You guys should really try something before rendering an opinion. I was able to accumulate two weeks of water in my first 40 min of gameplay. For someone not able to extract and get water it doesn’t matter because they will not have had any loot to lose. You have to have successful extractions with water to accumulate anything to lose such as vendors and such. You can have a 2 month surplus of water within a few hours. I don’t think mechanics need to be designed for people who only play a few hours every couple months and if that’s what you are playing you most likely don’t have much to risk losing. The game does a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and the water mechanic adds to that when you’re not playing.

Thanks for the update and critique! We practice research before buying, and we are regularly vocal about it. Sometimes we jump right into a game without much research before buying, but it's relatively rare. The water complaint was by far and large the most often-complained element of the game, leading to mixed reviews on Steam. We certainly try our best to be transparent about our opinions and what leads to our own biases, and we definitely tried to make it clear we had not personally tried the game, because as excited as we are about the message surrounding Fun Dog and the game, we feel it is a responsible thing to read reviews before making what amounts to a large purchase for a lot of people!
Keep in mind, we never review games we haven't played (we hardly review games at all) and we are not a review channel. We report on game and industry news for the most part, and give peaks at games we are excited about, or have recently played.
I'm happy to hear your opinion on the game, and the Steam reviews have changed to be more in line with yours as of a couple days ago! We will be following up with The Forever Winter as the game progresses, as we really are excited by prospects of this game! Thanks!
