    Ronaldo is primarily the reason I fell in love with football. Watching him lead that Brazil team to glory in 2002 with his goals was spell-binding. If he hadn't had that horrific knee injury in his time at Inter, the records he would have would be innumerable.

    Ronaldo was different gravy, but don’t sleep on mid 90s Shearer. Top two strikers in the world at the time. Bobby knew game..

      Shearer in the top two? You are mad. Typical English nonsense. All the great strikers like van Basten, Papin, Romario, Batistuta, etc.. He wasn't even better than Stoichkov. I won't even mention Vialli, Vieri, Rivaldo, Kluivert etc.. You people are hilarious.

      @@Al-ji4gd if Messi was English you say he was rubbish. Bias. Shearer is the top goal scorer of the best league in the world and was runner up to the Ballon d'or in 1996... runner up to Ronaldo!

    • @providename

      @@Al-ji4gd 1.Van Basten, Papin, Romario, Stoichkov. Their primes all came pre mid 90's.
      2. Rivaldo wasn't a striker.
      3. Compare any of the others best goalscoring seasons against mid 90's Shearer and they come up short.
      However, all amazing players no doubt.

    • @Al-ji4gd
      @Al-ji4gd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@providename Ok, we agree on some things, like them all being great players, but..
      1. We can argue about mid-90s, early-90s, whatever. All I know is that Stoichkov won the Ballon d'Or in 1994. Is that not mid-1990s? Romario was still banging 30 goals in 33 games for Barca in 1994 and then carried on scoring for fun for another 10 years almost. That's not mid-1990s? Papin and van Basten, sure, but that's because van Basten had retired and Papin was already past his prime.
      2. Rivaldo wasn't a striker? What would you call him, then? I don't know what other position he could possibly be. We can nitpick about types for forward, centre-forward, etc, but anyone responsible for goalscoring is a striker in my eyes, and Rivaldo fits that bill.
      3. They mostly come up short because they played in competitive leagues. The Premiership circa 1995 was not even the 3rd best league in Europe, realistically. Very few of the world's best players were playing there at that point, and leagues such as La Liga and Serie A, maybe even the Bundesliga, were light-years ahead as far as quality. You think Shearer is hitting those numbers in those other countries? Doubtful. I recommend watching some football from England the 90s and you'd see how poor the quality of it actually is.

Dont forget Ronaldo need to be sedated in 1998 finals he never could handle the pressure like Pele or Romario. ppl also forget how Zico was great, give me Zico in any game infront Ronaldo because those legendary players played with some difficult environment way less money and too many bully fouls and players in their era.

      R9 played against some of the best defenders ever at a time when men played hard and could foul without getting red carded for doing so. Different era....different class of player...Sorry. But I am sure CR7 would agree if he was to be honest.

    Y’all be tripping when it comes to r9. Wonderfully gifted yes I agree. In his prime with the ball he was unstoppable but did he ever score pass 50 in a season? Or year. In terms of goal scoring Micah saying r9 would get 50 goals this season. While cristianl in his prime was getting 60 consecutively. Y’all be forgetting the first 4 years in madrid of cristianl. He was the most complete foward

      90s La Liga and Serie A were no joke. The chances of somehow even getting 40 were slim to none, let alone 50. It's not La Liga circa 2013 where Madrid and Barca were winning every bloody game 4-0 and 6-1. R9 would score 10-20 more goals now than he did back then because the pitches are better, the refs are more strict and defenders these days pale in comparison to those from 20-30 years ago.

    • @patinho5589
      @patinho5589 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      R9 averaged a goal a game between the ages of 16-21.
      He would have kept that up without injuries. So yes 50 a season.
      And today there are more goals per game scored.

    • @patinho5589
      @patinho5589 ปีที่แล้ว

      At Madrid cr7 had Marcelo and the others working their socks off to provide him the chances.
      R9 in that situation would have scored even more I’d say.

      Goalscoring is up in general since his time. Plus in 1998 they removed slide tackles from behind with the serious foul play rule.
