31 minutes that described benchmark ball strategy, symetrical vs asymetrical cores, coverstock variances and the legacy of the IQ Tour! Very informative and viewer friendly. Best half of an hour invested as it educated and demonstrated hours and hours of bowling tech in easy to watch and comprehend format. Keep it coming Ben and West Seattle Pro Shop!
Great video. Too many people go straight to urethane instead if trying short pin layouts. If you have slower ball speed or have a rev rate under 400 rpms short pin layouts are way more useful than urethane. Unless you love picking up 10 pins all day
@wsbproshop I've been using the short pin layout since 2019, Mo and I discussed this layout over the comments on my page, lil bro, I love your reviews, and I have completed my rehab from total hip replacement in 2021 and a partially torn bi-cep 2023, in the process of rehab, I transitioned from 15lbs to 14lbs, let me know if it's ok to comment with a link to my channel... most bowling channels treat my link like it's spam 😢😢😢 If you are interested in talking about my rehab process and the foundation principles I drafted (for me), let me know, I promise you, it's a totally different way of thinking 🙏🏿💪🏾🙏🏿👀 @HoustonHometownBowlers
Great question. I'd say the Xponent is almost a lateral move off the Ion. Meaning, it's about the same level of strength, but just a different shape. The Xponent gets into a roll a bit slower than the Ion, and is less responsive down lane... so they can weirdly play off each other nice as compliments.
For symmetrical balls like the IQ Tour, only pin to PAP and pin buffer are relevant, as PSA is always in the thumb. But yes, all are dual angle layouts. But I can start adding the "third" number, the drilling angle, to our vids for symmetrical balls, if that gets to be confusing for viewers
Good question. We're currently in talks to bring the Eliminator back. Definitely mention it to Jeff--the more people who ask for it, the more likely it will return!
How about both? Haha. Honestly, I use both--pin down for when I need to trap and control the pocket, and pinup when I need to move left and hook the lane
Definitely! I currently have both in my bag, and they work perfectly together. I've been starting league with the Ion, and as soon as the shot breaks now, I move to the IQ Tour. It's the best 1-2 punch I've ever seen
@@wsbproshop The benchmarks or short pins as your 1/2 punch? I also use IQ Tour as my benchmark and am looking at the Ion Pro and was planning to drill it short pin. Curious why you polish the short pins? Thanks for the perfect comparision I was looking for.
We measured it the other day... I think it was around 460-480 when I'm hitting on it? We'll be doing an official video of all of our stats soon, so I'll know then, haha. Stay tuned!
I mean, the numbers don't lie: millions have been sold, and continue to be sold, for over 12 years now. Most balls only last a year before they're gone. Maybe it just doesn't match up for your particular bowling style? Not all do. That's why there are choices. :)

thanks!
This is a such a good video! Really helps me decide how I want to drill my Ion when I get it next week. Awesome job
Awesome--glad I could help! Let us know how you like yours
Thanks for this great video. I know what layout I need for my Ion Pro now. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
No prob--thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful. Let me know what you think after you drill one!
Great video!
Thanks--much appreciated!

Thanks--much appreciated! And I totally agree--short pin layouts can be a nice secret weapon when all else isn't getting the job done

I'm currently using an original Xponent as my benchmark ball. How would the Ion Pro compare to that?
Great question. I'd say the Xponent is almost a lateral move off the Ion. Meaning, it's about the same level of strength, but just a different shape. The Xponent gets into a roll a bit slower than the Ion, and is less responsive down lane... so they can weirdly play off each other nice as compliments.
Don't you need 3 numbers for a layout? Is that dual angle? What's the other angle?

is WSB not going to do the eliminator tourny this year?
Good question. We're currently in talks to bring the Eliminator back. Definitely mention it to Jeff--the more people who ask for it, the more likely it will return!
IQ tour which is better pin up or down?
How about both? Haha. Honestly, I use both--pin down for when I need to trap and control the pocket, and pinup when I need to move left and hook the lane
Can i have both im my bag? I also have the 900 global xponent and original zen also the clone also a storm hyroad pearl

What is rough edge compound? Is that a storm product
Yep--Storm now has 2 new polishes/compounds: Rough Edge, and Smooth Edge. I prefer Rough Edge. Meant to give shine, but keep the grit at around 1000.
Terrific video! .. you deserve more subs!
Thanks! Much appreciated!
What’s you rev rate?

How is the iq tour a benchmark ball for anyone. It’s easily the worst ball storm has ever made.
