- BlackSeaRC presents the fifth video in a series looking at the brand new Cross-RC EMO AT4V 1:10 scale radio controlled off-road crawler kit with pick-up truck body. In this video, we perform the final set-up tasks to ensure everything is functioning correctly before taking the truck into the Caucasus mountains and conducting off-road performance testing.
The set-up section of the video demonstrates the correct configuration of the steering, throttle, gear-shifting, plus remote front and rear axle differential locking.
During the testing phase, the AT4V is subjected to some challenging off-road conditions.
Following the testing, some additional special upgrade parts are installed.
You can watch the previous videos in the AT4V series at the links below:

Part 1 - Unboxing and Upgrade Parts - • NEW Cross-RC EMO AT4V ...
Or alternatively, please check the "1:10 Scale" playlist:
• 1:10 Scale
In future videos, we shall conduct further testing in a variety of different conditions to examine this truck's performance capabilities and the effectiveness of the special upgrade parts.
Additionally, we shall be looking at some scale accessories to see if we can further improve the scale realism of this truck. I also want to try to install a scale interior with dashboard, steering wheel, seating and a special ultra-realistic driver figure.
About the AT4V:
The AT4V is a high performance radio-controlled all-terrain crawler. The assembly kit is based on the AT4 chassis and uses the pick-up truck body from the Cross-RC VR4 Demon. Other features of the AT4V include a 4x4 drive system, 2-speed gearbox with adjustable slipper clutch and remote transfer box, 540 size 35T high-torque brushed motor, metal ladder-frame chassis, portal axles with stainless steel multi-link rods and coil-over oil-filled shock absorbers, servo-operated front and rear axle differential locks, Black Rock R1.9" all-terrain tyres with beadlock wheels and scale realistic polycarbonate body plus inner fenders.

The way how this truck off roads is surprising, at least to me! The way how the axel tilts in response to overcome the obstacles, and the way how the truck manages to climb rocks is fantastic. I may sound a little bit too surprised, but for a truck mostly built by your hands and detailed is amazing. I have never been too excited to see a RC Truck off road.
When I was making this video I went to a steep bit of mountain track. It is almost too steep to even walk there but somehow in the video the truck makes it look all so easy over the rocks that it is hard to appreciate the conditions. Now I am going to have to find some even more severe conditions because this truck is very capable. The soft tyres grip extremely well and the suspension moves in a very controlled manner to keep the truck stable. I want even greater realism so I've already bought some additional parts and I also have a driver figure that I want to try to fit in the cab.
@@BlackSeaRC Great to know that! This machine is a beast. It's size is not congruent to its capabilities.
@@AbdullahBasit24 It is a beast for sure! The chassis was designed from the ground up to be a great crawler and then I added extra upgraded metal parts to make it even better!
CrossRC trucks have good details
The upgrade is great, too
I'm really liking this truck so far and it makes a nice alternative to the TRX-4. I am currently building another Cross-RC, this time it is the PG4A Adventurer. It is a really nice quality kit and has some great features.
Very very good detailed video, i enjoyed and learned the whole time, the thoughts you jad throught out kept me here. Great video again and glad to see you finally drive it!
Thank you, thank you! Sometimes on trucks like this you can have a lot of functions that don't particularly work well but everything was great once it was set up. The diff-lock control wires were a bit tricky but once done they seem to work well (although I didn't get the truck too wet, dusty or muddy yet so that may change!). I think I will get an additional set of brass counterweights for the rear axle and I already have some other bits and pieces that I'll show you next time. I can't wait to test it some more because in the end it was so capable that the video hardly did it justice.
This is what I'm taking about! Superb presentation.
Thanks for your kind feedback! The AT4V is one of the favourite RC vehicles in my collection. It has some great features and it was very nice to build, especially with all the metal upgrade parts. It is also very rarely seen as it is produced in relatively small numbers which makes it even more interesting, in my opinion. I have recently been adding a few extra customisations to further improve the scale realism and you will be able to see that in an upcoming video. I will also be making some new videos of this truck in action as it is such a nice performer. Best wishes from BlackSeaRC!
NIce build, the truck looks and drives nice! 👍
Thanks, it is a really nicely designed kit with a great specification. It drives very well and I can't wait to try it on a variety of different surfaces. When you compare this truck with something like the HG-P417, the performance difference is very noticeable!

wow.... So beautiful truck! 🚀💥😎 Amazing 😍
Thanks for leaving your comment! Yes, it is a good looking truck and I'm currently adding a few more customisations to make the details even better. Look out for the mods in an upcoming video.

So awesome , keep up
Nice to see you again as always! This has been one of my favourite RC trucks so far and there are lots more things I want to do with it. However, there are also some interesting smaller scale road cars coming soon as well. By the way, I just found some new RC cars from a manufacturer I haven't seen before in 1:24 scale. They make quite a few RC models of American cars which is quite unusual. Might have to look at them more closely.
Another great video! Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the compliments! I'm currently working on a few further modifications, mostly cosmetic to improve scale realism. I'm fitting a rear towing coupling, front shackles and attempting to fit a scale interior. That mod is not going so well at the moment though as the parts I got don't really fit this body properly. Watch this space!
I have been making some more videos in this AT4V series if you are interested. You can see all my Cross-RC videos on this dedicated playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLNbtVgLA4Mp7TCvFjkySdzRTr8n2NAcd3.html
Awesome vid bro...looking so real😍
Great driving and control
Keep it up champ 👑🏆
It is great to see you again at BlackSeaRC! This crawler is one of my favourite trucks so far in my RC collection. Of course it ought to be quite good as it was one of the most expensive but it just feels well designed. I shall be making some more videos featuring this truck in the future so you can see it in action in some more challenging conditions.
@@BlackSeaRC awesome
Nice I wish they made this one in RTR.
There is a RTR version of AT4V but it isn't quite the same spec as the kit version (it comes with straight axles rather than portals). Link here: greensmodels.co.uk/products/copy-of-cross-rc-at4v-emo-kit-version?_pos=1&_sid=0c490795b&_ss=r

Nice job cool video!
Great to see you at BlackSeaRC! I reckon the AT4V could compete very well with your new TRX-4 Bronco. I need to test this CROSS-RC truck on some more severe terrain so you can see how it performs. See you around my friend!
nice built... the gear mesh is a bit loud on emo at4 too... but was a full capable rc crawler .
It is a little noisy but not noticeably different from my other RC cars, except for the HG-P417 High Lift clone which is much noisier. I added extra grease to the entire driveline so I think it will get a bit quieter after several more drives. I suppose an upgraded motor and different ESC would reduce noise as well but I've no plans to change them at the moment. The performance has been very impressive so far though and I'll be finding some different types of terrain for further testing in future videos.
This is a really cool truck you built! It must go fast on a smooth surface.
The great thing about this truck is that it has a 2-speed gearbox. Therefore, as well as being able to crawl in low range it can achieve a reasonable speed in high range. I wouldn't say that it is especially quick even in high range because the motor and gearing are predominantly set up for good torque rather than high speed. However, it could certainly be modified to be much faster if that is what was desired.
@@BlackSeaRC A 2-speed gearbox is a great thing! I see you can have plenty of fun with it where you live. That's so cool that it can be modified to be much faster. This truck look like a must have!
@@creyetivemedia A 2-speed gearbox is a great advantage because a crawler really needs low gearing when the conditions are severe but then there are often conditions when you can use more speed. These trucks can be fully customised to suit exactly what you want.
@@BlackSeaRC I completely agree that a 2-speed gearbox is a great advantage. It's amazing you built such a model. I don't have the experience to build something like that. It looks very complicated. So it's amazing that you put the whole thing together. P.S. Happy New Year!
@@creyetivemedia Thanks again and Happy New Year! Building kits is actually a lot of fun. It certainly helps you to understand the model a lot better than if you buy something ready-to-run. This particular kit is quite advanced but if you start with a basic kit (something like a Tamiya buggy) then you will be okay even if you haven't built one before. The instructions are usually very detailed and have great 3D images of each build stage. You will need basic tools though. I suppose the most challenging part for someone who hasn't built one will be painting the body but you can also find kits with pre-painted bodies. Give it a try, it gives you a great sense of achievement to see it transform from a kit of parts into a running vehicle.
I used a hobby wing quick run 2 n 1 set up in mine….super smooth and now one of the best performing rigs I own!
Cool video ….these rigs are under rated in comparison to Axial and Traxxas crawlers.
Hello Mark and thanks for dropping by my channel! You really don't see or hear much about the AT4V but it is a very capable machine. In my latest customisation video I have added a few extra detail touches that you might find interesting. Was the 2 in 1 system quite a tight fit against the steering servo? When I got my AT4V there was very little information known about it so I just used some quite basic electronics as I wasn't really sure what would suit the chassis layout. I'm sure the performance of my truck could be further improved with a better motor, ESC and battery combo. By the way, I also have a PG4A Adventurer kit that I will be building soon. This is a kit from a while back but it looks a real beast!
@@BlackSeaRC I have the VR4C flagship model….my local hobby store was having a huge sale on a lot of their inventory to make room for new stuff.
Couldn’t pass it up at $350…
The steering servo is mounted to the front axle on my rig so there’s all kinds of room for the HW 2 n 1 set up…I used the 1800 kv option.
I totally love this rig (partially because I got such a good deal on it..lol) everything works great and haven’t had to upgrade much of anything to make it perform better other the motor combo!
Oh …BTW…I have about 12 different 1/10 crawler rigs in my fleet..wide variety of makes and models! Traxxas , axial , redcat and a number of custom built rigs! My Cross is in the top 3 of my favorite crawling rigs. Probably #1 as far as stock out of the box goes!
That was a great deal as the "C" version has all the nice metal parts. It would be interesting to see the VR4C and AT4V side-by-side as there are obviously some differences. I had hoped the AT4V would come with metal wheels but unfortunately they are just plastic. I had to compensate by adding the brass hub weights. By the way, I am trying to fit an interior on mine. Not sure if you saw the latest video I made showing some of my customisations for the AT4V? I started the process of trying to fit an interior but it wasn't entirely successful. If you've got any ideas I'd be grateful!
@@markcole6475 I have 17 different RC brands in my collection but I am typically more of a fan of the less common brands that you don't see so often. I also love to do a bit of customisation! I have had ideas for a while to build a fully custom machine but to make it reality I need to make a custom body and that is going to need some design work first. Hopefully I'll be able to make that happen when I get some funds available.
looks sick!
Yes, I'm really pleased with the way it turned out...plus, I have some additional accessories now that will make it look even better!

Thank you for your comments.
The AT4 series uses a front mounted motor that is located above the front axle so there is not space to mount the steering servo on the axle, even if you fabricated your own bracket.
The PG4A I have is the opposite and that uses an axle-mounted steering servo in association with 4 links at the front. The motor and gearbox are located further towards the rear.
Looks like a blast. I was looking into the sg-4 but hear nothing but bad about it's tranny. I might be switching kits :)... I looked the music selection getting around copywriting suxs.
Hello there and thanks for leaving your comments. I love my AT4V and shall be uploading a new video next week showing how I have further customised mine to improve the scale realism. I also considered the SG4 and SP4 trucks. I believe the newest versions of these Demon trucks are now being shipped with the upgraded V.2 transmissions. Alternatively, did you consider the new Cross-RC XT4? It looks like a nice crawler and has great scale realism. If you are a fan of hard bodies, then it might be more appealing than the lexan bodied AT4 series trucks.
As for the music on TH-cam's copyright free library...I think it is not easy to find something decent if you make videos regularly...

This is a great looking truck but why don't we see more of them around?
It is a fantastic looking truck and also it has a great specification for the chassis. For some reason this product has not been promoted much and not many people seem to know about it. I believe it is quite a limited production run product so perhaps Cross-RC just didn't have many available. I am currently working on a new video where I add some extra customisation accessories to this truck. Watch out for it soon at BlackSeaRC.

Can the diffs be setup to been locked all the time and not using the cable system??
Hello Oscar, the diffs are locked by a spring and unlocked by the servo pulling on the cable. Therefore, if the cable is disconnected, the diffs will remain locked all the time. Some people disconnect the cable to the rear diff so it is always locked and then the servo can be used to just lock/unlock the front steering axle as required. I have independent servos for the front and rear axle locking but in reality, I usually run with either both unlocked or both locked. If you check out my "Cross-RC" playlist, you will be able to see more videos of this crawler in action. Link here for your convenience: th-cam.com/play/PLNbtVgLA4Mp7TCvFjkySdzRTr8n2NAcd3.html
Awesome rig bro! Is it worth to buy this model?
Thanks my friend! Well, I like it very much and would recommend it but seemingly this model is limited production and not so easy to get hold of. If you can find it in Singapore, this truck is a great alternative to the more common Traxxas and Axial crawlers. Cross-RC has also very recently launched another new model called the EMO XT4 (it was released in China last month so you may have already seen it?). It has a similar chassis but uses straight axles rather than portal axles and also uses a hard body. I am very tempted by this truck as well as I like the fact that it has interior detailing and also engine bay details. There is also a new AT6 truck released this week which has an extended version of the AT4V pick-up body. As for me, I want to get a Gmade GOM buggy next. You have a great collection of RC vehicles by the way!

I have the AT4 and love it! But I'm looking for the pickup body instead of Blazer like body. Any clue where to get it?
Hello Steve! When I bought the AT4V kit last year there were lots of sources for Cross-RC parts and I thought your question would be easy to answer. However, upon searching just now, I couldn't find any of the original sources I remember seeing before. I heard from Cross-RC USA that the AT4V was a limited edition kit so maybe everything has been sold already. Certainly, availability of the kit itself was very limited. There were actually 2 spares items available previously. The AT4V/VR4 clear polycarbonate shell on its own and as a kit of parts. If you have a standard AT4, the AT4V shell on its own will not be much good. You would need the full body kit version that includes the chrome parts (bumpers, front grille, light housings, etc.), body accessories (wipers, mirrors), different body mounts, decals and body masking, side under-protection mod kit, even specific LED lighting parts were included I think. I saw these items mostly on AliExpress (reliable and recommended) and Taobao (this is Chinese language so very hard to use). I see the shell on its own on AliExpress but not the full kit. This is a link to the kit: item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c-s.w4002-16627779951.15.6db03af7RuyJ3v&id=652955263455
Hi, may I ask, how is the durability of this rig? Is it on the same level of traxxas trx4 sport?
Hello there, I don't own a Traxxas TRX-4 Sport truck myself but I can confirm that the EMO AT4 series trucks are considered to be one of the best for durability. The chassis are strong and they can be further improved by adding some of the metal upgrade parts like I have done. The main weaknesses I would say are probably the diff-lock and gear-shift servos. They are an unusual mini size and can be awkward to set-up. I have heard of a few failures of these (mainly due to incorrect set-up I suspect), but Cross-RC introduced a servo protector upgrade that has helped in this respect. The diff-lock cables can also bind sometimes on the protective sheathing but other than that it is a great truck for the price!
@@BlackSeaRC thank you for your kind reply, really appreciate it. I'm thinking to get one but RTR version.
@@arkipas Okay, but please check the specifications first as I believe the RTR version of the AT4V is not exactly the same as the kit. For example, I think the RTR has straight axles whereas the kit has portal axles.
