Membrane sails might have poor laminar flow due to the surface irregularities. Monofilm I believe will create better lift/drag ratio due to this aspect. Surface roughness plays an incredibly important role in aerodynamic performance. Did you consider this?
Dave O'Riordan, only reason for him to talk down membrane sails is that if his customers started to buy membrane sails, he wouldn’t make any profit because they would simply be too expensive. Even worse, if his customers found out how good other membrane sails are, he wouldn’t make any profit at all 😂
@RasmusSaas: here is „this guy doesn’t know much about membrane sails“. Please let me know what facts are wrong about my presentation. This way I can modify it for my next presentation. BTW despite our honesty about membrane sails we have sold much more than we expected. But we still prefer to be honest with our customers about what they can expect from the different sail constructions. Cause every construction has its advantages but also disadvantages.
for example technora and dyneema are completely different polymers. Technora is a brand name for aramid (another brand name for aramid is Kevlar). Dyneema is ultra high molecular weight polyethylene.
how do you repair laminate tear? do you sell any x-ply material with adhesive repair kit? Apparently you cannot sew these materials anymore.
This guy is so honest. This is what all lthe industry should do
he’s bullshitting other manufacturers products because he is scared 😱

The irregularities are well within the boundary layer, they are of almost zero consequence.

The first time I have ever thought about looking more into North/Duotone products! I wish all brands would be as no bullsh!t with their product info.

I'll stick to Avanti :)
Can’t tell if this guy is a great spokesperson or a horrible one...lol
Pavel Filkov, I think he should speak of his own products. Others doesn’t make membranes that way.
This guy doesn’t know much about
membrane sails 😂
Hi Rasmus! So, please tell us more about membrane sails.
