This will probably be the closest we come to understanding what it was like to hear Blind Willie Johnson playing "Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground" on a street corner. Wow!
I wish he could have came to peace with his demons and not let them eat him alive much respect to this legend and his wife who is or had released some of the music he was working on
Can't say how many times I've listened to this one - "won't be by my hand, I want this world to have my blood on its hands..." I'd love to learn it. I don't have much of an ear though - can anyone piece together tuning or any of the chords? I'd really appreciate it
It is definitely in a drop d tuning, this definitely is from the heart and a tortured one at that. First time I ever heard this man.Did he die early? He seems young here. Where did he busk? It doesn't look like he is gathering much of an audience, though. People are afraid of the emotional sorrow that is involved here. Imo. I busked for 15 years in Burlington Vermont and I got to see many players like him. I quickly learned that in order to make money you have to turn the volume down on your voice. It is human nature to dislike being yelled at. I know that is not what he is doing. But the general public is pretty ignorant of what is really going on here. I'm a songwriter too and oftentimes when nothing would bring in a paycheck, I would reach into my songs and the twenty-dollar bills would flow like a flash flood.. I may be way off base but I can't imagine anybody setting them selves up in a busy area and not having a tip jar out. I'm going to try to find out more about this man😮
Is this Benjamin Todd's close friend? The one that has sadly passed? Sorry if I am mistaken? Have grown to love Ben's music and assume I would love his pals
Yeah some of Ben’s best songs were written by him. When I Went Down to Georgia and Wyoming. I think Ballad of a Broken Man and Paper and the Ink are about him too.
Ppl are shit, to not stop. Stop and notice that another human was displaying their soul. There are a lot of folks who are gone, who didn't have to be. Pay heed. Amazing.
@@jackisgallant I’ve grown more cynical as I’ve gotten older. I genuinely think the vast majority of people are selfish and thoughtless and busking is one case where that seems to be demonstrated. Especially when people won’t give anything that’s not in their immediate social and musical bubble a listening ear.
@@jackisgallant man if we’re speaking spiritually, I know it’s something I gotta work on. It’s something that can harden your heart, petrify it. Appreciate your comments
This guy was literally burning that place to the ground. Wish I could have seen him. RIP in Peace .

I’d love to learn it myself.
The camera angles make it a little tough, but I’ll get back to you if I ever manager to work it out.
Tuning is drop D. Tune your low E to D, chords are D,C,G.
