I think this Psalm also reminds us that being in a dark place is normal and human. Society wants to stigmatize depression when it’s really part of being human. I’m glad the Bible shows this in many ways. That should make us feel better knowing that there is nothing wrong with us when we are in dark place. As a resiliency instructor I tell this to people many times but I always end it with “don’t stay there.” The Bible shows this as well, that there is a way out. Amen for that. Thank you Jesus!

Plus the Truth is He IS with you, He IS for you and the misery you're going through is only temporary and will pass, while your relationship with Jesus is Eternal.
Im in a dark place tonight and God told me to open the Bible which i so reluctantly asked him why what’s the point. So childish of me to say i know. He told me to just do it so of course i did. I just so happened to flip to psalm 88. I’ve never read something so spot on as to how I’m feeling. Reading up on it more led me to this video which I’m so thankful for. Im reminded of Gods promises and that’s where my focus will be. He continuously makes sure I know he is with me, hears me, loves me. I hope this season of despair will soon be over but until then, I’ll continue to focus on his promises.
I've lived Through/survived this Psalm for 8 years by the Grace of God 😢🙏 I learned through this horrid part of my life that God was there for me oh, that I can trust God with everything that I've got, and then He was with me through the entire process and He was there with me when I come out of it. It felt like I was scraping the bottom of my soul and I'm grateful to be alive today
This Psalm is the Lords psalm, this describes the darkness and wrath that Jesus went through in our stead. We MUST turn away from the sin that tempts us because He suffered the consequence of our sins.
If not for you pastor Paul, I wouldn’t get as much out of the Psalms as I think I would have. I really see how special Psalm is, and I’m so thankful that you have made this for the rest of the world (including me) to watch ❤️.
Isn't it fascinating that Psalm 88 is in the middle of the entire Book of Psalms? The journey through sorrow, self-pity, depression, or disenchantment with oneself, the world or God - in that state there is no hope to be found, just like Psalm 88 depicts.
In my darkest time as I surrender all to God in prayer and then ask him to give me a scripture to meditate, this is the Psalms I opened the Bible too. Psalms 88 it never fails. Oh boy do I feel every word, every pain. I feel abandoned. I know that God will never leave nor forsake me he’s proven his love for me over and over.. but why remove my family, I adore them I’ve been a good mother. I’ve served God for yrs and now they reject me . I don’t understand . My heart is crushed. I feel like im I. The pit of darkness. I pray I trust I believe, but when will it change, im dying slowly H
No suffering in the Lord is just for nothing. It is partaking in the suffering of our dear Lord Jesus. He suffered for us. He knew no sin and in Him there was no sin yet He suffered. The Lord is very near to you as you go through all these. He wants to comfort you and transform you into His likeness in this time of pain.

When I graduated from college, the missionary who led out campus fellowship gave all the graduates in our fellowship a copy of the cost of discipleship.
Thank you pastor for your deep explanation on psalm 88 . It is a psalm of hope and we should have faith in the Lord.no matter what the good Lord is there to help us

Mark 9:23-24 states Jesus said to him, “If[a] you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” I’ve been there. We all have in some sort of way. But instead of focusing on the issues, focus your eyes on Jesus. Your circumstances now does not determine your future. The Bible says all you have to do is have the faith of a mustard seed, which is extremely small. God understands where you’re at, and He is meeting you there. All that matters is your willingness to give it to God. Just be willing.
