    “These bikes are 17/18 so a little older-“ this got me to rewind because newest thing I own is a 2005 which I call ‘new’ compared to my 72 XL250 lol

      yeah I'd love to own a 17/18 even if it is a little older 😂

    The answer is yes. Absolutely 100% if you can afford it. And honestly I see buying a good dual sport as a better option for dudes who like trail riding. With trail areas closing and connecting road being a real problem.

    I purchased a brand new Dually, because all the Used prices were laughable!....But now my dealer has nothing left.....not even straight dirt bikes! And long waiting lists too. Glad I got mine when I did.

    Jay, at 73 I just bought my first DS, an EXC-F 500. Like you said it is a blast!

    Great video thanks Jay. I'm a motocross guy in Australia, been racing for 40 years on 2 strokes, 4 strokes, 125s, 250s, 450s. I'm now back racing a 125 just for fun and having soooo much fun. But, I've got a lot more time on my hands so wanna get into some dual sport trail riding as well to enjoy amazing scenery and have a relaxing time on a dirt bike for a change without the need to go flat out 😂 this video is inspiring and shows the fun that can be had. Thanks again Jay, I'll be watching a lot more of your videos to learn about this form of riding 🙏

    I want to try dual sport off road exploring before I get too old.

    Can't beat the convenience of riding out to the trail instead of having to load and unload a trailer or truck.

    Great video & commentary. I ride single track in the Washington state mountain's but also dual sport on a 450 EXC for all the reasons you noted. I've gotten to places virtually unreachable by other means in OR, NV, UT. In some respects dual sport riding is the future as larger single track opportunities go away. The nice thing is the 350-500 cc bikes can do it all, so you can find those smaller single track spots & take advantage of them.

    Hell yes! This is what I bought my '17 fe350 to do. Though for now I am leaning towards enduro with it. I enjoy harescrambles and more difficult single track. At 53 it will do it a long as I can

    My three "dirt bikes" xr650l, kx450f, klx250r are all "plated" the only way I'd buy a dirt bike. I can go anywhere although the XR is for more road/distance trips d606/mt21s and Kenda 760 Trackmasters. Love the VID!

    Yes to getting a dual sport. Finally, moved out of Cali. Now, I leave my garage and in about half hour be on dirt roads or trails . I immediately thought of hard enduro training when you found that area with all of the rocks/boulders. Great video.

      I'm on the east coast, and it sucks too......it's all tight technical crap. All the coal mines and riding spots are a 2 hour ride on pavement from me.

    Thank you for this video. Love Mammoth area! I would go there all the time when I lived in NorCal. Now that I live in AZ and seeing your video I realize how much I miss it and need to go back.

    Obsidian dome was never a mine but in fact an old in active volcano. I just bought my first dirt bike at 54 to ride with my boys. I live in Mammoth and I am having a blast riding with the boys. Nice video.

    When did dual sports become a thing? Back in the day they were the very worst examples of what motorcycles could be. And whatever happened to enduro bikes? Is the ISDE/ISDT still a thing?

    Ive been using OnX for hunting numerous years. Thanks for another fun video. Looks like a great trip yall had. It is important to me and my riding style to be street legal, so the dual sports are a huge hit in my mind. I have never done motocross, but would like to try a cross country type event or something one day. Thanks again for helping so many of us with our questions and keep up the great work and videos.

    What sprockets are you using on the 350?

    • @bobbys.sfmoto9154
      @bobbys.sfmoto9154 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've settled on 13-50 sprockets from dirt tricks for now on my '17 fe350, a little lower than stock. I tried 13-52 which put all the gears really close together, maybe two low. Stock is 14-52

    • @dirtbiketv1
      @dirtbiketv1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prox sprockets. Email me for more info. Contact info About tab.

    If you could only have one bike would the 350 be enough to trail ride and use as a dual sport?

      I have a crf450l. A few days ago I rode a new KTM 350. I didn't like the feel at all. It it was single track and mild Enduro riding. 2nd gear was way to tall. The bike felt no lighter than mine and less tractorable.

    • @dirtbiketv1
      @dirtbiketv1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - But depends on which 350 etc. Email me for more info! Contact info in About tab.
