That's a great explanation for how his career didn't explode after SNL the way it appeared it would. It was hard for him to reach the crowd out of character.

💯 not just because of what he says but also what he doesn’t say when Howard shows that he didn’t know Mike had been on their podcast and Spade tried to call him out on it.

Tia Carrere has said she wants to do Wayne's World 3. Let's make it happen! I think the whole thing should be Wayne narrating and going through various events that have happened in the past 30 years. Different flashbacks and fantasies with the other characters so we don't quite know what's real. Then at the end he wakes up from a coma that we find out he's been in for 20 years.
I didn't know mike and dana had issues. I have enjoyed the podcast. I have enjoyed seeing more of Spade around doing his show on Comedy Central and Netflix this last few years.

The only person that ever stood in the way of Mike Myers......was Mike Myers 😳. His ego is always at the root of all his “conflicts” with other people.
Dana had an ego too and he knows it. Mike discussed his reputation for being "difficult" in his interview with Marc Maron. Wayne's World was created by him, Austin Powers was created by him: in those projects he reckons people are going to do things his way.
OK DANA: Get Mike Myers to do another "Austin Power" movie or finish his project for "Sprockets." We all miss seeing him with you! Dana, you would be a perfect accessory for a joint project!

Dana used to do a very specific impression of Lorne Micheals backstage at SNL which included raising a pinky up to his lip. Mike Myers stole the idea and turned it into Dr Evil, but didn’t ask Dana or include him in the Austin Powers movies. Dana was pretty pissed for a long time and felt betrayed. Must have been tough to see it become so popular and successful.
You can see David Spade clearly wishes he can have the same opportunity about his buddy Chris Farley, you can tell he misses him terribly when Dana talks about his friendship with Mike.
Mike screwed Dana worse than Stan Lee screwed Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby. Dana should have played Dr.Evil in Austin Powers. That was Dana's take on Lorne Michaels. He also rode Dana's popularity to get Wayne's World on the show.
Well the only part of the Michaels impression that was solely Carveys was the pinky the rest of the impression was the same impression everyone at SNL did, and considering the Characters created by Myers for Wayne's World put Dana Carvey in two movies, I think Dana came out O.K. in that exchange.
Every member of SNL has an impression of Lorne and even if we wanted to pretend he was the first, Dana Carvey would in no way benefit if Dr Evil didn't exist. Nothing was taken away from Dana and even he is not bothered by the thing you appear to be.
