Hey there! I can't remember which video of yours I saw yesterday but, you talked about Rich Halley. I wasn't familiar with Halley, but thanks to you, I'm now really enjoying his music. Thanks!

I think I discussed Rich’s early recordings on one of my first few videos. Fortunately, he’s still active, recording & playing better than ever. Glad you dig his music!!

Oh yeah the infamous Rick Ballard. I have a ton of records with his stamp on them. Found a copy of the Barthelemy for 8 bucks. Anything with Texier is a requirement in the collection. Great stuff here Dave. Peace.

Long time coming! I literally was starting to get concerned that you had either stopped doing the U-Tube Project here or was ill. I know terrible way to think, but my Italian mom probably passed this worry on to me. Anyway, Thank God you're back and healthy! I must listen now and explore to the full, I don't have any of these. Thanks for keeping the project going. Lou.

Great idea for a new subtopic. I think the last 'obscure-ish' (for lack of a better word) French stuff I was semi-focused on pulling into "my library" was stuff from Francois Cahen, or Michel Petrucciani (both obviously not a guitarists), and then everything else has been French ambient / electronic or just pop stuff from France like L'imperatrice. You've sparked a slight interest now to start looking at more French jazz fusion from the guitarist aspect. Very interested in the Alain Renaud record. Thanks Dave - TONE

Thanks Dave. I recognized very few names, but I have at least heard Claude Barthélémy ‎- "Jaune Et Encore", and Laurent Cokelaere ‎- "Coke Tales". I start on the rest of the list now. - Chris

Hey Dave, Really good catching up with you. Really like this angle in your space here. As ever, this all sounds very appealing. Really enjoying the music playing. I'm familiar with the Owl label and like what I've heard on there. I think Jimmy Giuffre did some later albums on there? Your French is still better than my English is on most days. :-) Looking forward to more of these, naturally. -Carm

Django Reinhardt and Renė Thomas weren't French. They were both Belgian.

French guitarists, I fully expected Raymond Bono and Jean-François Pauvros. But great choices nevertheless!

Yeah so many great guitarists from France, so little time. Boni & Pauvros are on the noise / free improv end of the spectrum which is kinda tough to classify as ‘heat’ given the super-rarefied aesthetic... also not cheap!!

@@El_Bicho_Feo not untrue, but they often are pretty melodic, or so I find. And unless I’m totally out of the price loop, Boni still has a few 80ies cheapies. And you previously eloquently talked about Bensoussan ^^ keep up the great work. I’m still struggling finding half of the L’Infonie LPs btw
