I first need to increase my income in order to do more investments..it's hard to save with little salary and reducing debts at the same time...so true, too many of us are stuck in jobs we don't like..thanks for this video, it's such a reminder to always improve yourself.
2 cents. Reduce your expenditure..if possible even by R50. Then invest that R50, so that the new increased income finds you on the way.

I totally agree with you, reading, watching TH-cam videos, listening to podcasts, learning new skills have shaped me so much. Our brains need to be fed each and everyday to develop. I was taught early in life that having a teachable spirit will take me places.
I was making my goals for the new years and ran unto yours about three months ago because there is so many unique advises that I didn't even think of incorporating into my list. So think you and I will be checking back every month for the motivation to keep me on track

Wasn't even searching for this but it came at the right time, was praying asking God to give me wisdom I want to save & give to charity as well this year 2023 " blessed is the hand that gives" but was scared when I was looking at my finances. Although I do spend money on take aways & outing, thought it was just a small amount, imagine the money I would have had if I started early. Your video encourages me I will say it's my answer. Am so happy for myself to be financial free and currently growing a solid retirement plan. It takes a positive and consistency to learn new things, unlearn the old habits ms Important to get a mentor /coach to lead you all the way. It's great to start young too!

@@louis-freddieceaser8811 yeah. Fees and commissions are factors to look at in search for financial advisers. There’s financial experts out there who do not look at their fees but the impact and intrinsic value they bring along to you no matter how little you want to start. I’m glad I had one guide me start my financial journey

Good morning I'm a new subbie, stumbled upon your channel. I love ❤️ this you're so true and do this I keep learning and taking new training classes and skills. And I try to tell my husband and he said every year I keep changing but my husband is still stuck in the time Is capsule of 1988

Love this ❤️ i would like to add that in addition to reading, what i've also found useful over the years is listening to talk radio. I honestly learn a lot just by listening to The Clement Manyathela show on 702 especially when i don't have busy mornings. The 9-12 show has been my go to from the days of Redi and have learned a lot from politics, social issues etc. Am able to challenge, debate and hold conversations because of what I've heard on radio. I would also recommend Podcasts, i love them because people can listen based on topics they enjoy.
In terms of getting a financial advisor, i will add by referencing Dave Ramsey "Remember a financial advisor is not there to tell you what to do or sell you a product but to provide guidance based on their knowledge". Once i picked up on personal finance content via Podcasts i asked mine a lot of questions she just didn't have the patience to answer me and make a comment once saying gore nkare i have lots of time on my hands these days because i was asking alot of questions about the unit trusts she advised me to invest in but never explained the fees. The next day i submitted a form to remove her as my financial advisor 😛😒 and now she only manages my RA and Life cover because i don't know if there is an option to remove her as yet. 🤔😉.
I think we also need to prioritize our mental health in the new year. The monthly budget if possible should include monthly therapy sessions. That's what am planning on doing next year, just need to find a good one.
Quick question, aren't money market accounts from asset management companies a bit expensive unlike Banks? I was of the impression that emergency funds is about quick access to cash during emergency and the interest in a money market whether from a Bank or asset management company would be the same since its based on interest rates unlike other products.

Banks have dedicated Cash and Investments Teams that deal with the notice deposits and TFSA investments. Accessing them are often cheaper than seeking out an Asset Management company
I can assure you that you don’t need to seek an asset management company. But banks are still bottom for TFSAs

Just a quick question nicollette, does the TFSA affect your retirement fund when you do it annually? I'm not sure of my question is structured correctly. When I was working at a private company, when we were retrenched we were given an option to withdraw or keep the retirement fund, it was also capped at 500 000k so I wanted to find out if I do a tax free will it also affect retirement withdrawal in terms of tax at a later stage?
No it’s not a retirement product under the pensions act.
