Beautiful Vibrator! That was one of the airplanes of my youth! Damn, I love that sound. I learned to fly in 1956 in a tail dragger but never had the opportunity to fly one of these old warbirds. Damn, that's nice! Thanks for posting.
First warbird I ever got a ride in was a BT-13, at the Madera Gathering of Warbirds. Went up during a photo sortie and ended up on the pages of Air Progress.
Oh no, another of my favorite warbirds! All polished up for me just in time for Christmas! You and Jim shouldn't have! HA HA! Seriously, let's go flying someday soon! Another great and fun video!!!
My grandpa bought one if these with a buddy after WWII for $500. They paid $250 each & flew it home. Kids came along for them both & they sold it. I sure wish I knew what happened to it. Jim you have a beautiful plane. Thanks for sharing it with us. -B
thats a beauty! im so glad my grandpa sold it to you because it would just sit in his hangar all day. now it gets to be in the finest flying museum in the world. he let me fly it once a few years ago. hope all is well up there with everyone ( i like the flyby over stonehenge!)
I found an old document that I copied from my old neighbor. His father ferried the BT-13 from Downey, CA to Enid, OK along with other pilots Hahn, Smilanich, Emigh, Ament, F. Miller. Melichar, etc. I think his name was ''Ernie'. He also flew the B-17 and P-38. In addition, he flew the 'Hump' from DumDum and also flew for Lockheed with H.S. and T.L. He had a foot locker filled with lots of photos and mementoes. I since have lost touch with him. Sorry I did now.
Flew N58423 BT back in 1987 Engine failure caused me to land on I25 north of Casper,WY Broken piston rod. Worked out fine, new engine and off we went a month later.
Oh my gosh that thing sounds gorgeous!!! I don't know if I could stand there as steady as you on the low pass. ;) But if he ever heads over to Spokane I would love a chance to try! LOL

Loved the video. I was fortunate enough to log about 40 hours in a BT-13 in the mid-80s. Loved flying it. Nothing like the old 985 rumbling overhead.
