I started listening to this kind of music in 1990 - on my FM radio as a 14 yr old. Started going out at 17, for the next 25 years :)
Now 47, have 2 kids, but always loved the music - CANNOT BELIEVE I've never heard of this guy. Thanks for putting this up, really appreciate it. Let's keep this music alive :)

@bluejackmedia We Are I.E. (1991) was the first DnB song, but there also was some techno song from 1990 that used an amen break, forgot it's name.
@ as LTJ says “it’s all a matter of opinion”. That track is one generally accepted as proto DNB. There are others. But to be controversial: listen to NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton” amen break all over the gaffe
This is what DnB should sound like imo, drum and bass mixed well together with a soothing atmosphere. J-Laze's style is very elementary but that is by no means a bad thing.

I dont know why it's so hard for the uploader to do this themselves, and I'm not talking to 4AM Breaks, I mean ANY uploader who doesnt bother with it.
They made the video for Christ sake. They can look at the timeline and jot down the timestamps for each song immediately, like within the time span of waiting for the video to get done uploading.

For artists similar in vibe to J-laze, check out: Nu-Moon, Pariah, Alex DB. There are a couple comps from the early 2000s that have similar vibes: STUDIO-X X10, Studio-X, and Studio-X2 on Good Looking Records. Two Revolutions by Blame, on 720 Degrees. And one of my favorites for this kind of early 2000s sound: Roller Coaster III / Late Night Expressions on Triple Vision Records.
