs (Where they claim to have millions of players, but actually have millions of "players" who either briefly log on for daily rewards, or play the game only to quit a couple of weeks later) and decided they wanted in. Instead of continuing to listen to the fans, the ones who pay the bills, the CEOs just thought about the potential money, instead of the guaranteed money. Idiots.
Always a shame seeing this, Generals 2 had some pretty impressive assets artistically and style wise. Even if it's game play felt like an off kilter starcraft II when I played the alpha.
DoMiNaToR. But you said on your channel "I'm in search of a new popular RTS game since the C&C series died off....". So what do you mean its now alive?
Why does EA keep the rights to the franchise if they do not plan to create another game? EA should give the rights to Petroglyph (Original Westwood devs)
8 months passed but I have only now seen this video.. Are you familiar with a former EA game called Battleforge? It was killed in 2013, revived by a group of people, but they gave them only a part of the code and forbade them to make profit on the game eventhough EA burried it 10m below the ground
@@lakij7274 I played a bit BattleForge, never really got into it and then it was closed. You know, Halo War 2 Blitz mode has a very similar gameplay to BattleForge, but in the Halo universe.
All they needed to do was make a game that has familiar cheesy video cutscenes, base building and better graphics than the previous game and we'd buy it. My least favourite thing about generals was the lack of video cutscenes.
I found my old PC and fixed it up and found every single command in conquer I used to play and now I'm in TH-cam watching stuff about this game again x3
"Live service" was the reason the game died. I was on the forum and everyone was livid at the decision of paying a monthly fee to unlock map selections, 2v2/3v3/4v4, i.e. free content that every RTS has ever had. It was heart breaking for this game to be cancelled but it was worth it for it to cancel. EA learned its lessons, we have remasters coming out the pipework and more C&C plans that stay true to the core of the game. CNC2's cancellation gave life to new projects.
Trouble is it took nearly two decades for them to start to learn. I'm sure there are still some execs breathing down on the 'let's do it properly this time group' with whatever the next lootbox **llox is
Have you ever rushed someone with a techical filled with terrorists? You can just delete buildings with it. So fun. You're building a war factory? Nope it is dead, and so are you
i loved it, it was good, changed just get a bold TITTLE is BAD and evil but games need to change as time goes on.... this is why RTS games are all but dead now because of the RTS customers just not accepting change, but its ok CA and SEGA are going to show them what they missed out on all those years ago with Total war Arena, problem with the RTS genre was its fans, they killed them selfs which pissed me off, because it was my fav but every other genre changed as time went on and come on bigger and better but RTS was stuck unable to grow and evolve... and in the end its fans killed it and today its not a thing maybe 1 game a year if that... YAY
Zfast4y0u OH, sadly I changed my rig and formated my HDD, but even if I had it I couldn't play because of it being linked to the servers that are now shut by EA. So they fu**ed it up to the end.
pouria rajee - they are not, as they relied on a server for the game, which has been shut down in November 2013. They may be useful for data investigation, though.
Why do you think there wasn't a skirmish? It's just the way the game was designed to always be online, even when playing against only AI, that prevents the usability of those files.
There is a chance EA is making a new Command and Conquer game right now. With major titles just as Halo wars 2 and Dawn of War 3, and eventually Age of Empires 4 in the market, I don't think EA would want to miss out. I personally think EA will announce a new Command and Conquer in late 2018 - mid 2019. Who knows, maybe even at E3. Also if there is a new Command and Conquer, it would most likely be in the Tiberium universe.
A veteran RTS developer, named Greg Black, announced on Twitter a few months ago that he's back at EA again, and "can't wait to show what he's working on". Although there must be a non-disclosure agreement, since he did not answer what this mysterious game is when asked by commenters. Somehow the company did not make him delete the post. If(!) this is truly a sign, we still cannot tell how long they've been working on this project, so it will be impossible to tell if there's going to be some gameplay footage, or only some trailer like what AOE4 had last summer at Gamescom.
Generals 2 graphics were well ahead of its time, i dont know why but the game looked stunning. I used to watch it's gameplays everyday while it was in Beta. F**k EA...
I worked for Westwood Studios prior to EA buying them out and I had worked on the Red Alert 2 expansion Yuri's Revenge and it was an amazing experience. To see the franchise reduced to what it is now is.. just appalling. EA needs to either shit or get off the pot and give us a Command and Conquer game that we want to play.. not a remaster.. a NEW game.
C&C is gone but tbh it wouldn't have survived StarCraft II anyway. C&C was basically RTS for retards: the micro required was laughable, nearly non-existent, macro was easy and noob friendly.... StarCraft II is still going strong. C&C was never the king of RTS.
@@BoydTheMilkmanX Nah, it's StarCraft 2 that's RTS for retards - the only things you need to have are reaction time and apm, and the only things you need to know are meta builds, their hard counters and how to recognise that it's already time to """"""gg"""""" out - which is usually well within 10 minutes. That's why it's so popular - it's so simple that even a moron will understand it and its matches are extremely short for an RTS. And that's why stuff like Supreme Commander and Total Annihilation isn't nearly as popular.
What franchises haven't they ruined? Other than sports I can only think of The Sims and the Battlefield franchises that still see new games and things aren't looking great for Battlefield 5 right now.
I love these mini documentaries, they're so well put together and they should be on TV on a dedicated game channel all over the World. Well done because this video's like a tribute to the original Generals, I love the music, it's giving me nostalgia big time. I'll support you on patreon. I love old Command & Conquer games, they're gems, especially Red Alert 2, Generals, Tiberian Sun and Tiberium Wars. It's such a sad shame what happened with Generals 2, I remember seeing the first video of it and it looked pretty damn good, it had the old music and the quirky dialogue. I really hope that EA wise the absolute fuck up and let a good team make Generals 2 properly and hire as many of the Westwood team to make more games based on Red Alert and Tiberium Universes. Who knows.
Commander, in order to allow for a new Command and Conquer to be developed you must make EA go bankrupt and disappear as a corporation. In all their branches and franchises. -Primary Objective One: Ensure EA loses rights for sport games lines through management scandals involving the use of drugs -Primary Objective Two: Create a backlash across Sims fanbase by ensuring operative system affecting malwares are deployed to Sims users -Primary Objective Three: Manipulate EA officers to implement paid box crates in their Star Wars, Battlefield and Need for Speed lines while convincing international legislation bans this system. -Primar Objective Four: Upon completion of these objectives you must hack EA main bank accounts to bring the killing stroke upon the corporation, effectively negating its financial capability, this will force an auction of EA's brands. Once EA is destroyed as a functioning entity you must ensure a more capable publisher acquires the Command and Conquer brand. Secondary Objective One: Prevent Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, Gearbox or Sega from acquiring the franchise. Secondary Objective Two: Ensure Focus Home Interactive acquires the Command and Conquer franchise. Tertiary Objective One: Ensure no asian publisher envoy is present in the auction.
Shockwave mod is great, but development stopped on that mod a while ago, while the Contra mod has more content and is still under development for Contra 009. Still playing generals for over 10 years and its still a fun game to play even better with the Contra mod.
"Live Services" are coming for your games. They've been trying to push this concept for years. They want you to continuously dribble money their way and then when that income drops to an "unacceptable" level, they will pull the plug on the game. Then only the covert efforts of hackers and modders to reverse engineer the server code _might_ allow you to play it after that. :/ Resist...
6:29 "It took a little bit of courage, but at the end of the day we felt that live service was the right decision to make" Translation: " Instead of investing millions in a full and complete game we felt an app with micro-transactions and gambling mechanics was substantially more profitable in the short term and and required less staff and commitment"

For every "this would be a good feature or move for the product", there is a "how much do I earn for it?"
For example, in the bar I work, some people would like icecream, and would probably pay for it, but there is a store literally 20 steps away from the bar where you can buy more icecream and at a cheaper price. And they also don't consider the effort to get a container to keep the icecream cold, and how much it would cost.
Basically, gamers don't get economics, but what else is new?
Money is all inside their head
@@BakerDoge Where big money starts, good games end.
I am sickened by what EA did to C&C, but I know its an uphill battle for any spiritual successor to get peoples interest.

it was a super retarded idea to make a shitty f2p/p2w generals game. whoever had this idea is someone who doesn't know anything about games, who doesn't play games. someone who only thinks of it as a business, a money grab scheme and nothing else. God I can't express how pissed off I am that this game was turned into shit and then cancelled altogether...

If everyone would stop buying their games they would shut down. Lol But gamers want to play games by this company so I doubt if it will, unfortunately. :(
Like the old EA director said in this video: "free to play is the future", this confirms their agenda is to turn pc gaming into mobile gaming.
E.A. is the ISIL of video games. They swear with religious zeal that they are good but, like Locust, they simply destroy and move on to their next target.
Back in tbe 90s EA actually put out some awesome games. Remember the Strike series that was on the Sega Genesis?
Right
it sucks how they have killed the command and conquer series
They should just copy Generals with better graphics with new weapons and units.
And they would probably still make decent amount of money for little effort, yet they have to insist on THEIR vision and never care about fans, ruining games. EA are idiots.
they need to balance everything xd.
Naw that would be commonsense, how would yuppies show their managerial wizardy if made such a commonse choice.
Ea was such a good company until they became greedy and dont care about their fan anymore

TheArklyte I hate todays market
Dude, you didn't mention Dawn of War and Company of Heroes. ;)
Dawn of War 3 is basically a starcraft clone mixed with a MOBA
Yep. But the first one is pretty good, and beside, I think game like CoH is one of the reason traditional RTS like C&C is in a miserable state in the present (Petrolyth game like Gray Goo and Universe at War is good, it's just that by that time game like Men of War become more popular. Just look at Iron Harvest, plenty of people think it's a mod from CoH when they see the gameplay for the first time)
Mammoth Mk3
ah, now I see a context of your statements.

I would have played the shit out of this. Generals and Zero Hour were so good.
And to be honest I glad they cancelled it because another C&C4 would be extra bad for the what remains of C&C franchase.
all of those things could have been tweaked with balance patches though.
How about trying Act of War/Act of Agression?
Maybe you like it. Not Generals 2 but close.

Because EA destroys everything they touch. Virctory / Bioware were a very dedicated team, but EA's whole free-to-play shift
to make more money killed it. SooS.
because corporate is so deeply involved in gaming industry nowadays that can simply cancel a good game just because it wouldn't give them the opportunity to milk fans and people with it over some other IPs that would do this for them
the greed of the corporate will eventually destroy gaming industry completely
we have Dark days ahead of us...
I actually hate the visual aesthetic of this new C&C rendition of Generals. So many of the vehicles look like futuristic trash barely based on anything real or existing. fewer polygons forces devs to come up with simpler designs to represent units, overall I think this results in a much more memorable and crisper unit design.
damn, the music takes me back
Generals 2 looked amazing. Damn EA.

No it won't. Myself and hundred if not thousands of gamers are never buying an ea game again. The company MUST tank and go bankrupt.
Gino Give me a HD Remaster and a few expansions and I’ll sell my soul to EA

I want my childho- ... I want Westwood back :(
Is a Command and Conquer Generals sequel after 15 years too much to ask?
Don't worry friend! New C&C on the way! EA really does listen to its fans!
EA needs to either shit or get off the pot and give us a Command and Conquer game that we want to play.. not a remaster.. a NEW game.
When i started playing this game i was 8 years old, and still playing it waiting for zero hour 2
Generals 2 must be preserved!
Re-installing c&c first decade as I'm watching. R.I.P c&c
C&C is gone but tbh it wouldn't have survived StarCraft II anyway. C&C was basically RTS for retards: the micro required was laughable, nearly non-existent, macro was easy and noob friendly.... StarCraft II is still going strong. C&C was never the king of RTS.
Apparently all we needed was one decade, I'm satisfied, I'll play Aftermath before this any day. Godspeed
@11:02 I think that's Bruce Greene of Funhaus.
When EA killed Generals2. Modders evolve the original Generals to varieties of mods. Still the game still alive because of these guys.
Going all Sci-fi with C&C was a mistake, just keep it like Zero Hour. Perfect game.
C&C was "all sci-fi" long before _Generals_
Pay to win model in a strategy game. Well done EA, because that's the problem right there.
At least Kane's Wrath is still around.
How many franchises has EA ruined by greed?
720jlconner Dead Space and Star Wars Battlefront to name a few.
Too many
all
What franchises haven't they ruined? Other than sports I can only think of The Sims and the Battlefield franchises that still see new games and things aren't looking great for Battlefield 5 right now.
@@OodldoodlNoodlesocks Dude, what about Simcity? They ruined that too. Cities skylines is loads better than that.
An HD remaster of the first Generals that adds in Russia would probably be enough to print money and make fans happy.
-Primary Objective One: Ensure EA loses rights for sport games lines through management scandals involving the use of drugs
-Primary Objective Two: Create a backlash across Sims fanbase by ensuring operative system affecting malwares are deployed to Sims users
-Primary Objective Three: Manipulate EA officers to implement paid box crates in their Star Wars, Battlefield and Need for Speed lines while convincing international legislation bans this system.
That tertiary objective is more important that it might seem... The Chinese communist party would pervert this game franchise.
The Contra mod is the unequivocal unofficial sequel to Generals in my mind.
Shockwave mod is great, but development stopped on that mod a while ago, while the Contra mod has more content and is still under development for Contra 009. Still playing generals for over 10 years and its still a fun game to play even better with the Contra mod.
Michael Jagosz Shockwave still receives updates every so often, the team that worked on it are now behind the Rise of the Reds mod
Rise of the reds? That mod's lore is quite good
I thought Rise of the Reds stopped dev because it was finished?
Nice, been a while since I played using the Shockwave mod.
6:29 "It took a little bit of courage, but at the end of the day we felt that live service was the right decision to make"
Translation: " Instead of investing millions in a full and complete game we felt an app with micro-transactions and gambling mechanics was substantially more profitable in the short term and and required less staff and commitment"
I had a nostalgia feeling after watching this video clip. And i found that my teenager were gone. SAD but true...
