Man I swear this is hands down the best performance guide for this game so far.

this guy is much better than DF. DF usually uses top end hardware and assumes everyone else in the world does aswell. Benchmarking is much more reasonable.

@@shadowclaws45 no they don't at all lmfao. They test mid range hardware and do optimised settings for both high end and mid range... and most of the time the high end one works on mid/lower as they choose the best possible settings to FPS ratio. They do the same as this guy does, except this guy does it for a ton of games and DF don't. In fact the system they use to do settings for lower end is lower than this guys... They use a 2060 super and a ryzen 3600. This guys uses a 3060ti and a 5600x...
The day has finally come my friend, your video on the PC version of Dead Island 2 is better than Digital Foundry's. I really hope many people find this one because I was especially dissapointed with their video on the game but yours is just incredible! Happy to see you grow man!

This is the best optimization guide for this game. DF had some new guy do an optimization video that was pretty basic and unhelpful.

I was waiting for digital foundry' guide, but they didnt do well. Your guide is much better. The game is super optimized btw, after watching gameplays before releaase i thought its too much for my 6 years old gaming laptop, but i can play on high 1080, with decent frames.

FSR lowering fps when its on I think is actually because the game will not utilize the gpu as much hence the lower framerate, I've noticed the same thing in tiny tinas wonderlands

@@brzimtrco6142 It's a technical disaster even worse than The Last Of Us and by far the worst PC Port this year , the game is very CPU limited and as a result changing or tweaking settings doesn't affect the performance.
KEEP AWAY and DON'T BUY this game right now.

Yep I noticed that performance was worse when using fsr, never had that in a game before but that's what you get when it's amd sponsored and unreal engine 4.
Plus the low cpu usage and unstable gpu usage in certain areas makes it hard to have optimised settings as some areas are more unoptimised than others.
It's a shame because you can have a good cpu but unreal engine 4 seems struggle using more than 1 core and 2 threads

i'm locking my fps to 60 since my monitor has only 60Hz :), smooth like a baby's butt and power efficient too 🙂
Unless you're playing competitive shooters, 60 is more than enough. I don't even mind the 40hz mode in horizon forbidden west.
Try 50, almost no visual difference but even lower wattage. I've undervolted my card as well.
You only need to realistically lower shadows and effects to get the most frame rate cause those are the most frame rate hogging options just put both of these on medium and keep everything else ultra.

Yes
This game has a lot of micro stutters on my pc. Even though the avg framerate is quite high and 1 percent lows aren't bad either.
Same, the stuttering occurs every few seconds and it doesn't on FPS counter, but it does show on the frame time graph as little spikes. I very sensitive to stuttering and I tried several steps to eliminate the stuttering without success, so I refunded it in the end.

There is a DLSS "mod" on Nexus, just in case anyone happens to stumble upon my comment n wasn't aware!
Edit: well shit, apparently it also has the same "lower fps" issue, just used your settings with the FPS at ~60 in a more demanding area with it set to quality, then switched to other balanced n performance with no real change in visuals that I could notice, then turned it off and I'm at ~72. Strange. Maybe the game's been updated or something, so it's not working anymore, or maybe it just really has the exact same lower FPS issue that you mentioned with FidelityFX.

I haven't received any review code and I'll get the game at release (2 hours from now I think ) , from what I've seen the game is very very CPU limited ,If that turns out to be the case, I doubt that adjusting settings would make much of a difference, but I'll give it a try nonetheless 😉.
