  • For this project, I show the wiring up of these modern Otis buttons you'd find on new installs. With 24v, these are really easy to make to light up and be a nice display piece.

    Thanks, extremely useful.
    edit: people are asking here, in March 2024 i got them from china, aliexpress 2 or 3 euros, all metal, beautiful pc board, very good switch, just amazing( or i've just been lucky), but the pinout in NOT the same as here,the switch is by pins 1 and 4, that can be adapted with wires;for non-critical aplications only... 1 and 2 come soldered together; they sell other models too.

    I have NEVER seen an Otis button panel uninstalled! I've seen them installed before though.

    I was kinda wondering when you’d do a modern Otis button. Seems like these are quite simple to wire especially if you have the proper tools. Nice video! I’m hoping to someday get some buttons of my own to wire. However, as I’m not entirely inclined to browse on EBay for buttons and none of my local elevators are getting modded, I do not believe I’ll be getting any fixtures for a while.

    Awesome video! I like the 3D-printed box. Have you ever tried using Wago 221 connectors? I've found they are far superior to wire nuts when dealing with stranded wire.

      Thanks! I haven't tried those connectors. I have so many wirenuts I've acquired over the years. I need to use them up haha.

    I actually been on an elevator with these call buttons.

    • @stlelevators
      @stlelevators  ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re the main buttons Otis uses now.

      I only been on one with these buttons. There’s not a lot of these buttons I found in my area. In your area, this might be the case, but in my area, this might not, but I’ll have to keep looking.

    What if I wanted to push the button and have it stay lit up after pressing?

    This is cool. How do these buttons get their names?

    • @stlelevators
      @stlelevators  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Otis document I have calls them micromotion

  • @SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty
    @SPS8elevatorsoflakecounty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The technical term for these buttons is "MicroMotion3", apparently

    • @baelevatorsmore728
      @baelevatorsmore728 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SPS8 elevatorsoflakecounty I suppose that makes sense for it being the 3-pin variation.

    • @stlelevators
      @stlelevators  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes sense. The document I have just says micromotion and lists the 3 and 4 pin connections.

    Do you have a link to the connectors you used on this project? I would like to wire an otis panel I recently got.

      @stlelevators  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t actually know the P/N for the connectors on these. I’ll have to see if I can dig it up.

    Hey, where do you get elevator buttons?

  • @Bombiedude.
    @Bombiedude. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its strange how on the back of otis buttons theres all that space used for the circuit board where it looks like that should be where the springs are to make the buttons actually press and not click

    • @stlelevators
      @stlelevators  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is just a small switch on the board for the actual contact.

      Most electrical suppliers will have them if not somewhere online

    • @stlelevators
      @stlelevators  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had them from another project I ripped them off from.
