Well, Antonelli might be "a complete rookie", but so was Lewis Hamilton in 2007, and we all know how that went! I think Kimi will take some time to adapt, but once he does, he will be insanely good! Hadjar deserves a seat far more than doohan ever has, taking the fight to bortoleto is something that cant go unnoticed. Yes, he will probably be one of the less "looked at" rookies next year, but I think he will definitely outshine doohan by a considerable amount

How has Mercedes sneaked their way up to 3rd? I wouldn't even put their driver line-up above Williams'. Russel is at best slightly better than Sainz but there's no way you could consider Antonelli even close to Albon right now.

I don’t agree with that, his reputation was mostly saved by Bearman’s F1 performances which showed that (having beaten Bearman in Prema) Prema was a terrible team in 2024 rather than Antonelli being a poor driver. His junior record is still leagues ahead of Doohan’s (that man should not be in F1) or arguably Bearman’s and Hadjar’s but is worse than Bortoleto, Piastri, Russell, Leclerc etc so it’ll be interesting to see how he does.

Antonelli finished 6 places ahead of Bearman in the F2 championship despite the issues and that includes missing the Abu Dhabi races through illness. Verstappen is easily better than russell and it is very difficult to compare antonelli and lawson, even if we give a slight edge to antonelli, max edges out russell by enough to be a better lineup than merc.

I've got a few things to say: 1. I think that Ferrari 9Leclerc and Hamilton) have the best line-up since Mercedes in 2016 (Hamilton and Rosberg). 2. Kimi Antonelli and George Russel were ranked too high. George, while quick, isn't as good as other drivers on the grid (Verstappen, Hamilton, Alonso and Leclerc to be precise). Antonelli is a rookie with no prior experience in an F1 race, and it's only a matter of time to see wheter he will sink or swim. George now has the added preassure of filling Lewis's shoes, and Antonelli will have to live up to all the hype. 3. Verstappen and Lawson should have been in 3rd instead of Mercedes. Max is an all time great, and Lawson has held his own in F1 despite not having a full season under his belt.

I feel that Charles & Lewis is over-hyped, yes, Lewis is a great driver, his last few years where Mercedes had issues in the ground effect, is something to take into account as just because they have big names doesn't mean they'll have the best lineup, look at the years Michael Schumacher had at Mercedes before he left, he didn't exactly set the world alight in those years, so there's no guarantees that just by having Lewis here that project 677 is going to be a world championship winning car, especially since it's not an evolution of this years car.
Lewis Hamilton used to be a great driver. After the last few years, he will have to show that he still has it. Considering it will still be a ground effect car, I am doubtful.

Russell beat Hamilton twice in equal machineries 1st in 2022, when he was new to Mercedes vs Hamilton who is the senior lead driver 2nd in 2024, on a car that Mercedes intently developed to tick Hamilton's car wishlist. Hamilton did beat George in 2023, but people forgot that George was beating Lewis in the qualis early in 2023, until Mercedes pivot away from zero-pod concept and focuses on satisfying Lewis preferences, at the detriment to George. Point is Lewis beating George in 2023 doesn't really mean anything in resolving his poor adjusment issues and lack of performance in the current ground effect regulation despite Mercedes attempt to create a car base on his preferences. Can Ferrari find a solution for Lewis? Probably, but consider that Mercedes were working with Lewis for years and failed to come up with anything. Can Lewis finally find his peak performance in a new team? I think this is more likely. Hamilton had been improving on his own and I think he is more comfortable with the current regulation cars now. If Ferrari made a dominant fast car, we may see Lewis winning races again. Problem is that Ferrari are still flopping every now and then. Also Leclerc isn't a push over and a way formidable talent than George (with year of experience working with Ferrari as their lead driver). And now we have 4 teams competing for the top position (with Red Bull cutting off their weakest link Perez)

I personally would switch Alpine v VACB and Merc v Redbull If Sauber is 7 because of Colapinto, then Hadjar finishing second should be over Doohan. Also Lawson is more proven than Antonelli, and Max > Russel.

I don’t agree with that, his reputation was mostly saved by Bearman’s F1 performances which showed that (having beaten Bearman in Prema) Prema was a terrible team in 2024 rather than Antonelli being a poor driver.
His junior record is still leagues ahead of Doohan’s (that man should not be in F1) or arguably Bearman’s and Hadjar’s but is worse than Bortoleto, Piastri, Russell, Leclerc etc so it’ll be interesting to see how he does.
@doobvids181 I respectfully disagree Prema made a mess of getting on top of the new 2024 F2 chassis. Antonelli finished 6 places ahead of Bearman in the F2 championship despite the issues and that includes missing the Abu Dhabi races through illness. Antonelli performance in the wet at Silverstone was on a different planet.

Mercedes ahead of Red Bull is crazy talk. Russell is fantastic, but we have seen nothing from Kimi yet. Lawson has been a fairly strong driver and shown that he certainly has the racecraft to contest Formula A.

Interesting that the narrative around Piastri at the end of 2023 was that he can match Norris over one lap, he just needs to work on tyre management. Now it's the opposite?
Unpopular opinion I’m sure - Norris is simply the faster driver (over one lap and over a race distance) and I’ve seen nothing to suggest Piastri will be able to match him. I honestly think he was closer to Lando at the end of 2023 than he was at the end of 2024.
Piastri is great on his day but the thing is it's only his day for 5 or 6 races a season.

The Ferrari stats Leclerc vs Sainz are wrong, Leclerc has 13 podiums in 2024 whereas Sainz has 9 rather than the vice versa.

@@kityhawk2000 lol fair enough on the assumption. Yes, Lawson is technically a big unknown as a whole but Lewis was struggling bad last year with these new cars. I'm not saying he's done for or declining in ability but he did not like that Mercedes at all and struggled on single lap pace. Now the reason, not that I have to explain myself, is that MV alone took on Merc and beat them, with lawson picking away points from Merc and possibly others, I see RB being stronger this year than previous years with Perez in the seat.

This obviously isn't surprising considering, again, Lewis' struggle with the car but as far as I can tell, the Ferrari looks even more pointy. We'll see. I still have all my eggs in the LH/CL basket.
I've got a
few things to say:
1. I think that Ferrari 9Leclerc and Hamilton) have the best line-up since Mercedes in 2016 (Hamilton and Rosberg).
2. Kimi Antonelli and
George Russel were ranked too high. George, while quick, isn't as good as other drivers on the grid (Verstappen, Hamilton, Alonso and Leclerc to be precise). Antonelli is a rookie with no prior experience in an F1 race, and it's only a matter of time to see wheter he will sink or swim. George now has the added preassure of filling Lewis's shoes, and Antonelli will have to live up to all the hype.
3. Verstappen and Lawson should have been in 3rd instead of Mercedes. Max is an all time great, and Lawson has held his own in F1 despite not having a full season under his belt.

I feel that Charles & Lewis is over-hyped, yes, Lewis is a great driver, his last few years where Mercedes had issues in the ground effect, is something to take into account as just because they have big names doesn't mean they'll have the best lineup, look at the years Michael Schumacher had at Mercedes before he left, he didn't exactly set the world alight in those years, so there's no guarantees that just by having Lewis here that project 677 is going to be a world championship winning car, especially since it's not an evolution of this years car.

Russell beat Hamilton twice in equal machineries
1st in 2022, when he was new to Mercedes vs Hamilton who is the senior lead driver
2nd in 2024, on a car that Mercedes intently developed to tick Hamilton's car wishlist.
Hamilton did beat George in 2023, but people forgot that George was beating Lewis in the qualis early in 2023, until Mercedes pivot away from zero-pod concept and focuses on satisfying Lewis preferences, at the detriment to George.
Point is Lewis beating George in 2023 doesn't really mean anything in resolving his poor adjusment issues and lack of performance in the current ground effect regulation despite Mercedes attempt to create a car base on his preferences.
Can Ferrari find a solution for Lewis? Probably, but consider that Mercedes were working with Lewis for years and failed to come up with anything.
Can Lewis finally find his peak performance in a new team? I think this is more likely.
Hamilton had been improving on his own and I think he is more comfortable with the current regulation cars now. If Ferrari made a dominant fast car, we may see Lewis winning races again.
Problem is that Ferrari are still flopping every now and then.
Also Leclerc isn't a push over and a way formidable talent than George (with year of experience working with Ferrari as their lead driver).
And now we have 4 teams competing for the top position (with Red Bull cutting off their weakest link Perez)

@puupää I toyed with the idea of Apline then VCAR but personally I think Gasly makes up the difference. Sauber is 7th because of Hulk and the very promising youngster who McLaren wanted to keep. Hadjar and Doolan are not near his level.
Again Mercedes and Red Bull was tough. I see Antonelli challenging like Piastri did in his first season and give Russell a run for his money, but I don't see Lawson on the same speed as Verstappen or Russell.
All of this is my opinion anyway.

antonelli and bearman got dominated by hadjar and bortoleto in f2. Dont think they should be slandered like this when it is supposed to be a list not taking the car into account. Haas should be lower. Also, putting russel/antonelli over lawson/verstappen would either mean antonelli is considered a astronomically better driver than lawson or russel being greater than verstappen. This makes no sense.
2 Russell's don't match half Verstappen. Not to mention Lawson already has some experience, Kimi doesn't.

I am not a fan of Hamilton, but Russel did not destroy him. Hamilton scored more points over these 3 season. He drove the best car 8 years in a row, while Russel came from Williams, so driving the 3rd-4th car on the grid is less motovating to him for sure. If the 2024 Mercedes was worthy of a title fight, Hamilton would have beat Russel comfortably.

Max Verstappen alone should be 2nd or 3rd regardless who is teammate is. Even no teammate he should be ranked 2nd or 3rd.
Hot take: red bull has the best, because if it's not regarding the machinery then there's no cars evolved that nobody but Max can drive and no frenetic over steering.
