I worked for Sligh in the 80's and 90's . I hand carved all of the carving models and samples for their production line. All of the carvings on this clock are machine carved from my models. The finials do not have brass caps , they have gold leaf applied. Dan
I have been watching many of your videos the past couple weeks, I feel like I am learning a good amount. I am shopping for a clock for my mom and wanted to educate myself before purchasing one. So far I am pretty fond of some Howard Miller, Sligh and Herschede clocks. Now I am starting to want a Herschede #230 for myself, and I haven't even found one for her yet. As if I needed another hobby lol.
So the clock on the left that Seth Thomas model e 659 I just bought that as my third long case clock she is a bit rough but I ordered a new weight because the previous owner some how lost it and I’m gonna oil it so it can have a long lasting life. But awesome video love your shop hope to visit it one day 👍👍
General Steven D. Lee 5683 there are still people that hand make Clock from the ground up. Most do it as a hobby and do not sell them. The man hours involved are astronomical. It would be as much as a mid level Mercedes and most people don’t respect that kind of craftsmanship
Sure you will! If not now, at some point you will. If you seriously want one, look at Facebook Marketplace for your area and you can find great used grandfather clocks very cheaply! I recently bought a beautiful Ridgeway with triple chimes for $350!

Seems like anyone who could afford one of these clocks would already have inherited one.
You would be surprised. I get maybe 2 of these a year, and they usually sell within a couple months.
