I just scoop this XX Artisan from my local Marshall's and I agree with you 100% this is a great cheapie gem, I do recommend for everyone who wants a great cheapie in their collection.

I had a sample and I got that franck oliver black touch vive. Varvatos 20 is one I want though. I love that coffee scent. I got reminded of it again and how much I liked it oddly by boss bottled edp that just came out. Idk oddly to my nose they smelt similar in the opening lol

Great review. I tried this at Bloomingdales and really like it. It is just hard for me to drop full retail (even with my Loyallist rewards) on any John Varvatos just because of the consistent low prices when they hit the discounters.

@@power279 it doesn't really matter that much since the fragrance brand is owned by Elizabeth Arden. They still make Halston frags and look how's halston these days
Thought the Varvatos brand was finished ,bankrupt. A few Varvatos fragrances were good (Dark Rebel, Platinum) but usually the Varvatos line was notorious for poor projection.
I don't buy a ton of bottles. I'd rather sample lots of fragrances and limit myself to just a few different bottles. I considered John Varvatos, but decided against them when they filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

Yes, it was a hard year with limited number of new releases. And probably John Varvatos is such a good guy and all of you, dear TH-camrs, are trying to help him out of bankruptcy. But naming a John Varvatos fragrance "best designers fragrance of 2020" is at least insulting. JV frags are ... good, but for their price. You all know they are cheap, because they are created cheap. Low quality ingredients, quite low concentration. In general, they smell good but synthethic and generic. Nothing special, and nothing great. As for this one especially, the longivety is bellow moderate, there is some sillage. From my short experience the compliment factor is low to none. And it is rainy in my town now (a vetiver scent has to pop up in hogh humidity). Performance sucks, the scent is ... maybe okish, but deffinetly nothing great. The only good thing about XX is the presentation, sorry.

Got a sample of it, tried it, smells great. For this type of scent I much prefer Dior Fahrenheit though, and soon to try Encre Noire...
