I am one of the few people who traveled to the edge of the freeform canvas and back, and lived to tell the tale. What I saw there, I can not repeat, but it has haunted me all my days.
Very informative. I remember creating collages back when it was VERY difficult to find the right software tools, unless you had a million bucks to drop on Photoshop or the like (which I of course did not!). I think Apple has created such a great piece of software with the unsung Freeform app. It can do so many things, from outlining a novel to creating business flow charts, to photo collages.
I resisted a long time to watch this video, didn’t need Free Forme. 🤔But always liking your vidéos I finally did it! And did I learn and got inspiration. However your exhaustive and fluid explanation made all the difference I à learning curve. I am hooked. Thanks from 🇫🇷.
Another great video! One reason to own a Mac is that it comes with many free programs, like Freeform, that you can use in many unique and different ways. Thank you for showing us yet another way to create collages for free on a Mac.
I have seen every video of yours to learn Mac to the fullest and I really appreciate your curiousness to learning and share all those tips and tricks ❤👏
Great! I've played around with freeform a bit, but didn't find it useful until this video: I write poetry that often accompanies images ..... which I could, when finished, now save as a jpg! Thanks!
Thank you, Gary. I rate your videos highly and have been watching almost all of them for quite some time. A real no-nonsense treasure trove that has taught me an awful lot. But I am struggling with Freeform (and looking at the comments below, so do others, it seems). And it goes a bit like this: hey, I can do this, then I can do this and then that and so forth. And then comes the big question: so what? I can do pretty much all of these things in other apps (Keynote, Pages, etc...) and export the results. I know it's me but I am really missing something very fundamental about Freeform, and that is "What is the point of this app?" Anyone?!
If it isn't for you, then that's OK. You don't need to use every app. Freeform helps many people visualize ideas of various types. Some may find they can create presentations with it. But others may have no use for it at all. Some may find that writing text (Pages) or creating multi-slide presentations (Keynote) works better for them when they want to visualize ideas.
Hey Gary, great video. If I wanted to use this to create a collage for a calendar, is there a ruler tool in Freeform that would allow me to size up an 8.5 by 11 page? Thanks!
No. It doesn't deal with print sizes at all. So your options are to either use Pages where it very much does deal with print sizes, or do a quick sample test (throw a few images on a board) and export and see if it is around the right resolution (or higher) when you bring it into whatever you are using to make the calendar.
Awesome Gary! 2 questions, one: I find both Mac and IPad are different features and a few missing one, is there difference between iPad and Mac? 2: How do I save it to iPad library? Thank you!
Not sure what you are asking. There are differences in the Freeform app, yes, like with the iPad you can draw. Not sure what you mean about saving to the iPad library. Saving where, exactly?
@@10OF9OFBORG If you mean save it as a file, then use the three-dots button and export it. You'll get a PDF and can choose where to save it. But if you mean save it to your Photos Library, then I don't see an easy way as you'd need another app to convert the PDF to an image format.
If ever the Guiness book of world records happens to hold a contest labelled 'Mac genius', I am sure Gary that you will be the one and only candidate worthy to receive that record😀. BTW, Freeform is available on my iPhone [SE, 2nd generation on iOS 17.0.3, but my iMac is still chugging along with Mojave and doesn't have Freeform.
I'm sure there are many third-party apps, including just regular vector graphics apps and also PowerPoint. It depends on what aspect of Freeform you are trying to recreate. I'd ask a Windows expert this though, as I wouldn't know.

Thank you. I had never found a reason to use Freeform until now.
Wow! I’ve not used Freeform but can see several things I’ve struggled to do in Pages would be easy using this. Thanks!
I always watch your videos even if I don’t need to use that app because one day something will come up where I need to - well explained too

Very informative. Thanks! 😊
Absolutely deflated to see some of these features don’t translate to the phone app. Great and informative thank you
This should work on the iPhone the same way.
This was an awesome, helpful video! Thank you!
Thank you Gary. One of those tips on framing could be used to have a background to the collage may be! 🙂

Thanks Gary! Super useful tutorial for me, learned a lot about Freeform that I was not aware of.
Once again, thank you!
Your tips are AMAZING!
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! 👏🏻❤️

Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! Some really clever ideas to try out today.

It looks like Freeform could be something I could use for quick mockups so that was really useful. Thank you!
Excellent video: Can use this for various projects.
Excellent. Thank you
Great information! Thanks
I really liked this! Thanks!

Would it be safe to say that Freeform is Keynote Light?
There is some cross-over, but with Pages too. But I wouldn't say that.
@@macmost understood.
I really wish Keynote had image rounded corners capability without having to do it using rounded corner rectangle as a mask.
Any application for Windows like freeform? @garry
