I bought an extra 35 gallon tank from a similar model '08 GM truck with regular cab to install into bed of a '18 GM truck. It came complete with the fuel pump AND the complete evaporative control and tank venting system from a salvage yard (rollover). These trucks actually monitor the tank pressure evap system. Was trying to figure out how to plumb it in. Gravity feed won't work as it has to be open to atmosphere to move the fuel from upper to lower tank. I bought the high pressure fuel tank switch/transfer valve for a certain motorhome (Winn) with GM gas engine. It switches both high pressure fuel supply and the return. The tricky part is combining/ balancing the evap systems between the two tanks so it doesn't trip a code. Just used the correct charcoal canister , evap control /vent valves , teed all lines in and piggy backed electrical solenoids. Second charcoal canister in back of truck bed needs to be mounted higher than or at the same height above tank as the original setup from top of tank so it doesn't fill up with fuel when refilling it. It is all covered up with a bed cover until it needs refilling. Then put a DPDT toggle switch inside the truck to switch the fuel pumps and gauge sending units when transferring tanks. So that means splicing into the factory tank harness . Runs off the second tank until almost empty then flip to factory tank. Extra fuel weight = 215# plus weight of factory plastic 35 gallon tank and hardware.
I’m having this problem right now. I didn’t really know about the system. So I currently have it wired up right now for the gravity feed and it can work but after a bit that check engine light comes on. Anyways to keep it gone and right??
Any issues with sensors going off in the truck, I'm talking about on the dash... Or having issues with the motor... And what truck did you do this to? Thanks...
I was gonna ask the same thing, I had tank mounted before and the shop had me do a 12v fuel pump mounted in my cab because gravity feed is illegal on gas trucks I guess, i over filled it a couple times tho becuase the gauge had a delay to show me when it was full so I would always guess really. This time I’m gonna do gravity feed, just seems so much easier to deal with

Anyway you can post what attachments you used and what specific Solenoid you used
How did you attach the fitting to the trucks filler hose? Weld it?
