Some people crave western food from time to time after being here a while including myself lol
I suppose if you are over there for a long time.
People don’t want to spend half their holiday on the toilet if they don’t eat Thai kind of food.
I had pad Thai in a food court and went straight through me so avoided all Thai food for back home.
Not spending thousands to be stuck on the toilet all week
Sometimes you just need a quick something to eat, and something you are familiar with will work.
But yes I have heard from people who live there that it is best to steer clear of street food unless it's hot off the burner.
Even us indians prefer fast food chains when we go there mostly

Either that or street food but you’ll get bored of it after a while if your from a western country

Transportation, why you don’t recommend to rent a scooter for a week or two it’s way cheaper and more convenient then always look for ride.
You mentioned going to the less popular spots and meeting genuine people. Where are these places?
tree town, jomtien rom po, jomtien soi 7 around those areas fair price for drinks and more chilled bars they are not too crazy. rompo and tree town is realy nice out door bars. im not a fan of walking street it is defiantly a tourist trap.and you will rinse through your pocket there.

Whats the cheapest way to get around in phuket ??
If your in staying in Patong and not bothered about exploring the rest of Phuket I would just walk, but if you want to explore around different places in Phuket other than Patong I would recommend getting a motorbike 👍
