- Julia Hartley-Brewer clashes with former Labour minister Bill Rammell over Net Zero targets.
Labour has confirmed it will not issue new oil and gas licences for the North Sea as it sets out its plans to make the UK a “clean energy superpower”.
The party has put clean energy as one of its central missions for government as it seeks to draw dividing lines with the Tories on the climate and nature crisis, which it describes as the “greatest long-term challenge we face”.
Bill: “Energy prices wouldn’t have gone up if you’d had nuclear power and onshore wind.”
Julia: “Onshore wind won’t cover oil and gas needs. You’re either lying or stupid!”

What reformuk have suggested is a 20% tax relief for people who can afford to pay privately, to free up spaces. Don't forget Wes Streeting wants the private sector in the NHS. A couple of points, while these start the process of either taking the planet into or out of a full glaciation, it's the resulting changes in greenhouse gas concentrations that make the effect global. Increase in solar irradiance, more heat, GHGs released from melting permafrost and oceans, more warming, more GHGs and so on.
The planet is currently warming at a rate of 30x what is would when naturally coming out of a full glaciation. Take a look at the vostok ice core data and see how long it took the planet to warm by one degree.
According to NASA, according to Milankovitch theory, the planet should be cooling very slowly towards the next full glaciation, not rapidly warming.

It takes 6 to 8 years to build and get a Nuclear Power station up and running plus £33 billion per plant, one plant generates enough power for 6 million homes, there are 67 million people in the UK, i will let you do the maths and then conclude if Labour are telling the truth about costings and tax in their manifesto.

Julia I’m glad to hear you say about net zero is rubbish, I just listened to a scientist who has worked for donkeys years on the Great Barrier Reef and explains very well how reefs work and that it’s in a really good state there is more of it now than 30 years ago, apparently bleaching doesn’t usually kill it because it regenerates itself in 5 to 10 years and the warmer water is making it grow faster 🤷♀️
