I agree for (one of my reasons is that they don't have SR2)but really aliens is better; doing races in Hong kong. they all are extremely different things at heart. Also JC2 multiplayer shouldn't be on any best games list because it's a MOD.

MrSolarGames 2.0 On some things, you're right, but not all. For example, GTA has always had the ability to fight with your fists, and in San Andreas you could learn different styles of fighting, including martial arts. So why does the melee still suck after all these years? Even after Sleeping Dogs, GTA has the same boring punches and kicks. Why can't you leap from one moving vehicle to another to steal it? Is that *so* wild a transition from the GTA series that it's forbidden? Further, I think that defense can't be used anymore, ever since they added yoga and golf. Claude from GTA 3 wouldn't be caught dead doing yoga, and Tommy Vercetti would only pick up a golf club to beat someone to death with it.
To clarify, I guess I'm calling these things "better" from a gamer standpoint and not the standpoint of an appreciator of art? If that makes any sense. Basically, I think games should be *fun* first and foremost, and whatever can be added to make the game more fun, makes it better. This is particularly true of sandbox games in which you're supposed to be some kind of a badass, which *is* GTA.
Vic 2.0 They should improve the combat, I agree. But as I said, GTA has a more realistic focus, and jumping car-from-car ain't really on...

Only the fighting of Sleeping Dogs is true, other things are not meant to be in a GTA game. GTA have a balance between realism and arcade.
You should be able to throw people in your trunk like you can in Sleeping Dogs. I'm pretty sure you even do it at some point in GTA V
+Ensar Osman The 2 things they said about sleeping dogs is better, the hand to hand combat(useing guns just awful) and the way it records your longest clean drive ect driving is terrible tbh trying to move the camera while in a vechicle is terrible that stupid karoky missing was so dumb, overall the game doesnt compare to gta 4 let alone 5 iv played enough of sleeping dogs to know this haha :L:L

+TheKrash926 The driving in Sleeping Dogs has more of a 'kart' feel but it works brilliantly for what it's trying to do, the game is more focused on combat so it makes sense not to have a massive learning curve on the driving at the expense of a little bit of accuracy.

GTA IV doesn't get enough credit, I like both 4 and 5 but GTA IV did a lot of things better, the story was better...the mechanics were better, the open world was better, the police shootouts were a lot more fun in my opinion....everybody says it's just a boring game where you go bowling with your cousin....if you actually played through the whole story you wouldn't be saying ignorant stuff like that.
Obviously, GTA 5 is shit now. Four has a great story and back line. It also is way more realistic in physics and other things.
Gta V came with my ps3 super slim. I really was not that hype for it. I played about 30hours and was really bored. Yeah it has a lot of content but is not really great at anything it does. Then I bought gta ViceCity and SA and had so fun. GTA:SA, JustCause2, SaintsRow3, Red Dead, Skyrim. They all have a lot of content but also have a primary focus that defines them. GTA 5 realy dose not have that. which leaves it seeming very bland and boring... But thats just me :/ eh.

I agree, I'm barely playing GTA V at all. Came back to play some San Andreas, and started playing some Saints Row games. The Third is probably my favorite. But I had a great time in the beginning of GTA V. But after the story was done, I just waited the whole time for online. Now I just wait for the heists so I can play for some more days. But I'd rather play Assassin´s Creed, Saints Row, other GTA´s and of course Dying Light when it comes out. Looks really amazing to me.
i think the main defining point of gta 5 is the multiplayer. you get to run around with your friends and do literally whatever the fuck you want. in the single player you do that to, but i feel online lets you have more freedom. personally i liked the story, being able to switch between charecters was new, and each character had stuff going on, like while micheals in a family feud, trevors shooting bikers and smoking meth. it really potreys the criminal underbelly of los santos and i like it, although after the storys over it does get a little stale (sorry about grammar i wanna type this fast and am to lazy to check my spelling lol)

Nik Las I agree. IMO, Just Cause 2 is the best open world game to date. I was giving that title to a tie between GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Vice City or Sleeping Dogs but when I discovered JC2 it was all over.
Vic 2.0 I dunno, GTA V is quite literally the bar setter. But JC2 is similar only in gameplay, and whenver I look at GTA compared to JC2, the cars seem like hot wheels in JC2. Don't get me wrong, I love JC2 more than GTA, because you can use bolo patch and attach 50 soldiers to a plane and fly low over a highway. But GTA has better feel, because the cars feel like cars, not toys.

***** JC2? *Tons* of replay value, IMO. It never stops being fun for me, taking over military bases and airstrips. Even the collectibles were fun to collect. So I'm actually looking forward to starting a new game whenever I finish this one (Plus I want to do a lot of the missions again, because I had fun with most of those as well).
***** Well just about *all* I can remember about GTA 5 are the characters, as far as that goes. The gameplay itself was a dreadful bore, and I only remember the characters because they were so freaking annoying. But back to Just Cause 2. Repetitive missions? I have no idea how you can think they're repetitive, unless all you did were the stronghold takeovers (of which there was only a handful). The rest of them (i.e., the vast majority of them) were *extremely* varied. I never knew what kind of crazy shit I was signing up for, from one mission to the next. And there's plenty to do in JC2. They don't all have to be "real-life simulators" as GTA 5 has been called for shoving in crap like golf, tennis, and yoga. You can take over tons of military bases or airstrips which is always a blast (literally), hunt down collectibles (which actually help you in gameplay, I might add), do the missions or do race challenges - anything from driving on land, to driving a boat, to flying in a jet or helicopter or free-falling/parachuting. It's plenty of gameplay.
Yes, the graphics in GTA 5 were amazing. I really enjoyed just driving around and looking around. But then, I enjoyed that just as much if not more in JC2 also.
Saints row 3 and 4 were so fucking lame. They had a great ass story going with 1 and 2 and totally fucked it up. Why the hell did they go so left with it? They lost a lot of fans doing that and they actually had something to build off of. They were trying to compete with GTA in terms of open world games, but they flushed that down the toilet when they decided to kill the game that got them so many fans. Sure they have fans NOW but not nearly as many as they had when Saints row 2 was released.
i think your question is rhetorical but let me try and clear the air. THQ owned saints row for 1 and 2, after liquidation they sold the IP, hence the drastic change. i've only played 1 and 2 but tbh, when i played 2 i noticed a quite substantial "left turn" as it was, gradually slipping into ridiculousness but thats not bad, i mean, if the new owners of saints row were to continue with the same stuff it wouldnt feel right, its not the same devs and ridiculousness has a bad connatation to it, like linear gameplay, it can work very well sometimes.
They never switched devs just pubs. Volition still devs the game ans yes 2 was better than 3 and 4. Its all about the wow can't believe they'd do that factor now

Lego City Undercover makes me laugh
Max Payne Sadly i never got around to 100% of RDR, I just found it so much fun exploring, doing bounties, and hunting. Undead nightmare in my opinion is the greatest DLC i have ever played. It'was just one of the more unique zombie games i have ever played. :D

Sleeping Dogs was amazing. The story was very good, the setting was a nice change of pace from every other New York-based open world game, and the characters were almost all interesting. IF you haven't checked it out its a great game.

The only thing I can agree with in this entire video is the "martial arts" from watch dogs & the mini game "leaderboards" from watch dogs. Everything else is pure shit. Especially the Saints Row reference. As of late, Saints Row is based upon crude humor, something GTA doesn't need. About the "martial arts" thing, San Andreas had it, I have no idea why they took it out, but it was there. Also, the Lego game had no reason to be in the video. It is a game for kids, comparing it to GTA is absurd...

Oblivion is, and will always be the greatest open world game ever created. What that game did for it's time. To think that it came out in 2005. Right when the 360 and PS3 came out. It's astonishing how good of a game it is for how old it is.
Morrowind did the same but better. Morrowind got released in 2001 and has a bigger map then Skyrim. It was a totally new experience. It has so much side activities and so much to discover,
MeAndThatGuyXD and combat difficulty aside, quest were at least something to figure out most of the time with Morrowind... Oblivion and Skyrim (even more) hold your hand way too much... Having a marker to a certain location isn't all bad, but once arrived at the cave, having it removed would be great... Let me solve the puzzle once in a while, Bethesda, please D:
Oblivion is the only Elder Scrolls game i didn't finish. It was boring as hell. Morrowind on the other hand was brilliant and one of the best open world games ever made. And even now, 12 years later, I would still rather play Morrowind than many modern games (especially with the overhaul MOD that pimps up the graphics).
But believe it or not, even more than Morrowind and Skyrim I enjoyed playing Gothic (1, 2+addon and 3); another open world, fantasy set of games. Those kicked TES ass!! Yes, even Gothic 3 that received the most hate because of all the bugs and lack of polishing (but even that was fixed thanks to the community patches).
Morrowind - The Ultimate Wizard Experience. Bar none.
The only game on here that is worth a shit is Sleeping Dogs, none of the others even hold a candle to GTA.... And you should have mentioned Saints Row 2 instead of 4.

Saints Row 4 doesnt want to be anything serious, its just a parody of every other open world game out there. And Lego City undercover... just... wow. GTA IV has a better story, GTA San Andreas has better activities and a world that feels bigger with three well done cities, GTA Vice City has a better protagonist, GTA III has better atmosphere, Red Dead Redemption has better landscapes and vistas, and Bully has better NPCs.
GTA IV might've had a better story, but it didn't save the games world from being the most boring enviroment of all GTA games. Once you'd completed the story, the city went back to being completely dead, and even during the story, there were too many things missing that USED to be there. What was the point of having online clothes shops when you cant buy anything? Where was the logic in completely removing car tuning? Why did they remove so many customisation features etc etc. The single player world felt unfinished. IMO the only thing that saved GTA4 from being a failure was the online play, which was more entertaining than any other PS3/360 game. Also had the best driving of all GTA, and all GTA clones. Yea I also think GTA3 & Vice City had the best atmosphere, and San Andreas is just the best GTA, end of story lol.
So many elements from previous GTA games are missing though. Like car tuning, flying planes and shit. GTA 4 just feels so empty after you finish the story like what the other dude said

GTA is probably one of the best games series of all time, but not the only one. Sleeping Dogs can be classified into the very top! In some detail, such as martial arts and fun with it, is perhaps better than GTA.

Because it' basically a GTA satire. It pretty much takes everything you know from GTA and changes its name or "fluffifies" it. Can't really say it does anything better if it just turns everything thats already part of the game into a joke-version of it.
But honestly, I don't get why people really argue about this. Videos like this are simple "click baits". The people that made the video didn't actually care to look for real reasons why any game would be better than GTA5 but their thought-process was mainly "aww hell, our video title is gonna draw in so many raging GTA5 fans and get us tons of clicks". So don't get too shocked if the videos content is just the bare minimum of what you'd expect.

Lego City Undercover is more lighthearted and exploring/puzzle based then GTA and yeah it sort of is a satire of GTA (kind of ironic that it's a satire of a satire). But I do think it does the exploring/puzzle part better then GTA largely because that isn't GTAs focus.
As for the latter things you said yeah I agree it's probably click bait but later in the video they basically sort of say that these are games you can play when you get tired of GTA. So it's mostly just a misleading title. And if they actually do say the game is better they only mean certain parts of it not the whole game.

I bought GTA V during midnight release.. I loved it, played it for days straight without touching any other games for weeks. Then it got boring for me as there was nothing else to do. Then Online came out, played it, enjoyed it then it got boring even with the custom race maps and missions that was released all the time. Then Heists came along and that was only fun for me as a 1 time thing.
I get that people love GTA but not everyone considers GTA to be the best open world game ever made and so many people should learn to respect what other people like or do not like. Bitching at eachother and saying "this game is shit compared to everything" is like saying "my dad can beat yours" in kinder garden.
I for one love Sleeping Dogs more, why? Because I loved the China setting and the melee combat system. I love Just Cause more because you can do crazy shit not even possible in GTA. Every open world game as a thing the other one does not and just one single part of a different game can make someone like that game more. It's deal with it or shut up, forcing one's opinion down someones throat never changes anything.

The developers decided to do this whole, silly "over the top" thing with it after the 2nd one, and I don't like it because I don't think that's what the originals were about.

I still enjoy Saints Row: The Third because the gang has grown so big and you can do so much stuff. The Saints Row 4 is a different type of game, more crazy. I enjoyed it but then it got way too crazy.. And you probably never played the 4th because it's not the same map. There are lots of locations in Saints Row 4 that doesn't exist in the 3rd. But it is almost the same, and if it weren't, the story wouldn't make sense at all. So it's not because they're lazy, it's because they want the story to make sense more.

honestly the GTA series has lost its appeal ever since San Andreas to me. Also one of the biggest reasons i played it was not because it was fun but mostly because it was the "cool" thing to play especially if you werent old enough to play it. I gave GTAV a try (im 23 now) but i just couldnt get into it its not nearly as fun as it was younger. I also feel like its become a victim of its own popularity sort of like COD. All in all i dont think i could go to any OWG that isnt Skyrim that game was incredible i am also looking froward to the Witcher 3 and TESO6

GTA V is the best
Open World Games are the best. Here are 3 reasons:
1: There is so much to explore, so many buildings to find, so many different roads to take and so many different things to do.
2: there are so many collectables hidden around the map for players to find (flying rats from GTA4, Tombs, Ancient parts, tapes and stunt ramps from Just Cause 3)
3: there are so many waster eggs to find, like in GTA 5 with all the graffiti like the "this is broken, can I return it?" By the highway and the Pie island on Just Cause 2
When did we start shoving arcade based games and comparing them with a more realistic based game. Sure yeah, GTA V isn't the most realistic, but by far, skyrim is more realistic than the games you compared. Why am I bringing this up? Which one do you think is going to be more fun, Arma 3 or Saint's Row 4? I'm guessing you're going with Saint's Row 4 because, guess what, it's arcade like.
