I actually don't want a leather wrap steering wheel because for my job I have to keep driving to a bunch of different buildings and I end up holding the keys in my hand and I'll scratch the leather as they did in several cars I found
I don't think the car is slow I just think everything else is so fast nowadays because I used to have a camera that had 130 horsepower and it was definitely not slow
CVT may actually be really useful in offroad driving. I believe demands for another type of transmission could be meaningful if this was a city car. But it is not! I can drive my 2018 Forester 2.0L (CVT) in various terrains very smoothly most probably thanks to the CVT which provides linear and predictable power for long and steep climbs, deep snow or mud, or even in shallow water crossings. We also tow a caravan with not much difficulty. Sure it’s not sporty but I am not sure another type of transmission could be this easy and offroad capable as well as being reliable.
I love my 24 crosstrek sport. It’s the perfect daily driver for me. Smooth and quiet ride. Reliable and safe as well as capable. It’s my first Subaru. I have zero complaints.
I wanted a Crosstrek pretty badly. When it came time to replace my previous car, the Crosstrek just felt too small for me at 6'2", 260lbs. Ended up in an Outback. I've had the Outback for almost a year and 19k miles. It's in the shop having a sunroof rattle repaired. I asked for a Crosstrek for the loaner to see what I'm missing... it's more agile and feels quicker, but it's a little louder, doesn't ride as smoothly as the Outback, and the interior does feel nicer in the Outback. Ultimately, i like the look of the Crosstrek better, but i like the overall experience in the Outback better. But it is more expensive... so you get what you pay for. Both great options.
I feel like the Outback Premium is the sweet spot. I wanted the rear backup alert for my kid drivers, which was only available with the moonroof... but if you don't get the Sunroof, I think the MSRP is $31k for the Premium without any options. Also 17" wheels give you a little more tire sidewall which make the ride a little cushier on rough roads.
I noticed you had enough negativity about the Crosstrek that it bought out all the Subie haters. Well done. ! I am in the first year of owning a CT Outdoor (Canadian) 2.5 engine.. my experience in the time I have owned it is it is an amazing car in bad weather (snow and ice) it’s performance in all conditions is great. Your decibel readings were hair splitting . These can change with so many factors. Road surface, weather conditions, and tires. I give my Subaru a thumbs up. For the price I paid for the options I wanted AND a full time all wheel drive, there was nothing better in that price range.
The largest model is the Outback. It’s about 9” longer than the Forester with many more features, accessories, comfort, and very quiet in comparison to Forester and certainly the Crosstrek.
Love my 22 Sport, did great last year in the near record snows in the Sierra Mountains, never got stuck thanks to the clearance, and snow tires. Subaru makes an awd system that can be trusted in the toughest conditions, hence why we see so many of them up here in snow country. Have to say I have no issue with the 2.5L power, nor the CVT. I have driven manuals all my life, and the CVT works well enough, I've had no issues except for the droning when punching it uphill at 6500'.
Excellent review. I own an Outback but have always liked the CrossTrex. I have tried to convince my wife to get one. Maybe when her lease is up later this year
Wanted the sport model but could not wait that long due to total loss chevy camaro. Premium that the dealer had on order still took seven weeks for delivery and had no heated seats. I love the car, my wife who is the primary driver misses her camaro. The oem tires were very poor on the ice and snow, michelin cross climate 2’s are on it now..
The sunburst color changes hue from whether it’s sunny or overcast and someone in my family now hates the color she chose. I have a 2024 and also a 2024 OTBW. This Crosstrek has no problem quietly exceeding the speed limit at all times with a great balance of quiet and power. My OTBW does not have that ability and I have to concentrate more on the gas pedal to go faster.
As a former Skilled trades contractor who worked in various GM and ford plants, it will be an ice storm in HELL before my family drives ANY domestic built vehicle ! If it is not designed in Japan it will NOT sit in my driveway ! 🇯🇵👍 !
Can you guys do comparison? Like compare Crosstrek with Corolla Cross, CX30, Trailblazer and HRV? Basically the entire competition.. cos there's hyundai, buick, kia, nissan...
Lol, who slams the peddle to the metal like that in daily driving, certainly not the drivers that buy crosstreks. If you drive the 2.5 liter like a normal car it runs quiet, plenty of pep for driving in any situation. Good gas mileage, and over 16 gallons you can drive over 500 miles without having to stop for gas. Resale value in them is fantastic and a true all wheel drive system. I will take a subaru crosstrek anyday
@CarConfections Looking forward to when you review a Sport or Limited version of this car given the engine is quite different from the Base or Premium trims. Any plans for a review of a Crosstrek (with a 2.5L engine, not Wilderness)? Any news about when the 2025 model will be coming out this year?
I personally like this new crosstrek. The style is nice and familiar, but looks fairly different from other Subaru models (exterior wise) HOWEVER, I do feel like Subaru needs to change up the interior. Its about time for a makeover on all models, because ever since the current outback came out, they just copied and pasted the whole interior from that point on model to model and imo it doesnt feel special and it gets boring overtime. Its basically a hand me down. The only “unique” Subaru is the Solterra and thats just a copy n paste version of the bz4x with minor tweaks. If anything needed to be changed, it would be the gauge cluster. It’s quite outdated considering the year we’re in. But despite its cosmetic features, its a well balanced vehicle.
Oh, the Subaru Crosstrek! That's a fantastic choice, my friend! 🚗👍 The Subaru Crosstrek is a versatile and reliable crossover that's perfect for all kinds of adventures. Whether you're exploring the city streets or heading off the beaten path, the Crosstrek has got you covered. It's known for its great handling, spacious interior, and impressive fuel efficiency. Plus, Subaru is known for its commitment to safety, so you can feel confident on the road. Have you had a chance to test drive one yet? Let me know if you have any questions about the Crosstrek or if there's anything else I can help you with! 😊
If it were TURBO-- maybe... just maybe... otherwise- NO THANKS. It IS the SAFEST by gov.t crash tests- and has the best awd system-- but that's about it.

If you have to pay for a tcv failure on a 2.5 which I hope you don't have to but it's a very high failure rate and it will cost over $1,000 to fix
For $3,000 I think I can wait 2 seconds to get to 60 mph

I think you forgot about the Forester which is the next model up from Crosstrek. Or maybe you skipped it on purpose.

Outback better choice. Safer to drive and it's overall better choice.

I have not seen a Canadian model called ‘outdoor’ in the 2024.
@@brucekatkin5310
That’s became the model is called “OUTBACK
That’s because the model is called “OUTBACK”
The largest model is the Outback. It’s about 9” longer than the Forester with many more features, accessories, comfort, and very quiet in comparison to Forester and certainly the Crosstrek.
That was a sarcastic reply to someone who called it an 'outdoor'
Just finished a 3600 km trip in my 2024 Crosstrek through VA, WV, NC, NJ & NY. Smooth ride, comfortable seats.
That is the ONE point I DO love-- that SAPHIRE BLUE...

A great daily driver.
I'm sticking with my 1977 Ford Pinto. It still turns heads and stomachs.
Excellent review. I own an Outback but have always liked the CrossTrex. I have tried to convince my wife to get one. Maybe when her lease is up later this year
Thank you!
Excellent video and review, hope you all are having a good weekend!

You aren't supposed to gun a CVT like that. That sounds horrible and is not good for the transmission. (I don't own a Subaru, but I do own a CVT.)
Honda civic ex and above 😂😂😂😂
If you can’t drive it then wtf are they using cvt trans oh wait they don’t want things to last that’s why
@@Floreypotteryeasy female drivers also.
Trying to imagine gunning it to get on the highway when people are doing 80 in a 60.
The new CVT world doesn’t look promising. I’ll keep my everlasting manual transmission as long as I can.

Thank you guys for an amazing review!
Thanks for watching!
I like it this model looks a little bit better
You didn’t mention that Xmode is available in reverse which is was not previously. Having Xmode for reverse in the snow is really great.
Beautiful. I'm torn in between this and the Corolla Cross.
Have you put anyone adult size in the back seat of the Corolla Cross? It's abysmal and cramped
Subaru safety.
2.0 Premium is made in Japan vs 2.5 which is made in Indiana. Do you feel that affects the reliability?
The Canadian market gets their Crosstreks from Japan.

Is the Subaru Awd on Demand or full time?? Excellent review as usual.
Full time AWD

What about the Hyundai Kona is it bigger than the Hyundai Kona
The Hyundai Kona is exactly the same size as the Hyundai Kona
I agree with you guys. I would love to see a Hyundai Kona in Subaru crosstrek comparison
@@DaveDDD lol
They are very similar in size
Chevy Trax is going to give Subaru some competition 😮😮 Only the Trax is only FWD
Yes, and wait till that chevy is 5 years old. It will be worth half the money of the crosstrek
Interesting your statement about not all the lights are LED. The Canadian vehicles have rear LED combination along with headlight ans fog light.
Canada always gets better features for less money from all manufacturers.
It's a nice car, but the dash board has too many weird angles going on there.

A.I. crap
Can you persuade Japan to give the U.K. customers a 2.5L version with the Sport or wilderness specs. We have very poor versions.
Deal breaker for me was no 12v in the cargo area
Need to do better with leather wrapped steering wheel and better shifter.

HR-V seats are pretty hard -- test it out.
22 MPG?!?!?
Love the Hardestys.
Agreed 😅
Well i was conned into paying 46000 cdn
Seems underpowered
Japanese cares are the same
It has a CVT and AWD, both of which are going to cause maintenance hassles. Plus since it's a Subaru it will probably need head gaskets periodically.
Frankly, this car looks and sounds like a penalty box. I know it's fairly inexpensive, but still...
Look at that cheapo interior...
Subaru knows how to make bland, ugly, simple vehicles for dogs and outdoors loving people. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is why you love your Mitsubishi Mirage so much. A studs whip.

what a crap car!
This vehicle looks like a 2012 model year vehicle, looks dated to me and the styling is horrible and cheap looking.

Here's your problem, you can't afford either.
The Subaru looks good especially for the price
