- Keir Starmer said last night that there would be no tax surprises in Labour's manifesto, which is being unveiled later today, and pledged not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT.
However, he refused to rule out other forms of tax rises when pressed by Beth Rigby.
So, he remained tight-lipped on things like capital gains tax and fuel duty, and here's what he had to say about council tax.
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak also pledged to keep cutting taxes for workers, saying that the burden was too high, but would come down by the end of the decade.

Council tax is your biggest bill already after you rent/ mortgage and raising it affects the poor as well as the rich. Labour are a nightmare, trouble is when you wake up they’re still there.
Convenient that you skipped over rent/mortgage seeing as the Tories are the ones which screwed our mortgage rates and gave landlords the ground we walk upon.
Tax cuts = cut public services. Rich people can definitely afford to be taxed more! VAT should be reduced to encourage the public to spend.
Marginal tax rate is 62%. Every £1 earned in employment at marginal rate, you make 38pence and government takes 62pence. Rediculous.

There not needed we're paying the Bank of England interest on all the funny money they have printed since 2008. I know it's a reform policy but please go and re search it.

Give doctors more and then others want it too. This happens every time Labour is in power and we can’t afford it. This country has huge debts already. Money is easy to spend, but you have to pay it back. The children of today will suffer tomorrow.
