    Thanks for this one, found a few more things I can do in Preview.
    I use the text mark up tools a lot. I find if I need to use arrows I have to draw them first. If I try to add more after I start to add text boxes the iMac freezes and I have to reboot by turning the iMac off at the wall
    Apart from that very good mark up abilities

    Speaking of Markup... I use a combo of markup/text and your cliptools/saved clips to put a watermark on my photos. Just have to have saved the text of the watermark and it's easy to copy/paste it in the text box and then move it to the location I want. I also found out that if I do this twice, in contrasting colors, then put the darker version right on top of the lighter version, I can use the arrow keys to slightly offset it so I get a bit of a 3D effect.

    It would be nice if free rotations were possible so as to straighten horizons.

    • @macmost

      You can do that in the Photos app though. Even vertical and horizontal perspective straightening too. th-cam.com/video/kLyTP2BZPcs/w-d-xo.html

  • @svrfan

    Can you also use Preview to rotate the image only a few degrees, for instance to level the horizon in the picture? As far as I see it can only rotate every 45 degrees.

      No, but you can do that in the Photos app.

    Hi Garry. Do you have a video on how to scan a draw from a book and paste it to keynotes or other app and then able to edit it. I could not find a solution and your tip would be great.

    • @macmost

      Pages is not an image editor. Edit it in an app like Preview or Pixelmator Pro, depending on what you need.

    I really don’t understand why Apple removed magnification tool from iPhone’s Photo app but macOS still has it. It’s a very useful feature but I only used it on iPhone

    • @macmost

      Which tool do you mean? You can certainly zoom in, and crop, in iPhone Photos. Do you mean something else?

  • @timrichardsatsea

    Gary, I’ve been capturing a ton of screen grabs off Facebook so I can extract the text from people’s comments and collect it all in one place, as text. Is Preview the best app for this job?

    • @macmost

      Not sure what your goal is here. But you can just select and copy and paste text from a web page. So why do all of the extra steps of capturing screen grabs and extracting text from them?

  • @miketorre16

    if you open preview to view photos in "Icon view" from a folder of many photos, how can you use the arrows left and right to switch to different photos with out clicking out of each one individually? Also, when when you plus in a USB drive, doesn't the system make a sound when it is connected?

    • @macmost

      In the Preview Contacts Sheet view, use the Return key with the arrows to enlarge the selection. I don't know about your seconds question.

    • @miketorre16

      @macmost when you plug in a USB C drive in the side of the laptop. Why is there no sound indicator that it is connected, like a windows pc. I'm new to Mac.

    • @macmost

      @@miketorre16 Why questions are difficult to answer. I suppose you'd need to ask Apple, but I'm not sure how'd you get an answer from them. I'm sure it is just a design decision like many others.

    How do you delink photos app from google photos. If I delete a photo from my google app, it gets deleted from my photos app. I want to delete from google app only.

    • @macmost

      There's no way to link the Photo app to Google Photos from the Photos app side. So you must be using some feature of Google Photos to do that. How did you set it up? Unlinking it is probably using the same settings.

    • @azizmehdi101

      @@macmost I did nothing. I have both on my iPad . In fact, I have disabled the backup feature on the google photos app. The problem is that when I delete a photo on google photos, it gets deleted on my photos app. I don’t want that.

    • @macmost

      @@azizmehdi101 Not sure what the problem could be then. Google Photos must still be connected in some way. I don't use Google Photos so I'm the wrong person to ask how to fix it.

    Everything except straighten. Why does it start to dump multiple photos in a sidebar after about 15 open windows? Is this a VRAM thing? It's really annoying.

    • @macmost

      There is a left sidebar for viewing thumbnails, is that what you mean? You can hide that, but it is handy.
