As an Aussie - the level of danger is definitley hyped up. If you're in the cities, you're lucky to see a huntsman spider. Out in the regional areas, you just got to educate yourself on what to look out for, but it's nowhere near as dangerous as people make it out to be. Far safer here than most places in the world!

I think we have to see it in comparison. In Germany there isn't even anything to be afraid of whatsoever. The worst think that could happen is walking into a nettle with bare legs. Compared to that, having to know what to watch out for already seems like a lot of effort. 😂

As an Australian who has travelled this country extensively by 4WD, and spent a lot of it hiking, fishing and hunting, the dangers are overstated. You certainly need to be aware of your surrounds, and aware of the different dangers depending on what part of the country you're in, but it should not deter anyone from experiencing the beauty that this land has to offer. You're more at risk in the cities, and like most major cities around the world it's humans that are your biggest danger, not the animals out in the bush.

It truly is the best book. I think everyone needs to read it as the sole info for "how to: on life" I used to go every tuesday and thursday to meditate and see Mickey chat at temple of the universe. He's got the best energy in real life. But it always left me thinking, wow, everything "problem" or emotion makes sense now and you get that from the book too. Love this Australia content as well! I've been twice and the last time I traveled down the entire east coast. So gorgeous. Hope to go back and do the west coast one day.
I have been to Australia a few times. Last in 2020 and got caught in the bush fires in Victoria and had been rescued by the great men and women from the Australian Navy. Forever thankful! But surely I will be coming back 😊 I ❤ Australia and the laid back Aussie way of life

Alright, so I’m in Tasmania, We have the Tiger Snake here. There are a few things I do as I have a dog who comes with me everywhere. I don’t tend to hike in the bush come summer. We hike more from middle August to middle Spring. The snakes are more scared of you than you are of them. Making some noise as you walk helps to scare them off. There are simple things to remember - don’t poke a stick down a hole, it could have a snake or spider. Be careful lifting logs, snakes & spiders. Certain times of the year up north stay out of the sea, the further north in the tropics the water isn’t the safest - crocs. Southern Aus is croc free, but the bigger rivers could have Bull Sharks in them. It’s talking to locals with the bigger rivers near the coast to know where is safe. The further inland up rivers you find Bull Sharks.
Rock pools with warmer weather watch for Blue Ringed Octopus, I’ve never seen one, but I do look carefully before entering. Spiders give me the heebee jeebies, safe or not. Huntsmans have me running from the room 😝.
Generally it’s common sense applied to our native fauna. The fauna here are on the whole not aggressive, unlike places like the USA, with bears, cougars, coyotes, wolves, or in EU where some places have bears & wolves. Most people bitten is due to stupidity or not paying attention to where you’re walking.
My dog and I tend to swim more in the warmer weather. Where I am in Tassie we rarely come across sharks, water is too cool for them.

I lived in Florida, USA and we had our neighborhood alligators and various venomous snakes. I just watched where I was going and let them pass. If anything the alligators were afraid of us. We also had coyotes, bobcats, panthers and bears.
What's the fun in life without a little danger ?!??
Not to mention Sharks off the coast, stunned iguanas following out of trees, and the most dangerous creature... the snowbird.

Hi again Sorelle - for self preservation and enjoyment all you have to do is respect Mother Nature and her potential for nurturing and fury which no doubt your Icelandic treks taught you - a young British women was found deceased leaning against a great a massive gum tree in Trephina Gorge East McDonnell Ranges NT on a 40C degree Celsius day - she had no water with her but only her day backpack - Huntsmen spiders by the way will bite you if they feel threatened - I don’t think about snakes despite accidentally walking over brown one as it slept on a warm rock in the Flinders Ranges - were so lucky to have this amazing country around us.

Hi again Sorelle and NEILA - during my cycling treks I created some easy dishes suitable for a solo traveller with limited storage - I like to eat healthily but enjoy it as well so here’s one very easy but tasty rice dish - garlic, green capsicum, tinned tuna already with a curry flavour (laksa, Mexican etc) one cup of basmati rice (low GI and already in one serve tubs) and cook in olive oil in that order - very simple, healthy and filling - bon appetite - my mother who recently passed and not afraid of life once said to me “young one you can’t go around life - you must pass through it” - I’ve learnt that many people look in the wrong places for happiness and are never satisfied - happiness is an outcome of our journeys not a goal.
Lived all over Australia, in the country too, up mountains, on the coast...... Been hiking, camping, mountain climbing and swimming in freshwater holes....Only seen a snake twice, crocodiles on a tour in the NT, spiders are in every country but the mystery bites are seriously a spoiler, that you have to deal with regularly. But it is so worth it. Keep on going Sorelle.
It is so similar to living here in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. Everything is deadly, prickly, and poisonous...BUT we LOVE it!!

Bugs, spiders as big as your hand (tarantulas), 4 inch Centipedes , Scorpions big and small, Snakes (rattle Snakes), just a few of the lovely critters that call Mexico home, as well as me. Oh I forgot, sharks, Orcas, dolphins, whales, Mountain lions, wolves, Jaguars. But its so worth it to live in a beautiful safe place. Keep exploring Sorelle.
Lloolll this video was epic 😂😂. You grow accustomed to it I guess. But like you, i still squirk and scream when the cocharoaches are around...either crawling or flying. The flying ones are bloody horrible 😂. Other than that, when I'm walking deep in the bush or on a hike, I tend to drag a light stick behind my to ward off snakes 😁

Worked around Oz as an archaeologist surveying for sites and digging holes. Walking around Pt Headland (NW coast of WA on a map) on a sandy coastal flood plain covered in large spinifex grass clumps, and EVERYWHERE between the spinifex were Brown Snake tracks. Yet I never saw a snake.
Excavating on the NSW south coast for a highway expansion you'd dig up Sydney Funnel Web spiders, but you don't touch them, just scoop them up in a shovel and move them away. :)
I live in Brisbane's northern Suburbs (Kallangur) and it's a rare week I don't see a snake in my yard. Mostly pythons, but a few brown snakes and green tree snakes (very hard to see).
Living in Australia, you learn to adapt to all the dangers. Such a beautiful country though, definitely visit!!! 🦘🐨🌏

I have to take a torch if I go under the house at night as there's a resident Small-eyed snake. There's often a Golden crowned snake too.
Snakes are great, think of them as an attraction (NE NSW).

Girl i resonate so much with everything you just said hahaha I´ve been living in Byron Bay for the past 2 years and living with mice in the closet, hearing snakes moving on the roof of the house, checking inside your shoes for spiders, hearing cockroaches in the house at night even if you keep it clean... it becomes a part of your normal day, with time and acceptance of the land you are in. At the end of the day, i am grateful to be able to experience a place on earth that hasn´t been as touched by humans as many others and still lets nature take up as much space as she desires. Im not sure for how much longer the Australian Government will be so friendly with the animals and wild nature here. So im gonna enjoy being one of the few who has gotten the opportunity to experience a more raw unfiltered wild Earth - Australia.
good luck with your trip. As a troopy owner I'll offer a bit of advice....cover the grille with some stainless steel flyscreen, it will stop bugs and seeds etc getting into your radiator and depending on if you have a deep cycle battery fitted, put a winch on the bull bar. It will come in very handy if you intend going on soft sanded beaches, plus the usual snatch straps and recovery gear.

As an Aussie who's lived overseas for many years, I've come to realise that you learn from a young age which are just annoying and which will put you in hospital. Avoid the hospital ones, take salt to rainforests (for leaches), take vinegar to the northern beaches (jellyfish), don't swim in some places, and take bottles of water everywhere there's no tap. A first aid kit and knowledge goes a long way too.

Love your basic setup and the minimalistic approach. In a world of bolt-on accessories, gvm upgrades, and 'take the f'ing kitchen sink with you' vehicle-build, content creators, keeping it simple always is best. It harks back to the glory days of vehicle exploration without all the mod cons that clutter the experience. The biggest thing I will say you are missing, that will transform your travels is a chainsaw (Sthil domestic, cheap, light). Light, warmth, and hot water! And who doesn't like sitting next to a fire at night? A visceral woman's place is barefoot around the campfire at night. Fire also keeps those vicious Australian drop bears away! 😉

I doubt it is any more dangerous than anywhere else you just need to take the appropriate precautions and wear suitable protection. I still would like to come to Australia for the opals and gold panning. Thanks Sorelle stay safe.
I think Australian locals are good at being prepared. As you mention you adapt if you've been here a while. The biggest oversight many travelers commit in Australia is lack of preparation. I've witnesses individuals arriving wanting to do the Overland Track in Cradle Mountain with nothing but plastic shopping bags for a 2 day walk, only to be refused entry.
I've also done tails in summer when there's snakes (I ran some of the overland track listening to Beyoncé so fun! I felt like I was making enough noise to deter snakes but we saw some. Possibly don't run the trails in summer? Snakes like to hide behind logs.
Please do a video of Tasmania it's always left out - it's soooo special and my home state. I can give you some pointers. :)

I have been living in Innisfail, north Queensland for the past couple of months - and apparently there are crocodiles everywhere around here 🤔 BUT also INCREDIBLE waterfalls, rainforests, ancient birds like the cassowary (who are also dangerous haha), gorgeous beaches: the opportunities for exploration are endless 😍
yes we definitely become accustom to Australia's nature that's for sure. I live up in the mountains of NSW you know where that Banana is lol. 4x4 check, trail bike check. I'm always out and about and talking to the locals, country towns are my Norm. Your content is really good and thanks for sharing 🙂Your adventures here will be great to follow. There are wild dogs around too though they tend to rack off when they are surprised or you come across any. They hate sharp smacking wacking or clap sounds, like most dogs do.
Visited Australia last year and the only wild animals we encountered were at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. 😅 We had been warned about spiders and jellyfish 🪼 so we were vigilant and stayed out of the ocean. 🌊

Would love to visit Australia but when I do I want to last 2-3 months to justify the long and extensive journey. As a digital nomad this is possible, just has not happened yet. But I can’t wait, Australia is an incredible country. 😊

Your comments that you always have your guard up and live in a state of borderline anxiety really summed up living anywhere in Australia outside of the cities and towns. In other countries people look out for large predatory animals. The difference here is that our dangerous creatures like to surprise you by turning up in unexpected places, often in your house. Here, the smaller the creature the bigger the danger. Even some of our birds are raucous and aggressive. I've had to fight a Currawong for the pegs on the clothesline because he took a fancy to them. I walk out the front door and get threatened by Curlews. I've been chased in my loungeroom by a Huntsman as big as a dinner plate and woken in the night by thousands of baby Huntsman spiders that had hatched. I've been attacked by a Coastal Taipan ( lucky it missed), uncovered Red Bellies in the wood heap, opened the grill on the stove one morning to find a large Carpet Python curled up in it, and twice had snakes slide across my foot while I stood admiring the scenery or sat on the front step. Australia is challenging to live in. The funniest encounter I've ever had in the bush was at night, while we were hunting. Our mate was in front of me and he suddenly stopped and fell backwards. It was like he'd hit an invisible barrier. It was actually a massive spider web and the spider was HUGE! But is Australia a stunningly beautiful, diverse land? Absolutely!
My daughter had spiders in the fridge! What’s with that? I found only one in Exmouth and it was in an outdoor bathroom 😅 enjoy ❤

I’m always out in nature here in oz deep in the rainforest in creeks and animals, bugs, leeches, ticks, spiders are all apart of the nature and natural experience. there not out to hurt you. A mutual respect is all that is needed and giving them some space. Australia is beautiful and it’s rare to come across deathly animals unless you put yourself in the places they are like croc infested rivers ect.
I love keeping some places secret! It encourages people to get out and explore for themselves. Also pleeease use as much natural based soaps and products when you’re bathing in nature. To avoid toxins getting in streams and all the lives who depend on them 🙏🏽🌿❤️

Thank you Sorelle. The Untethered Soul changed my life years ago. Somewhere between Canada and Mexico I gave it away. It´s time to buy another copy. We have spiders and scorpions here. I was bitten by a half dead black widow who had crawled into my folded up jeans. Lesson learned. Always shake and inspect before you put anything on. Thankfully I am fine. It hurt for a bit. I got some antivenom and now the scar is almost gone. I love all creatures and respect them. Question: I love your bathing suit. Would you share where you got it? I need a new one for our adventures all over this magnificent country which, according to most people, is also dangerous. It is positively and magnificently fascinating and glorious! I carry a can of flyspray in my van at all times. Definitely no walking thru grass because snakes, ticks etc and I’m never gonna be running around in a bikini in the bush lol, that’s a whole level I’m not going near😂😂😂. I tried to find that bamboo tunnel from last week, sadly I’ve not located it yet. I recognise that swimming hole from a max and occy vid but actually have no bloody idea where it is other than a general vicinity. Sad u don’t tell us where either spot is, they’re both on my lap list when I head north again.

My OCD is saying "No!! DON'T shave your legs in water where there's all sorts of bacteria swimming around 🫣!!" Coz it can seep into cuts etc. But thats's just me. Still LOVE watching your adventures ❤
