      You're totally right; it's asked all the time on tests so it's important to have a comprehensive video on it.

    I seriously wish I was in your class. I am in this advanced math program at my school, and I am currently taking 2 math courses (yay math!), algebra II and geometry, and it has been hard since my teacher barely teaches. You teach so much better and more energetic than ANY of my teachers. Thank you for posting these. Now I might do well this semester! (: You're students are very lucky.

    Basically, my teacher hates me, so she is not willing to help me out at all because she thinks I'm a slacker. I have a HUGE test tomorrow over ellipses, and I thank you so much for posting these. You have saved my life, and I might actually graduate on the recommended plan because of you. Keep it up! Thanks again!

    I don't even bother paying attention in class because I won't learn. I purposely zone out and work on other things then come here and learn it 10x faster.

    OMG. Im a little upset because all year long i have been struggling with my Algebra 2 honors class and i couldn't seem to find any videos that actually help and now in my last day of School i find this guy. Hes a great teacher and explains everything and the fact that there's student asking questions helps out even more. !!! wish i had found you earlier. Do you make Pre Calc Videos by any chance since im moving on next year?

    I'm in college now (using your vids for my pre-calc class EXTREMELY HELPFUL!) but if your looking for schools in the Chicago area i suggest looking towards Saint Francis, which was my old school your style of teaching would fit perfectly there also Wheaton Warrenville South i feel is always expanding. However a teacher like you should find employment easily the board just needs to watch your videos and you'll be hired on the spot

    Focal points: an ellipse can be defined as the collection of points sorrounding both focal points in a way that the distance from any point on the ellipse to a focii PLUS the distance to the other focii is always the same ... a body graviting around another (earth-sun) moves in an ellipse with the sun at one of the focii...but there is nothing at all in the other focii ! thanks and congrats for the video

    An ellipse is not a section of a cone, it is a section of a cylinder.You can get an ellipse if you slice through a cone parallel to the base but in all other cases you get an egg shape.

    • @Jie-rz2hf
      @Jie-rz2hf 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're joking right. Slicing with planes parallel to base will give cross-sectional circles. Slicing a cone at an angle between 90 degrees and the semi-vertical angle of the cone will give an ellipse. An ellipse can be in an egg shape.
