    The word you were looking for Liza is 'Curfew'. Curfew a rule that everyone must stay at home between particular times, usually at night, especially during a war or a period of political trouble: a midnight curfew.

    My favorite par of Kyiv is Podil and near St Andrews descent but the left sight with it's river views is so beautiful ,especially in Osokorki or Vyshenky around Zoloche.

    During the Cold War when I was stationed in Germany at 22 yrs old, I was engaged to be married to Olga a beautiful Ukrainian model in 1987. Because Ukraine was part of the USSR back then the US Army wouldn't let me marry her. Broke my heart. 37 years later I still miss her. Ukrainian women are the best in the world. They still care about traditional home values, morals unlike American women who ONLY care about money and will cheat on you, divorce you and take everything you worked hard for over the years. Carry on young lady. Praying y'all drive the orcs back to Mordor. 🇺🇦🇮🇪🇺🇸🙏✝️

    By U.S. standards, those prices for apartment rent and taxis before midnight are not expensive. I live 15 minute to the airport and yet Uber costs $50 on a normal day to get there. That looks like a fairly common grocery store in the U.S., also. It depends. Some are fancy and some older ones less so. I used to like to go to a grocery store named Lucky's where they had live music and sold beer... I think beer and live music numbed people to the prices! I love mixing canned fruit like peaches or pairs with cottage cheese, in a bowl. It's delicious. As for the economic pressure in Ukraine, I hope Ukrainians realize and appreciate the large amounts of money other countries provide to help sustain the Ukrainian economy during the war. The EU gives most, in that regard. Granted, we also great admire the courage of Ukrainians and respect the bravery and strength you have all shown. Thank you for another video. It is best, I think, to see a bit of the normal lives of Ukrainians because it gives me a feel for not only what life is like for you but for the character of the people in Ukraine. A dancer? I was wondering what you might do for a living. I would not have guessed that. It seems you do have a nice apartment with a great view so you must do ok. When the war is over and Russia is thrown out, there will be a lot of investment in Ukraine and the economy will begin a strong recovery. I am sure of that. Soldiers will become construction workers and in many other ways contribute to the new great effort of rebuilding and making better lives for the next generation.

      By U.S standard salary in Ukraine is very low, between 300-600 dollars, now try to figure out how can u rent an apartment for 700 usd when ur salary is 600 usd.

      @@danielm.5636 ok but then why are purchase prices starting at $130K for an apartment in Kyiv, when I look. Yeah, I bring in more then $6K per month... It might be nice to work remote and live in Kyiv except I need power and Internet to be reliable

    • @almightytwee1188
      @almightytwee1188 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you factor in the Ukrainian cost-of-living versus average salary, $700 is very expensive
      Most people only make half that amount per month on a single salary

    • @almightytwee1188
      @almightytwee1188 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@solifugus living an apartment is more desirable in almost all post countries
      So individual apartments are sold like townhouses
      It is also different when you factoring a mortgage in Ukraine you have to pay it off within seven years I believe so the interest rate is not high. That is why it seems so cheap in America. You would factor it as a 30 year mortgage, which is nothing.

    Some things are very cheap. For example I pay less than 200 dollars a month for heat, electricity, water, condo fees and taxes and terabit internet combined - I bought a condo that would cost half a million dollars in any major US city and paid $110,000 5 years ago. Diesel for my car is about the same as in the USA but gasoline is more. Locally grown food is cheap but anything imported ( good Italian pasta sauce, any salt water seafood. etc. ) is very expensive. To buy a new car is more expensive. Medical care is cheap and good. I had every tooth in my mouth repaired and crowned with the best South Korean porcelain crowns and it cost about 5000 dollars - in the USA that would have been over 50,000 dollars and the quality of the work was much better than I ever got in the USA. I have a perfect Siamese cat, she would have cost several hundred dollars if I had contracted to not breed her - I paid 35 dollars with no contract - but I had her spayed anyway. To build a new house in a good area is about 25% of what it would cost in an equivalent area in the USA, due to lower prices for land and much lower prices for better labor. But beware, it is easy to get cheated if you buy an unfinished apartment as there are no men to complete the construction and many large apartment building have sat in various stages of completion since the war started. People that invested in these unfinished apartments sit on a worthless contract as there are no utility hookups, no working elevators, and sometimes not even a roof over the top floors. So, it depends on your tastes and requirements. If you don't need lobster food is cheap. Housing is cheap but the view may not be very good. Of course if you want to live in a village you can buy a nice house for less than $50,000 that would cost 10 times as much anywhere in the USA and you can live comfortably on $1000 a month. In the villages you need to speak passible Russian or Ukrainian depending on the location of the village. East of the river it is mostly Russian, west is mostly Ukrainian. Odessa area is Russian. fyi, this is a very pretty girl by American standards and if you are a reasonably attractive (clean and not fat and you know what the inside of a fitness club looks like) American man under 60 years old and you are middle class by American standards and not a creep, such beautiful girls are going to be interested in you.

    Never had a look into Ukraine / Kyiv like this before. This city has such a modern and rich vibe, it could be a sunny city in the south of spain ( by cars on the street, the style of the people roaming ).
    It is obviously attractive to jealous criminal dictators.
    This is the first video by you i have seen. Hope you keep vlogging about daily casual life, or may start an IRL career on twitch - i d subscribe :) ?!

    Thank you for this great video Liza! It helps me to relate to the lifestyle of Ukraine better. The food market is much nicer than what is in USA in many respects. In USA, most food has chemicals and crap added for preservation. Organic is expensive and rare to find. Best practice is to grow your own food. The shopping mall is amazing! Shopping malls in USA have become obsolete because of Amazon, but there are still some thriving malls in expensive areas in different places. Just subbed and liked. Its a beautiful place!

    I live in central Kyiv and it is an amazing city. When did she make this nonsense, I drive back and forward over the Dineper all the time and use the metro. A lot of people have left the city and prices have fallen for rent etc. The people coming from the war cannot afford high rent so prices have fallen for rent. Left side is also cheaper and I don’t know what fantasy world she lives in 😂
    I have lived here nonstop through the war and yes air raid sirens most days and the shops and metro stopped but not so much now.
    Taxi across the city about $5 average wage about $1.50 an hour, pension about $70 a month
    Curfew 12 midnight to 5am because of war
