Then again, there's no way on earth you'd be able to get it into your car, and vans are bloody expensive.

wendyannh I'm actually switching from a power chair to a custom rigid frame with smart drive almost entirely due to the fact that it's impossible to get my power wheelchair anywhere lol!

:/ know how you feel about the muscle thing. Physical therapy wears me out and the pain lasts for days afterwards. Recently went to the store which is a block away, decided I needed to buy few gallons of tea and milk. Bad idea. My arm and back has been messed up for a few weeks now just after carrying groceries. When I get hurt or exercise, even very little the pain lasts forever. I also am having pain in my shoulders and neck for awhile now. Gotta find another doctor to look into it.
I hope you can get some answers!
Alex drs don't seem to understand multiple issues. do lots of research. I had to tell my dr I thought I had eds. I don't think she believed me until the rheumatologist agreed. hang in there.
I would have to say that was quite a wheel chair victory for you. I know there are a few things you need to work out with your wheel chair guy, but I thought you did great! The more you use it the better you'll be at it. I've been in a wheel chair for over 5 years now. I just have a plain ol wheel chair with nothing power and my arms and shoulders still ache when I have to wheel myself around for any distance. I took the foot thingies off of mine and use one foot to help propel me and to help steer. My leg still poops out on me too. I don't know who came up with the power assist wheels idea, but that is awesome! I'm hoping to be able to get a power chair soon. It truly would change my life for the better. Thanks for taking me on your adventure. See you next time!

Jacquie, I recently went from a high sugar diet to a low sugar diet. Not low carb. and I now can go hours in between meals. and not feel hungry. I was constantly hungry before. when I heard you say you don't eat much it reminded me of how my new eating pattern changed the amount of food I was eating.The amount of food I eat now is so much less than what I was eating. The calorie count is lower too. Isn't it amazing what the right kind of nutrition can do for us? I am glad you found Kate farms. And the new wheelchair is so exciting. I gasped when you almost fell. keep up the good work!

Tip for the future! It helps sit to fold the back down and then put the chair in! Especially if you take the cushion off then put the back down!! Also, if you take the arm rests off it makes it a little lighter! I don’t use the arm rests anyway so I never use them lol

I have a "Keep Moving Forward" tattoo on my foot specifically because of that movie. It reminds me every day just to keep going no matter how bad of a day I'm having
I am also surprised you didn't get a SmartDrive power assist it is so much lighter. SmartDrive is also more water resistance

Hi, Jaquie! My Mom had a "scooter" which was very heavy, and it was not possible to lift the scooter into and out of the van my Dad had, which was a Chrysler mini van. My Dad cut to size two or three pieces of plywood, joined together with strong hinges... that when folded together, fit flat inside the back cargo area of his van (when not in use)...and it could be pulled out and used as a "ramp", so that he could push/drive the scooter..( with the assistance of the power drive component of the scooter) up the ramp and into the back of the van, which made it possible for him to load and unload the scooter into and out of the van without lifting it. Understanding, that the back cargo area of my Dad's van was larger than the cargo area of your car...therefore it might be a (shorter ramp) and a steeper incline for you than he had. But, I wonder, if such an arrangement would help you to load and unload your beautiful wheelchair... without having to remove the power assist wheels...into the back of your car...so that you don't have to change the wheels just for loading. I worry about you injuring your back, as you lift the wheelchair into and out of, the back of your car. I am trying to think of the easiest way for you to get your wheelchair into and out of the car without having to lift it, and without having to remove the heavier power assist wheels. Dad had to be very careful to drive the scooter very straight up the ramp so he didn't drive off the edge of the ramp, which would be a catastrophe. (I think he accidentally did that once). I am SO HAPPY for you!!!

So great that your wheelchair makes such a huge difference for you and will improve your quality of life! Weird the power assist wheels aren’t waterproof. That is a major design flaw not taking into account rainy weather. Hope you get that sorted out!
Glad the wheel chair works for you and I'm sure once the kinks are worked out it will be fantastic! I hope they have some wheel covers or something to keep your power assist wheels dry. Ive seen some people around town with wheel covers on their chairs but idk of they are waterproof or not. I'll live through you and janese to go to Disney world for me lol!

Hi Jacquie I was thinking there might be a apk file for your wheelchair app online if you search the name of the app on google and put apk on the end of it you might be able to download it third party and use that one till u can get the real one just advice I thought of

The Haunted Mansion is my favorite! I always feel bad because they have to stop the ride because I cannot walk on the moving floor to get into the Doom Buggy and that's a ride you HAVE to transfer for. I wish using my wheelchair was possible so they wouldn't have to do that whenever I get on.
Glade to see the wheelchair, looks cool. Some service dogs have helped pull wheelchairs in the passed, is it something Harlow could help with? never been to disney so love seeing some of the parks

I'm glad the chair's been helping you. It looks great! It'll be such a big help for you. I know mine is for me, even though I don't have power assist (yet) (My wheelchair arrived only about a week before yours and I'm going into rehabilitation again for my EDS so we just sorta figured we'd get the wheelchair and wait to see how my rehabilitation works out and what I'm able to do after that before we look into power assist). How do you guys manage to go to disney so often though? Tickets to get in cost a fortune! Do you have like a year pass or something? And don't those cost a fortune too? Is it common to go to disney often in Florida? I'd love to go to disney world someday. But getting to explore it a little bit through your vlogs is lots of fun too! Another disney question I have is: how do the magic bands work? And what are they? I looked it up and the disney website gave some sort of vague explanation that it stores digital tickets and money or something, but you both have lots of them. Does that mean that you have some sort of an account that you can link them to somehow? (sorry about all the questions, but I live half a world away in the Netherlands (which is smaller than the state of Florida itself) and I'm a bit puzzled by all of this.)

How do you manage going on rides with POTS? I get incredibly nauseous from all the movement and noise.
We every POTSie is different, so I may be able to manage but someone else may not (and vice versa, I know some POTSies who go on extreme roller coasters, lol that is not for me!). I wear headphones and the slow rides like Haunted Mansion do not bother me.

Did your ATP show you the max mobility smart drive at all? I live in Seattle where it rains all the time and it is completely waterproof and works great. I have EDS, POTS and gastroparesis as well. You should look up some videos of the smart drive, it's really cool. Oh also there are a bunch of good videos online about manual wheelchair skills especially about the most efficient push, it really helped me conserve a lot of energy and go farther per push
Maybe this helps: Try putting the brakes on before lifting the wheelchair. You then can lift it by the wheels. or ask your atp to show you how to properly lift it. so happy you have the comfort of this awesome wheelchair!!! :)

Went to Magic Kingdom a couple of years ago. Loved it but had a bad experience on Splash Mountain. My legs were really cramped in the ride and my legs were practically asleep by the end. I'm only 5'11 tall, so I am not sure if they shrunk those cars down at some point.
Agree with Jaquie though. The Haunted Mansion is definitely one of my favorite attractions there.
