    I always enjoy all of your videos, hands down the best gardening videos on youtube.
    I really like all the information you share and the way you present it. How can it get better than from planting seeds, to growing, to harvest, to cooking, to eating, great stuff.
    Can't wait for some Fla. videos.

    My favorite hot pepper is the red scotch bonnet. They are very hot, but have a unique really sweet fruity taste too. A little goes a long way! We use half of one and mix it with cream cheese to make stuffed burgers with. We are growing 6 or 7 different hot pepper varieties now.
    Nice video! I like how you lay out the info, your potato guide was extremely helpful for me. I thought y’all moved to Florida lol

    I wish all gardening videos used your progression presentation. My first year growing the Reaper. I’ve given samples to six friends. Not one has asked for more. I’m going to see if you’ve done a video on the Reaper spray. I’ve made one with Reaper, onion, garlic, cayenne, chili &black pepper. The solution has kept the intruders away for a week now. After Ida I’ll need to reapply. Liked and subscribed.

    The Carolina in it's bright red stage is an excellent pepper raw, seeds removed as they're a little tough to chew. Oven roasted for about 5 minutes. The addition of some original Philadelphia Cream Cheese spread on the cavity of the pepper, can't beat them if you want a little something spicy. Great video.

I combine what I learn from you and what I learned from my grandfather who was Cherokee (he used the fish in the ground too) and I usually end up with a pretty good harvest! Not sure if you do this, but we always plant by the moon. On some things it can make a difference if you get a harvest or not!! Thanks again 🌺

    I am afraid that would be a little to hot. My husband enjoys heat when it has flavor but if the heat overwhelms then it isn't worth the time. Just starting seeds. Praying this year it works. This will be the fifth year I am trying. Bought grow lights this year to see if it is going to work. Thank you and Nancy for all you do. So grateful that God brought you both into my life.

    When you say hardening off do you mean letting the wind hit it to strengthen it? I'm starting up for first time in June and getting input wherever I can.

    • @thenorcalkid530
      @thenorcalkid530 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hardening means gradually introducing the plant to the outside. People will start by leaving the plants outside for an hour at a time. Bringing them back in, putting em out for 2 hours etc. When they are 6-8 inches and have been exposed long enough that's when you fully transplant them outside.

    I know this is several years old, but do you have any tips on watering / lighting them? I had 3 plants arrive from a grower last week and one is almost dead. It arrived with it's roots moist, but my boyfriend really is a "pepper head". There is another pepper hotter than the Carolina Reaper right now, but before anything can be recognized it has to be consistently grown at the same rate for 8 years and it isn't there yet. It's still too cold for us to put them outside, and they are not cheap plants so any advice is greatly appreciated.

      It could be due to the heat of where you're growing it, these aren't very hardy plants i planted about 8 seeds and 2 germinated

      You just have to introduce them to sunlight slowly and water them thoroughly, but let the soil dry up a bit afterwards. They can and will take sun all day every day once they get acclimated and get enough water to sustain themselves.

    Thanx for the nice video. I am retired and live in Panama. I am trying to grow super-hots for the first time this year. I have several strains of Ghost pepper and Carolina reaper and also Dragons breath. They are super slow growers. They are sensitive plants. They are not something I recommend for novice growers. I live in a warm climate and and they are still much harder to grow than more traditional chili peppers. Yes, they are hot. I blend them with milder chili peppers in the kitchen. It takes awhile to get used to eating them. Its an acquired taste. I still cannot eat super-hot chili's without diluting them to lower the heat level. They are definitely not for everyone.

    How do you make the pepper spray? Growing here in New Zealand after 3 years trying and finally made a little tunnel house and seem to be going great. Love your vids, very informative. Thank you

    Would love to know how you make pepper spray. Someone just gave me some of these seeds and I came to yoru page to learn how to grow. We love spicy food BUT I'm thinking maybe I will grow these to make a natural deterrent. Another question, is there any residue on the melons you spray to keep small animals away? Thank you! Love your videos!

    I'd try them in small batches. Like add a bit of one pepper to chili. Good luck!
