Excellent mindset! Start with “why” not “money”. When i started my carpentry business I knew nothing about it and for the first 13 months I struggled to barely make $500/mo in sales and considered quitting several times; but I promised myself I’d see it through for 24 months regardless the outcome. I was glad I did. Month 13, like the flip of a switch, I had a breakthrough and started making $1,000 in sales a day. Stick with it, don’t quit! It’s like the universe tests you to see how bad you really want it. Erika you are inspiring! Keep going!
Steve, you are inspiring!!! I love that it was like a flip of a switch for you--that's what I hear from many people. I'm so glad you stuck with it. I have a similar 24 month timeframe as well.
Congrats to you Steve! This year, I left a high paying corporate job to pursue my passion project full time with my partners. We launched an HR Consulting Firm to help small and medium size companies. Like Erika, I also provide pro Bono service to a non-profit where I serve as a board member and give free HR expertise and consultation. As you can probably understand, the journey has been scary and exciting.
I just subscribed. Great video! I worked as a CPA for one of the largest accounting firms in the world for 4 years. I was working very long hours and I was stressed out. I’m so happy I found a career as a real estate agent because that gives me more freedom, a better work life balance, I make more money PLUS I have a positive impact on people’s lives by helping them with arguably the biggest financial decision of their lives (buying/selling a house). On top of that, I get to share that on TH-cam. Keep up the great work and I look forward to following your journey!
“Do what you love, and love what you do!” That is the secret to happiness, and no sum of money can ever buy it. Keep up the great work. Much appreciated.
So far so good, I have money invested in the stock market. I also earn passive income from my TH-cam channel via adsense, affiliate marketing, and PayPal donations. I'm actively creating new streams every day 😁
@@Erika2 Thanks Erika I'm working and doing what I can little by little. I can say the same for you! 😁 TH-cam has this compounding effect that's really awesome. Awesome video, Erika! No need to be embarrassed at all - much better to take a pay cut, even if just temporary, but love what you're doing in the process, rather than make a ton of money but not enjoy (or even be miserable) in the process. Living your dreams and making less money is well worth it! Keep up the great work, Erika - I'm sure if not by the end of March, you'll be monetized at some point soon this year.
Thank you Josh! This is an awesome comment and I completely agree with you--making less money is well worth it! I am SO much happier than I was a year ago today. Would make the decision to go after my dream job 10x over. Hope you have a wonderful day!

I wish I had the courage to leave the security for a paycheck to pursue what will make me happy. Every job pays just enough to keep you coming back, but NEVER enough to leave. Instead, I have been taking a slow approach, working towards building personal businesses with whatever time and energy I have left over. It's a safe approach, but the cost is the amount of time its taking to get there. Erika, I do envy the approach you are taking and I fully believe there is a lesson here for everyone to learn.

Now that I know your story it is an amazing one, noble one and will pay off in due time. As someone that is working on passive income in many ways myself it definitely takes some time, patience, discipline and consistency. Like with most things there will be a flat line build up, a bump/spike, then things will take off.
Erika, you are smart enough to know the amount of potential you are building at the moment, and have in fact planned for this. One thing I think we all have in common here, is the we fully understand the concept of delayed gratifications. OH, for everyone, leave Erika running in the background to help goose her numbers.
I can completely relate to the learning of intangible skills so much, including appearance means quite a bit when representing your brand, so I’m actually on a weight loss journey to improve my appearance on camera for TH-cam. It’s definitely a lot of learning, but I love to learn so I don’t mind. We got this Erika! :)
We got this!!! :). Re: weight loss, I am sure you are PERFECT the way you are! Please don't worry about that or let it hinder you from being on camera. It's all about projecting confidence. I think that's the most important part of it.
Love this!! I completely 100% agree with this the whole concept of intangible wins! I learned a lot myself this year which I couldn’t/wouldn’t have learned otherwise
Solid stuff, Erika. Very useful, very insightful, and - if I'm being completely honest - very inspiring! Keep it up! I hope things are fantastic on your end.
You have a solid channel. Hope you grow fast. It does take a lot of time, I am on the slow path myself. Love that you are doing pro bono work. Will get on with the binge watching. 😃
Great video Erika. I really love your humility and your genuine will to help others. You are doing great, soon you will break 2k subs and the more videos you get out there. The faster you will grow
Erika Kullberg: Finance, Investing, Passive Income I did 😊 But It’s a strange and humbling feeling that 1k people has watched my content and found some value in it.
This whole video is inspo. I love learning all the things you’ve learned. Services you provide. It’s a nice set up. Well ran channel. Makes me want to vlog that much more.
Erika Kullberg: Finance, Investing, Passive Income since watching your video... I did gain the motivation I needed to watch an iMovie tutorial (chose iMovie due to the fact graham Stephan has said that’s what he’s used) and that it would be no out of cost pocket to me as I’m in the Apple eco system. It went well and your comment couldn’t have landed at a better time. It was just as I was considering it that much more & more. Thanks for the response and having your channel. It’s definitely creating a positive ripple effect. Excited to see it grow!
I love this! I love your mindset; so inspiring. Your channel has definitely opened up my eyes to more than the mere idea of simply making money and spending it out of habit. So, thank you! I am still pretty new to personal finance tips and your channel, but I am definitely feeling confident after watching your content!
Erika, I want to add to those voices that are saying Erika is inspiring me. I am seeing some new possibility that I wouldn't think of on my own. Thank you
@@Erika2 thanks. I tend to fall into the mindset that I don't have skills that are very marketable for building wealth. Only an AA Degree and lots of volunteer work. However, I think I just need to flip my thinking a bit. I am going to start reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. ❤️
Wow that thumbnail got me clicking fast. I’ve been thinking about this myself when I decide to make a change to focus on TH-cam full time. Once I get my income somewhat close to my current job. I’ll be making the switch.
Another great video. Creating passive income is hard at first, but like a rock traveling down a snowy mountain, it accumulates enough debris until it is an immovable force. Keep doing what your doing and the results will manifest themselves. Taking the path less taken is never easy, but it will yield a bountiful return!
Erika, thank you for the great insight. I love how transparent and honest you are. My short-term goal is m&a at an investment bank after I get into a top MBA program. It would be great to learn more about your experience as a corporate attorney. I’m getting started in my passive income journey through equity investing, which I hope to spread out to other avenues.
Hi Andrew, thanks for watching! Are you going through the GMAT /application process right now so you'll start in 2021? That's so exciting! I took the GMAT too, back when I thought business school might be the right path for me. I'm planning on doing a couple of videos where I talk about being a corporate attorney :) I LOVE that you're getting started with your passive income journey--the sooner you can start, the better!
@@Erika2 I recently built out my plan. Since I am only 24 with 2 years of work experience, I plan to begin studying for the GMAT within the next few months. Then I'll apply in Fall 2021/Spring 2022 and matriculate in Fall 2022 when I have stronger experience and will be around the average age for most programs. Thank you. I'll make sure to watch those videos when they drop. Best of luck with your channel! I'm now subscribed.
Such a small world! Thank you for the kind words ! Appreciate your support since it's very hard to find other lawyers who understand or support what I'm doing. This all seems crazy to them.
@@Erika2 I know what you are going through. Keep pushing it. What you do is amazing and I am pretty sure you will be able to accomplish your passive income goal. I am on a very similar journey to yours :). I'll keep watching.
My current job more or less requires me to use social media which I haven’t had since high school except for Snapchat. Is there anything you’ve found useful since getting into social media and using SEOs? Passive income is such a good thing for me to have started. I don know if it’s my competitive nature or my ADHD but I want things to happen now and I’m constantly comparing people in their late 20s or 30s instead of focusing on people my age. It’s just one of those things that takes time. Having to tell yourself to just give it time is a big start. Also, how did friends and family react to your drastic career change?
Oops, hit enter too quickly. Which passive income streams do you have/are you pursuing? Can't remember if we've discussed before. I agree--it's human nature to compare yourself against what others are doing or have achieved, but honestly, it's amazing that you're already into personal finance and passive income in your early 20's. You're way ahead of the crowd on that one. For social media/SEO - For IG I think connecting with other people in the personal finance space has been really good. I try to be pretty consistent in posting something to the stories at least one every few days. SEO - I'm in the process of learning but haven't applied yet. I've just been learning all of the different strategies. For family/friends reactions: surprisingly, my family was very supportive. I need to do a video soon on "WHY I QUIT" but currently working up the courage, but I think the people very close to me knew how unhappy I was and when I finally quit they were proud of me for making the jump.
Erika Kullberg: Finance, Investing, Passive Income Right now for passive income I have my dividend investing and high yield savings account which I think accounts for about $30-40 of passive income which right now just pays for a haircut, some toothpaste, and a good face wash haha. I feel like it’s a little bit detrimental in practice because you could be at the peak of where you are but you’re looking ahead and not enjoying the fruits of your labor but if that’s who I’m in the room with at the moment that’s who I’m comparing myself to. At the new job I’m with people my age and I’m doing better than them so that thought process has kind of stagnated because it’s like I’m the smartest person in the room. I definitely think that social media and SEOs are about consistency and interaction too! For social media because the more you interact, the more people will come back. It’s like if you had 2 of your channel and posted each video twice and on one channel you interacted and on the other you didn’t, people would probably go to the one where you interact. Then on a consistency standpoint if they know when you’re going to interact they’ll be on a lookout since people tend to be creatures of habit. And for SEO, that interaction shows higher popularity so it’ll be pushed further to the top. It’s so awesome that you’re family’s as supportive as they are. When I left my last job, even though I didn’t have a job for a few weeks after, and even though I wasn’t nearly at the level you were at, my family was really supportive because they could tell I was miserable. Being at a job that was just a job was miserable and being at that job for so long pretty much warped my personality and started to change it into a more negative person.. One of my professors at school was telling me about a situation similar to yours with their student who came back to visit- they were incredibly bright in their field, graduated, and got a really good job with some company and they were making close to, or above 6 figures but they were miserable as a 21 year old. And even though he was making a really good living for someone that young, the guy said he’d wake up everyone morning and quite literally scream his salary at his reflection in the mirror in the morning just so he could get himself to go to work which is absolutely insane to me.
You're amazing! Good luck on your journey. Been here since the start. I also took the bullet when it comes to income. It's a decision I've made multiple times. We're doing something quite similar but in a different market. All the best, Kury
Thank you for being so real and honest. I used to be in the real estate business, brokering notes, vending and a cleaning business. They are all gone due to a divorce but the rebuilding process does take much time. I have so much respect for what you are doing because i'm in the process of doing the exact same thing. I'm also on facebook under jimbluenet
Thank you for saying that! I think it's important to be transparent about this kind of stuff so that others can see that they are not alone in starting the journey. Wishing you luck! I'm sure you'll be able to build a great business!
Thank you Erika! and when you come visit Maui for vacation someday, please let me know. i would love to meet you in person, because you are indeed INSPIRING!

My goodness, most lawyers I know are nightmares. I dated a very successful one for years. He was vindictive. My cousins mother is one. She is spiteful and extremely manipulative. No wonder you never heard “Erika” and “Inspirational” together in a sentence. For one, they probably knew you were above the bureaucracy and egotistical attitudes and secondly, they could likely sense that you had a true and genuine heart. I think it is incredible what you are doing. I really wish more attorneys had your spirit and demeanor. Wouldn’t we be in a better world?! 😅
Erika Kullberg: Finance, Investing, Passive Income Awww I’m so happy to hear that! That’s the best gift you can give someone. We need a world where we build each other up rather than tearing each other down. I’m here so see you reach your goals and dreams! 💞

Hey Jermaine! Thank you for watching yet another video. I love that I can always look forward to your comments. Yes, would LOVE for you to pursue a passive income stream. Keep me updated!
Ms.Kullberg: Thanks for making the sacrifice of ditching the million dollar "M&A"legal salary to help poor people like me living in the hood who can't afford a M&A lawyer. You are truly a great attorney who is truly blessed with BRAINS & BEAUTY and deserve the best. If I ever win the lottery I will definitely send you a few crumbs to your business after I take care of my 5 student loans ,10 brothers,8 sisters,4 stepfathers ,3 step mothers and 2 adopted pit bulls living with my grand mother.

Hey Erika great vid. How does webull's affiliate program work? Like is it a per person sign up flat rate or is it dependent on how much that person deposits into their acc? Thanks!
Hey, how are you?! Thank you! So Webull has a structure - basically if the person signs up and deposits nothing, you get $X, if the person deposits less than $100, you get $X, and if the person deposits at least $100, you get $X. Sorry I can't reveal the amounts by contract, but hopefully this gives you a sense :)

I appreciate the transparency. Hopefully your endeavors act as a flywheel and, while hard to get started, gain an almost unstoppable momentum.
Thank you Donald!! Very much appreciate the confidence in me :)
Now THAT is a pay cut! Way to go chasing your dreams Erika. Build something no one can take away from you. Can't wait to see you succeed! :)
Thank you so much!! I appreciate it!! :)
Love this!! I completely 100% agree with this the whole concept of intangible wins! I learned a lot myself this year which I couldn’t/wouldn’t have learned otherwise
Erika is Inspiring! I wish your videos are a class during 1st year of college
You are actually inspiring me and bringing my hope back. Thank you. ❤
Solid stuff, Erika. Very useful, very insightful, and - if I'm being completely honest - very inspiring!
Keep it up! I hope things are fantastic on your end.
Thank you Anthony! I'm so excited that you took the time to watch it. How are things on your end?

You have a solid channel. Hope you grow fast. It does take a lot of time, I am on the slow path myself. Love that you are doing pro bono work.
Will get on with the binge watching. 😃
You're amazing haha, thank you for the kind words! Slow path is the way to go :).
Great video Erika. I really love your humility and your genuine will to help others.
You are doing great, soon you will break 2k subs and the more videos you get out there. The faster you will grow
Thank you Jerry!! I already mentioned this above but I'm so excited you hit 1k!! Make sure to screenshot it as a memory :)

Thank you so much! You should totally vlog! It's a good way to track the progress in your life :)
I love this! I love your mindset; so inspiring. Your channel has definitely opened up my eyes to more than the mere idea of simply making money and spending it out of habit. So, thank you! I am still pretty new to personal finance tips and your channel, but I am definitely feeling confident after watching your content!
This is such an awesome comment to receive--thank you Elysia! I'm so happy to hear this!

Erika, I want to add to those voices that are saying Erika is inspiring me. I am seeing some new possibility that I wouldn't think of on my own.
Thank you
This makes me so happy!!!!! Don’t stop yourself from pursuing what you want-you have to be your own biggest cheerleader!
@@Erika2 thanks. I tend to fall into the mindset that I don't have skills that are very marketable for building wealth. Only an AA Degree and lots of volunteer work. However, I think I just need to flip my thinking a bit. I am going to start reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. ❤️
Great content! Keep putting in the work. You're doing great!
Thank you Marco! Really appreciate your constant support.
That's awesome that you get to pursue your dream and really make a difference! Way to go Erika!!

Wow that thumbnail got me clicking fast. I’ve been thinking about this myself when I decide to make a change to focus on TH-cam full time. Once I get my income somewhat close to my current job. I’ll be making the switch.
Haha, I'm glad the thumbnail worked! You'll have to keep me updated on that... I'm sure you'll achieve it pretty soon!
I've watched about half of your videos but will put all of them on loop to do my part in helping your channel reach that 4000 hr mark this month :-)
OMG I laughed out loud, hahaha. You are AMAZING. No need to go out of your way to do that but I appreciate the thought! :D
Another great video. Creating passive income is hard at first, but like a rock traveling down a snowy mountain, it accumulates enough debris until it is an immovable force. Keep doing what your doing and the results will manifest themselves. Taking the path less taken is never easy, but it will yield a bountiful return!
Thank you so much! I really like the analogy of the rock.
Great mindset and bravery! You will grow bigger soon :) Best of luck!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the transparency!
Thank you!! It's my pleasure! I think more people need to be transparent :)
I'm planning on doing a couple of videos where I talk about being a corporate attorney :)
I LOVE that you're getting started with your passive income journey--the sooner you can start, the better!
@@Erika2
I recently built out my plan.
Hope you are feeling better soon blessings always thank you for the messages.
Hey Erika! Great video. You should be proud of yourself for your accomplishment . Signing off, fellow corporate M&A lawyer :).
@@alexandruulici-buyingfreed9118 Thank you so much!
Hey Colin! I always love your thought-provoking questions. These are really good.
And even though he was making a really good living for someone that young, the guy said he’d wake up everyone morning and quite literally scream his salary at his reflection in the mirror in the morning just so he could get himself to go to work which is absolutely insane to me.
ahhh just catching this update now. you're doing great!!!!!
Thank you so much!
You're amazing! Good luck on your journey. Been here since the start.
I also took the bullet when it comes to income. It's a decision I've made multiple times. We're doing something quite similar but in a different market.
