    Two month project, including breaks, waiting for parts/3D printed parts, etc.
    I put two microwave oven transformers into an ammo can, but I wanted to make it last as long as possible. It is connected in series. 2.1kV per leg is probably not ideal nor safe, but I went with it anyway. General rule of thumb is to never touch anything live/high voltage during operation. Three more cans to go (6 more MOTs) and I will hook them all in series-parallel (4.2kV still, I don't want to risk going higher) and try to draw some MASSIVE arcs.

    Ballast it to 10A at 120V input and leave it for a few hours to see how hot it gets lol. I've always wanted to see a proper load test on an oil cooled MOT

    Nice 👍👍👍, maybe use brass bolts instead of steel bolts for the terminals.

    • @breezetixhv
      @breezetixhv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't brass break more easier? The terminals don't heat up a lot only like 40c max or something which is fine.

    • @Alexelectricalengineering
      @Alexelectricalengineering ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@breezetixhv I guess you are right brass is softer so it breaks easier, but I like to use it anyway on my transformer projects 😁. I was also see that manufacturers like to use it too, I think also because of it superior corrosion resistance (I have some old transformers and all the steel bolts are rusted but the brass ones look still pretty nice)

    • @Alexelectricalengineering
      @Alexelectricalengineering ปีที่แล้ว

      @@breezetixhv Exactly, my old transformers before I get them was store probably inadequate. Brass has a low resistance, but it's not that big of a difference. I think only stainless steel would not be a good choice because it has a high resistance.
