I ran a 41 willys gasser with a hilborn injected 311 small block Chevy built by kenz and Leslie. I miss those times so much. Watching Ed takes me back thank you very much. it used to be you had to make your technology. Now it seems like you just put a turbocharger on anything. Different times. But it seems like everybody loves the old times there was something special about it. Thanks Ed

Many years ago when i was a kid , well early 20s i worked for GM as a mechanic. The owner of the dealership knew a guy in DFW area that built dirt track engines . I think there still in business. They helped me build a engine for my 68 Camaro..i used a set of heads that came off a g gas car that made hp .. Anyway the engine was a combination of parts i came up with . I never had problems with overheating ect . I regularly spun the engine to 7800 . It was a lot of fun to drive . A 4 speed car . I liked the dirt tack bottom end and machine work . Its so much easier to build a engine nowadays lol . I use to change the lash on the roller cam to make the engine do what i wanted with in reason. Thank for the video

1962 I was a kid with little money. I put a 265 bored 1/8 inch with 283 high compression pistons and a wcfb 4 barrel carb. in my 48 chevy. 50 olds 3.23 ration rear end 850/15 tires. car went honest 120mph(2 miles in 60 seconds) faster than my friends 57 olds super 88. did 16.86 at twin city drag strip 1963. you would think the small 265 heads would not work but they did. had a fuel injection cam/lifters/valve springs. ran like a scalded cat.

A 307 crank in a 350 block will get you a 327. But the 305 heads will be hindering its potential.

Kenny Wallace has stated on his dirt track cars. He doesn't want the most horsepower. Instead, what he desired was a quicker suspension set up.
In others words. If a car can't get all that power to the ground in a practical sense. It's not going to win.
The late Scott Bloonquist more than likely didn't have the most horsepower in his cars. He had the the best suspension setup.

I have a friend who put 307 pistons on a 305 TPI engine. It peeled and smoked the tires like a 350. At fiat when he told me what he was going to do I thought it couldn't be done..

The full name of the company TRW is Thompson Ramo Wooldridge. The company was formed in 1958 when the Ramo-Wooldridge Corporation and Thompson Products merged. The name was later shortened to TRW in 1965.
TRW was a company that worked in the aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries. They were a major contributor to the U.S. space program, producing the descent engine for the Apollo Lunar Lander and a third of the satellites. TRW was also the first private company to build a spacecraft, Pioneer 1, which was launched into lunar orbit in 1958.

Does it still stress the crank with wheel slip grab slip grab if it’s a 350 with a nv 4500 and a newish clutch? From what I understood was the clutch disk springs prevent that.

The 307 crank in a 350 block makes a large journal 327. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. The 305 heads on it is what would suck.305 heads needs to stay on a 305 unless you spend more money on them than they're worth with porting and bigger valves, screw in studs and all the goodies. Why spend that much in shitty heads when you can buy aftermarket for less and make more power.
Im sure if you had ended the question with just the 307 crank in a 350 block and he would have said its fine and makes a large journal 327. Im positive the heads is what he didn't like. He knows they suck too.
