Great reviews you are doing! Very nicely analysed and edited. I hope you continue with some more from this era! May I suggest a few more hidden gems from the 80's? The Boy who could fly, The Manhattan Project (with John Lithgow) and Birdy? Anyhow I look forward to seeing your channel progress.
Many thanks 🙏 appreciate the comments! yes some great suggestions there, funnily enough I put the Manhattan project out there to my Facebook followers definitely a hidden gem 👍 once again thanks for watching 🙏🙏
A strange fact about this film is that initially it was a straight-to-video movie in the UK, with a vhs release in July 1986. But it also received a UK theatrical release around December 1986, with the movie still on general release in early 1987. I became aware of the cinema release because it was reviewed on Barry Norman's film show. I can't think of any other film pre-pandemic which had a similar release pattern.
I only remember the clips from this movie that were shown in the paramount family favorites previews on rugrats vhs tapes, they were my favorite highlight of those tapes. I just wish someone would do a retrospective of Dragonworld (another movie that was showcased in those previews)
Thanks for the info. Yes unfortunately it was Released after I produced the retrospective! Which was a great shame ! Glad it’s got the deserved release. Thanks for sharing and for watching 🙏
Plus 30 minutes worth of deleted scenes, which really do improve the film. These were thought lost forever for years, until Joe Dante found a vhs tape of an earlier workprint version in his garage.
I do like this film, especially the first half, but you can tell it was never properly finished. As you say, it falls down a bit in the third act, I'm not so keen watching this film as an adult, you can see it could have been so much more than it ended up. Great review though!
You're a great reviewer, and your reviews are very professional in their content and style, up there with the best of them. Keep up the great work, look forward to many more!
Thanks for comment. Sorry you don’t agree about the ending but we all have our own prospective on movies and many fans and even the director share my opinion, considering it’s production problems. However that said I do end it on the positives and do recommend Explorers. Thanks for watching.
The main theme in this movie is awesome. Gets me in the feels.
Love goldsmiths score ! Thanks for sharing and for watching! 🙏
I have always loved this movie, I was born in 78, it was made for my exact age.
You certainly were 👍 again thanks for watching and for the comment 🙏

Learning they started filming before writing the ending really explains a lot about this film, thanks for the upload.

I am sure you know, but Shout Factory has released a blu ray with both cuts of the film, and several interviews.
Thanks for the info. Yes unfortunately it was Released after I produced the retrospective! Which was a great shame !

Great to hear your a fan of this underrated cult 80’s classic 🙏thanks for watching and welcome 👍
The film is wonderful and almost perfect. The fact that many have not understood the message does not depend on it.
Thanks for sharing 👍
What a film might watch it now being back some memories
Enjoy! Thanks for watching and for commenting 👍😎
Still love this movie even though they screwed up the ending. Its sad actually cause the first half is so great.

You're welcome
The third act of this review is a disappointment. I never had a problem with the finale of this film. It makes sense considering what came before.
Thanks for comment. Sorry you don’t agree about the ending but we all have our own prospective on movies and many fans and even the director share my opinion, considering it’s production problems. However that said I do end it on the positives and do recommend Explorers. Thanks for watching.
