It's the worst 50 game stretch of his career. There is also the game-calling argument, Smith caught all but 2 of the Dodgers' playoff innings on the way to the title including the record shutout streak, while Contreras' pitchers gave up 15 runs in 3 games including a season-ending home run to Alonso. I would still put Contreras over Smith in next year's Foolish 50 but the gap isn't massive.

This is the idea that you can’t sustain a .360 BABIP, K/BB ratio above 5:1 and linearly declining power for more than three seasons before the bottom falls out of the tub. It was formerly known as Tim Anderson Theory, and before that the Law of Juan Samuel. Bichette has reached his allotment of three such seasons and will thus see a dramatic fall from grace in 2024. Betting on Judge to stay healthy is kinda wild and Acunas season is more repeatable additionally the on base value from Acuna makes up for any defensive slack.
Ozzie never gets any love man. Not only is he the most lovable dude In baseball (ok, maybe tied with Freddie the traitor), he also loves fish. Even discounting what he said in the video, Adolis is also surrounded by the absolute best lineup that he ever has and hes almost surely going to *need* to score to win with the “meh” pitching of the rangers. Hopefully he should benefit from the rangers lineup and the absolute hell that is seager-semien-langford-lowe-carter tearing it up, but who knows. Even as a ranger fan I might not be convinced that he puts up a WAR in the top 50 again, but hopefully the consistency and improvement in the rangers dugout push him even further.

as a biased yankees fan i dont think judge is better than acuna you are right that his defense is better but judge doesn’t seem to have a base stealing aspect to his game anymore while acuna stole 19 more bases than the next highest. I dont think the difference in defense can bridge that much of a gap in baserunning, but I hope you are right cause I love judge and want him to be the best player in baseball lol
