Missed opportunity to dive into the entire character arc that is Netero himself. Even the King had unadulterated admiration for him not just for the resolve he displayed in battle but the blatant evidence of said resolve being employed to train to reach a level where he could even surpass Meruem’s combat speed with his prayer. As per the Ant King’s words: to a level of insanity. 10 years straight. Praying. Punch. Transcend. Netero’s entire flashback was a love letter to the very concept of diligence.
thank u so much for being a nen enjoyer. it's my favorite power system in shonen with how it perhaps ties in very closely with how "practice" works irl ALGORITHM, BOOST THIS S***TUFF
One of the best video essay's I watched in a long time. Made me think about my own life and all the times I quit on something due to me not wanting to put effort into it.
Maybe its the chils in me, but even as a man in his thirties watching Gon and the gang slowly progress gives me a lit of, idk, drive. Im on a fitness goal and seeing them get stronger makes me want to get stronger. Like you said, maybe its the power syste of Nen feeling almost obtainable. My drive, will, and motivation make me stronger. All of which Nen is derived from.
I had the exact same experience after watching Hunter x Hunter for the first time a few months ago. I was so inspired by Gon’s determination I set off on my own journey with a goal & through that I learned about my strengths and weaknesses and genuinely struggled but then began enjoying the feeling of challenging myself like a Hunter 💫 Amazing video!
I came for an hour long hxh video to put on as background music, instead I got an amazing breakdown of what I really needed right now. As im getting into drawing (and also wrestling lol) and this really opened my eyes on how I should be viewing practice. This is a really really cool video, the editing is literally oozing with effort and patience and it's really amazing that it's only your second.
@@starfishdrawz4307it was great! You touched exactly on why I love Greed Island - even though I've seen the sentiment by some fans that it drags on, is disappointing, or whatever, I was always fascinated by how it's the quintessential training arc, and how seemlessly done it is! Hell, I originally watched the 1999 anime and all the OVAs before jumping onto 2011 for the Chimera Ant arc, and those spend even more time on the actual training. I loved every second of it! But anyway, I'm rambling in a comment section again hsjshsj it certainly did not disappoint! If you ever write any other stuff in here I'll make sure to check it out!
@@quimator No dude i like completely agree tho, like a lot of shonen dive into 'training and practice' but it falls so flat that the stories don't feel like they're practicing what they're preaching. but hxh was different dude! It motivated me to just start writing essays because i had no other way to meaningfully express why this is so good and why people should care.
subscriber 196 here. loved your video and i promise you here and now i needed it. hxh is probably my favourite series oat (if not top 3) but i will come back and continue typing in the moring/another time bc i'm tired and i might not be back in the morning bc i hopefully will be putting this video into practice instead of coming back here but just know this video is very well done and gave me another outlook on peak x peak ❤
This is the best & most useful Hunter x Hunter analysis video i've seen, very helpful practical application of the concept of practise shown in HxH. I learned so much and it was very enjoyable, thank you!
Wow, this video is so great ! Thanks for you thoughtful analysis. It is beneficial for our own lives. This leads me to marvel even more at Togashi's huge talent. How he puts so many details and so many deep lessons in his stories is just a masterpiece. More video pleeeease ! God bless you and guide you in your journey Starfishddawz.
you have done a beautiful job on this. & netero + the kids taught me that i need to practice meditation, & that saved my life. one last thing - i hope welfin joins up on gon & killua's side when the time comes for gyro to meet gon
WOW! I read hunter x hunter and had similar realizations, I actually plan on doing a video on HxH someday. Keep pushing! This video is amazing, im glad you made it. the '99 anime changed my life. i love greed island so much in the manga, and chimera ant convinced me that, yeah, i am a furry after one piece showed me that they can indeed be cool, & is my favorite arc. togashi is very likely my favorite artist

@@starfishdrawz4307 really love the section on the basics and how most learning focuses on fundamentals, I haven't really seen many video essays mention the theme of all the great teachers in hunter x hunter repsecting the fundamentals, usually just focusing on nature vs nurture. While I'm wafling, Hisoka vs Castro also has a great parallel to Hisoka vs Gon, Hisoka seems to hate castro wasting his time working on some flashy ability and not becoming truly stronger, but is so excited that gon has improved so much and at this point he has no hatsu or anything special he just uses some zetsu and a good strategy. great writing(you not hxh, though that's good writing too haha).
i should make a video on the animation of the 2011 anime. i spent so much of my waking hours when it was airing studying every single episode in lieu of that, so...yeah. i don't want to come off like i detest it when it being around at the time is what partially got me to dive into the series 12 years ago
