Hi Kristal.. Thanks a ton for this video. I want your suggestion. Which course have you done in place of 'Greek and roman civilization' and 'Ethics and social responsibility' as is mentioned in general education courses of UoPeople. Along with these courses I want to do 2 Humanities courses, but I think only Art history course is available in sophia.. Waiting to hear from you..
Hey I actually did Ethics and social responsibility with UoPeople 2 terms ago and unfortunately I don't see it on Sophia, also I have not done Greek and roman civilization yet, it is also not on Sophia so I will have to do it with UoPeople. However a friend of mine was telling me I could find the equivalent to Greek and roman civilization on Straighterline... On Sophia you will see the different categories when you go to "courses" and you can choose Humanities to see all humanities courses. Also please note you don't have to do the same courses that Uopeople offer, any course that you do ( as long as it has 3 credits) you will be credited for it under your electives. However for all your REQUIRED courses you have to do the same courses if you want it to be credited. But you can do any electives.
@@I_am_kris______ yes electives are fine. But for general courses, I wanted to do ‘Greek and roman’ not from UoPeople. Also, I have seen a humanities course titled as ‘ Ancient Greek philosophers’ in sophia but I’m confused if this is the required course.
Hi Sophia, congrats! I am UoPeople student as well, I wonder if you had all your credits fully transferred from Sophia to UoPeople and are any crouse transferrable, or the crouse has to be relevant to the degree program of UoPeople?
Hi how are doing? Thank you a lot for the video 🙏🙏. I wanted to ask you if Uo People tells you how many courses you have left after transferring the credits, or do you have to figure out yourself? Because the fact that some courses on sophia don't have the same name as the courses on Uo People .
When you run the degree audit it will tell you how much you have left. Watch this next video to see how to do that th-cam.com/video/fp4KbbRBEp0/w-d-xo.html

Hi Kristil! I’m trying to pick out my courses. Do the courses that require case studies take months to complete or can you complete them in under two weeks if you focus? Didn’t know if case studies were something that needed grading.
Hey Olivia! From my experience they took about a week on average to grade assignments.. However there are plenty of courses without assignment that i suggest you start with, see video for the ones i did th-cam.com/video/fp4KbbRBEp0/w-d-xo.html
Hi, I don't understand the credit system that well. thus you might find this question a bit obvious but how can i be sure that the credit score from a specific course will suit me for my bachelor's degree? I assume that each degree has its own specific credit scores that need to be met, i.e Introduction to Java course will provide 3 credit scores. however, it might not fit into liberal studies credits requirement. I hope that I articulated the question well enough.
If it doesn't fit into your major required courses and other electives, it can be used as a general elective. At UoPeople they require 12 general electives, any course can be used for this. Then they have major courses for the other required electives .
What was your mode of transferring the credits to UoPeople? Automatic notification, processing through parchment or ACE transcript? What were the charges from Sophia to UoPeople? I know UoPeople charges $17 but was there any other charge?
I used Credly (www.credly.com/) to get the free transcript, when you finish your first course on sophia you will see the option to sign up for free with credly and your transcript will go to them in PDF. You will also see an option to make all course you completed be add to credly. When you complete the courses you want then you download the transcript and add it you the transfer transcript portal in uopeople. so you only pay Uopeople, you don't pay anything to get your transcript. although sophia.org will try to sell transcript its not necessary. I will make a video about that soon.
On Sophia Learning it says "Take as many courses as you want for just a $79/month subscription fee, up to two courses at a time". Isn't it a contradiction itself? It's on Sophia's How it works page.
To add to that, I just checked Sophia's partner institutions where the credits are accepted. UoPeople is not on the list. Could you please tell how did you transfer them in that case?
You can only do 2 courses at a time, however I did 1 course at a time, once a course done it will be moved from active to complete and then you can start another. So if you wish to study 2 courses at a time you can do so, BUT you can only have 2 active courses at a time. However the time you take to complete the course is entirely up to you. So you can complete 1 course in 1 day then add another course and just keep doing that until you reach the desired courses or until the subscription ends. So for me, I took 1 week to complete Algebra, 1 week to do Statistics, then I used the remaining 2 weeks to do the other courses, so I would complete like 1 per day or 2 in a day depending on how easy the course is on if I have prior knowledge of the content.
I explained this in the video that Uopeople is not listed but they do accept them, I suggest you watch the video so you can get all the details, additionally, I have made a follow up video on how I transfer the credits, please see link to the video : th-cam.com/video/gQXgdKHBLV8/w-d-xo.html

Hi. Thanks for this video. I want to know if I can start using Sophia learning even just beginning my first year at Uopeople. Or do you need to already have done a certain number of courses before being able to transfer credits at Uopeople?
You can start sophia at any time.. you can't transfer credits though until you have completed the first 2 foundation courses ( so after the first term you can start transferring credits). but you can earn extra credits either before or after u start uopeople
Hi Kristal, Thank your for sharing these incredible information. I have a question. The credits of College Algebra that you took in Sophia learning were transferred as MATH1201 College Algebra (Proctored course) in UoPeople? I sent an email to my Advisor but haven't received answers.

Yes you have to pay for the first month, the free trial does not give u full access to the courses. So you have to pay to to be able to complete your courses.

I'm not sure I understand your question dear. what do you mean by credited with the same unit? They are 2 separate courses , each gives you 3 credits. all Sophia courses are ACE accredited. They replace statistics and algebra, so i dont have to do those courses with uopeople.
You will need to have your highschool diploma to apply and $60 registration fee. Once you register, they will reach out to you with the details. The next term starts November. So if you want to start then you can apply now
The courses i did are in the description. The courses with the same name on uopeople are replaced and the others are added as electives. Any course can be transferred as electives.
Unfortunately no, you only get access to 1 unit in the free trial. However you can try as many courses as you want in the free trial, you get access to the first challenge in the first unit only.
@@Iamvincentius try this course means that you are doing the free trial and you have not commited to do the course, perhaps you just want to see the content. Take this course means you are commiting to do the course in its entirety , so it will be added to your active course section( you can only add 2 at a time). If you already have the subscription you will see that even if you have 2 courses that you are taking you can try other courses.
Prior to Sophia, I have completed 3 terms with UoPeople( 6 courses). I do 2 courses per term, and I started in January. So thanks to Sophia I have now completed 16 courses in total now and I am currently studying 2 courses with UoPeople this term. So at the end of this semester, I will have completed 18 courses. I need to complete a total of 48 courses to finish my Bachelor degree. I have transferred the 10 courses from Sophia to UoPeople and they have accepted them since Sophia is ACE accredited and UoPeople accepts ACE credits.
Unfortunately,I don't think they don't offer any full scholarships at this moment. But I suggest you sign up for the free trial, that way you will get promotional emails and discounts. You can also contact them via live chat to see what options you have.
Wow, you've inspired me! My goal was to knock out 5 courses this month... since I'm taking a month off from work... but maybe I can do 10 too. I thought maybe it wasn't feasible to get so many courses completed in a short time period.
Glad to hear. It is definately feasible, just ensure you choose courses without assignments ( touchstones), they can take a week to mark them. So its best to avoid those courses so you can do more courses.

I did 4 courses that Sophia GE has and transferred my transcripts to Uopeople they accepted them. My question for you is, Did they accept Required Proctor courses such as College Algebra as a valid transcript? I was hesitant to do it at Sophia's because I thought Uopeople might want me to do it proctored with them. PS: By the way how did you get the discount? I could only do 4 courses in one month and a half because I'm majoring in two Colleges and I have very little time left in between plus this term I'm doing 4 courses at Uopeople and 2 courses at my other college (BYU.) Each course I took is 3 credits each( list in th description) I mostly did electives, I only did 1 major course on Sophia. I am studying Business Administration.
15 credits will give you 5 courses, If the courses you choose has no assignments(touchstones) you can finish them very quickly (For "me" if I had the entire day to do courses I could do 1-3 courses per day depending on how easy or hard the course is). They allow you to do 2 courses at a time, I suggest you do courses without assignments so that once you complete the course you can add 2 more courses and keep going until you reach your goal. Now if you choose courses with touchstone it will not let you move on until the instructors grade the assignment which can take some time.
Hey it was back in September, they had a back to school promotion for 50% off for that month only. They haven't had a sale since then. And now they are increasing the monthly fee by the end of this month.
Hey! I took 1 week to do algebra, 1 week to do statistics because those are hard for me, and then i took a few days for the others courses, so depending on how easy the course is I may complete 1 per day or 1 per couple days. The hack to finishing quicker is doing courses you already have knowlege in.

Glad it was helpful 🙂 stay tuned for more videos.
Great and interesting information! I just signed up for Sophia for Environmental Science. I've emailed my advisor at UoPeople about this, but she will not tell me what classes are equivalent to classes at UoPeople. I am glad the ones you listed work for credits, but I'm curious if some of the classes Sophia offers with similar names are actually equivalent.
As long as you choose courses with "3 credits" they can be transferrred to UoPeople.

I am definitely going to do this .. I know it will not be easy but I will be going in for the challenge
Yes!!! All the best! You got this!
Thanks for this video. Please I want to know, will you pay when transfering those courses to Uopeople?
Yes you pay $17 per course
@@I_am_kris______ thanks. The money will be paid to the Uopeople right?
They're listed now.

@@I_am_kris______ aight cool. Great tip. Thanks. Will look into Credly as well. You are doing a good job on here.
Yes.... next video idea.
kristal do you know that WES (canada) does not recognizes uop???? and im still searching about it
I dont know
On Sophia Learning it says "Take as many courses as you want for just a $79/month subscription fee, up to two courses at a time".

I started with Straighterline. How would you compare the two? Do you have to pay per course as well on Sophia?
Sophia works on montly subscription, you can complete as much courses as you can in the month. So if you meet your goal in 1 month you can cancel the subscription. There is no per course fee.
Thank you for this information.
My pleasure!
Are you enrolled in an online program, which school ? I've done some Sophia courses as well
Yes, University of the People
I got 4.5 credits each course not 3. I got 45 credits in one month
Where did you do the courses?
What was your daily goal when doing Statistics? I'm starting that course next week.
It has 5 units , so I did one unit per day and did the final exam on the 6th day.
Hello, how was your experience with Statistics? I am about to start it.
Are the exams on Sophia proctored?
No they are not.

Most of Sophia courses gives you 3 college credits per course. The ones i did are in the description.
Hey kristial
I have 12assignments due in a month
Exactly on February 28th, I have started it almost done with 1st one
is there any tips you could give?
Assignment on Sophia? Personally, i avoid courses on Sophia with assignments so i mostly do the ones without assignment and if i do any with assignment i look for ones that only have 1 assignmnet.
If you are talking about different assignment, if I had 12 assignment due in a month i would set a schedule and stick with it and work on the assignments one at a time. I like to start with hardest first and work my way to the easier ones.
Were you able yo apply any of those courses towards the 36 credit electives i saw in curriculum?
Yes i was able transfer courses as electives. 95% of my electives are transfer credits

Nice, they pay for sophia courses for you?
How many weeks/months do you think it would take me to get 15 credits? (I’ll be doing it all day everyday)
