This is a nice recording, both technically and artistically, thank you for posting. I have been familiar with this work all my life and always assumed that the most beautiful version was the arrangement for violin and piano. However, having just heard a recording by Segovia, my view of this has changed, in spite of being more a fan of the violin than the guitar. This is not meant to be critical of the performers, as I just listened to several other recordings, including Heifetz, Kreisler and Perlman, and had the same reaction to those recordings. I challenge anyone to listen to Segovia play this on the guitar and deny feeling a depth of emotion, sadness, longing, that is just not present in the others. Maybe due to some peculiarity of this work, there is something lost in splitting it between two instruments. Or maybe Segovia simply has a deeper understanding of this composition.
