      Highly appreciated. This channel deserves much more viewers. ☝️
      Will stay subscribed and wait for more great things to come. If you are interrested in more infos about Arcane: Riot and Netflix just launched a 5 episode making of Arcane called "Bridging the Rift" on YT yesterday. Highly recommended! 😉 Pretty sure it has to offer a lot for you (though not reaction wise I suppose 🤷‍♂️).

      Absolutely agree. This line showed how much Silco, even on his last dying breath, tried to tell Jinx what she needed to hear from a father figure. It's nothing about him, nothing about the cause, just pure love in a few words. He showed reassurance, love and forgiveness for his own death. The dialogues in this show are so good.

I just gotta say that some people are so fucking dense and just grasp at the fact that Silco is "the villain" and therefore "must be bad/wrong about everything". I mean, I think it becomes very damn clear BEFORE this scene that Silco genuinely loves Jinx as a daughter. That it takes so long for some people to accept that idea at all is just baffling to me. I didn't come to this conclusion until the second time I watched the show but after Sevika kills Finn and everyone sees Silco's reaction they think "Oh he wasn't sure what she was going to do." But...
    "Everyone betrays us.."
    I believe he thought Sevika was going to kill him, not that he "wasn't sure" which she'd pick, he 100% expected to die there. Loyalty is something Silco believes in with all his heart but being betrayed by Vander scarred him so much that he doesn't actually believe anyone is loyal. It's why he projects these fears onto Jinx, the only person who cares about him and the only person he's cared about since Vander.

    • @CastSenpai
      @CastSenpai  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're definitely right he is projecting his fears into Jinx. I mean, she has all the reason herself to come to that conclusion, but if anything she is so damaged she may not know how to even come to any conclusion about it at all. That said, I don't think he just speaks out of paranoia/fear, as we can see he does have some justification.

    • @Addam_
      @Addam_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh I 100% agree, I don't even really fault Silco because as I understand it projecting is largely a subconscious behaviour and after Vander tried to kill Silco, both of whom acknowledge the other as their brother, he had absolutely zero reason to ever trust someone again especially considering all they likely suffered and fought through together.
      Something I've seen a few people try to do is discredit the familial bond that people have if they're not actually blood related, it just feels incredibly naive, like Vander's betrayal flips from okay to not okay based on blood relation.

    About Sevika: I got to understand her better when I watched a video made by Schnee with his take on her. She's loyal to the idea of strength. When Vander failed to meet what she thought necessary for the undercity, she sought someone that would. Btw, schnee has some seriously good videos about Arcane characters and story - yours and his are my favourites covering these aspects of the series.

    Sevika is actually one of my favorite characters in the show. She gets her ass handed to her on the regular, but still gets up every time, and she's a master trash talker, to boot. Why I love her so much, though, is that they managed to write a character with such strong personality and convictions with her having only a couple of speaking lines throughout the whole thing. When she says "He won't be the last" is just... damn, so much weight in it. Basically, "I believe in your cause, Silco, but get your shit together or you're getting skewered".

    • @midnight1672
      @midnight1672 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Agreed. This is also why I dislike people following Vi's notion that she's a traitor and I'm glad CastSenpai amended this in the captions. It is understandable that Vi would call her such because she's angry at Sevika for being complicit in the death of Vander but we as the viewers should know better. If anything, she's exceptionally loyal to the cause and Silco even when he treats her shitty at times. I truly believe that, if things were different she and Vi could have been good friends actually.

      @@midnight1672 heck she even stands up for Jinx...and that relationship to Silco...quite heartfelt too. Jinx pisses her off yet she understands how painfully damaged she is and at the core still sees her as a girl when she mentions her own fights with her father.

      Yeah. In my mind, she never betrayed Vander because she made clear her discontent with his methods and his inaction. We are never shown that she was his soldier to begin with. And I'll add that, along with the Finn's speech, I really loved her attitude towards Jinx as a character, but more precisely 1) when she enjoys actually telling her Vi is back, 2) when she tells Silco that he needs to give Jinx time (no matter how much she does not like Jinx) and 3) how she doesn't seem to hold anything against Jinx for her arm.

      Also, I think it is very unusual for a show that to have a character that is at the same time a woman, a follower, and an extremely strong and independent character. I keep saying the same, the cut to credits is perfect where it is, and even if season 2 never saw the light of day it would have been a great stand-alone series. The tea party scene is the cherry on top of the tragedy, everybody loses. My favorite part of the series. The 9 Annie awards are well deserved.
    Edit: Not so sure about Silco being a "perfect" father though. He surely loves her, is encouraging and accepting to a degree, we can see that he desperately wants to protect her when Vi evokes the monsters of her past. But he also tries to make her subdue her "Powderness" which he sees as a weakness. A great deal of what Jinx has become, even though she puts it on Vi's shoulders, is likely to stem from their unhealthy father-daughter relationship.

    • @CastSenpai
      @CastSenpai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I would say he tries to make sure “Powder” is gone not because its weakness, but more likely because it is something he knows she can never get back, from personal experience. That’s why at the table he says that once Vi sees how Jinx is in reality, Vi won’t stay. He kills “powder” to keep Jinxs personality stable.

      I agree, he did what he could as a father, but did not help her at all with the trauma. He was not a good father because his solution to Jinx problems were: supressing all her past and drowning Powder (not dealing with it basically, just kinda justifing everything on the betrayal). He put a gun on her hand and weaponized her skills and intelligence. Bu what gets me the most is how he projects so heavily on Jinx. She even says it - he acts like it's the exactly the same as with him and Vander. But they're different people, their context is quite diverse, and his sometimes condescending tone irritates me a lot. Not to mention that I have the distinct feeling he projects all his expectations about Zaum on her too, like she has to embody and fullfil his vision for the future.

My point is that all things considered, I cannot agree with people that say he is a good father. He only brings out the destructive side of Jinx. His tools are violence, control and power, and teaching Jinx that she has to use those to deal with her issues only sinks her further and further deep her paranoia and trauma.

    I have reasons to believe Finn was working from "someone else", specifically someone from Noxus.
    First, when he's talking to Sevika, he says "There are bigger fish than Silco", and the reason I believe he's not referring to himself, is his attitude: on the previous meeting, he got clapped by Silco; you would expect him to either not mess with Silco anymore, or be angry at him and mess things up when trying to convince Sevika. But no, he's confident and calm, even when facing Silco. He suddenly being that calm even after the meeting, and even when trying to confront Silco, makes me think someone else gave that idea to him; might be Mel's mom, or it might be that "wrong man" she referred to (When she arrives, she mentions "the problems of your undercity" to Mel).

    • @noustrant
      @noustrant 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nice theory, many thinks that Finn is just a snake person well if you put his perspective he is just a business man not a warrior, he knows when to take a risk and when he just goes along with anything. After his last confrontation with silco he know that silco is someone that he can't mess around. The risk to do that again is a lot. To be able to stand up after knowing the risk must be because he will have bigger paycheck or someone that can support him better rather than silco. Just like a typical business man.

      I dont think its Noxus, but I do think it could be someone like Urgot, Camille, Renata, other high profile characters from the Undercity. I just don't see how he could be associated with Medarda. I think she'd feel she's above all the squabbling in the UC. But it could be an option.

    • @altabalder
      @altabalder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lockekappa500 It's kinda about how she does "everything to protect her family". So it was a way of acting and "manipulating" Mel's course of actions in case she came into the conclusion that the Hextec weapons would not be made. I'd say to incite a war against shimmer and force Hextec to be used for military purposes; but that wouldn't be needed if Mel agreed with her.
      Or so I think it could be, if Medarda mommy was the one.

    • @e.v4892
      @e.v4892 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lockekappa500 Another hole in the Noxus theory is that, if I were to guess from his accent and appearance, Finn might be of Ionian descent. We know Ionia trades with Piltover from the appearance of Blood Moon cultists in Episode 1 and from the Zed comic, so having a chemtech Yakuza wouldn't be that far of a reach. And if he is Ionian, he'd be foaming at the mouth to get back at Noxus in any way, shape, or form.
      As for what his Ionian big fish could be, I'd suggest Zed's master and Shen's father, Kusho of the Kinkou Order. We know from the Zed comic that he was funding the Kashuri armoury, not to mention his managing of the Navori Brotherhood and his influence over the Kinkou Order (at least, if he were to return). He had plans to take over all of Ionia, and who knows? If Zed hadn't killed him, he could've at least gotten close.

    one thing i wanna say that i think is an unnoticed thing (also very late lol) is in a very small detail of silco's dialog, before he used to say "jinx is perfect" as in "who you are now/who i believe you should be is perfect" but at the very end he just says "you are perfect" not jinx is, during a time where she wasnt sure which way she'd choose, while still on the fence and after being shot, i see it as a "no matter who you are/what you become, you'll be perfect"
    idk just how i see it and its so beautiful to me
    also Vi, i love ya but DONT YELL TRIGGERS AT PEOPLE WITH TRAUMA, i know what you were doing, but what she had wasnt a magic spell that you could undo, it honestly is what make the whole situation worse and caused jinxs last mental break there, i cant "blame" her, but its that ignorance of jinx's situation is frustrating to say the least and seeing silco only truly struggle with his binds when he sees his daughter in distress is so heartbreaking

    Sevika never really betrayed anyone.
    Her loyalty was never with any one person, shes loyal to the cause.
    When Vander gave up the fight for Vi he gave up yhe cause, so she left.
    She Silco started slipping, prioritizing Jinx over the fight, she considered leaving.
    With Silco she made it clear well in advance that she was unsatiafied with his commitment.
    Considering how she left Vander there is no reason to believe she didnt do the same with him, we just didnt see it as the show starts juat as she leaves.
    She didnt go behind their back, she didnt ditch without warning or notice.
    Her ambition was rather clear.
    She with the cause, as long as whoever is in charge keep their focus, shes not going anywhere.
    She literally sacrificed an arm to protect Silco, her loyalty is kinda beyond reproach...
    As long as youre loyal to her.
    One could make a pretty easy case for Sevika being the most consistent and loyal character in the entire show.

    Cool reaction, pertinent remarks, as always. Although I didn't expect you to be talking that much during the climax and the ending, I felt like I was watching ESPN. :D "I'm literally speechless"? Dude, you were speeching at that very moment :D Anyways.
    One thing that comes to my mind : the thing that bothers me about the scene where Viktor scatters Sky's ashes: doesn't she have a family? We know she doesn't have someone in her life, since she's interested in him, but ONE family member? I guess she didn't. Parents dead, no sibling...

    Just finished watching your reactions. Great insight. You caught a bunch of symbolism that I missed throughout. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
    There is one thing that I thought of while watching this episode. Jinx's story arc made me think of how much better Anakin Skywalker's arc could have been in the prequel movies.
    I have read most of the backstories for League Champions that appeared in Arcane, and I feel that while Arcane is its own story, and not beholden to the game lore, the position that the characters
    are at at the end of Arcane is fairly similar to where they are as Champions in the game.
    Some of them aren't quite as close yet. Jinx is pretty spot on to the game-Jinx crazy. Caitlyn, depending on how she responds to whatever happens to her mother in the council room, is on track
    to becoming the sheriff of Piltover going after the criminals of Zaun, with her trusty partner Vi. I think Vi will join Caitlyn in the enforcers in order to have the backing she will need to stop Jinx in the future. Viktor is becoming more like game-Viktor. Ekko hasn't made his Z-Drive yet, but hanging out with Heimerdinger for awhile will probably give him some inspiration. Singed seems pretty close, and it seems he is well on the way to creating Warick from Vander.
    Having the game-lore as a target to aim for, the writers on Arcane had a general direction in which to take the characters, which expands on the thought you had that the last episode was done first
    and the rest of the series written to lead up to it. That's what gave me to Anakin vibes. Anakin's fall in the prequels works, but was never satisfying to me. Jinx's story has been so 'true' to me
    even knowing how she was going to turn out in the end. This was such a well crafted story, in spite of having an almost predetermined end. Knowing that the writing team could tell their story how they wanted, I never felt that they would deviate too drastically from the already established canon for the characters. I think that they did a great job in keeping (or leading characters to) the
    spirit of the game-lore.

    I don't think Vander actually died in episode three, I think he just lost consciousness then Silco took him and had Singed try to revive him. Then some time between episode 3 and episode 6, Singed told Silco that he didn't make it, knowing he wouldn't approve of what he's about to turn Vander into.

    The phrase that definitely ruin Jinx for maybe ever was "you are perfect" in that context.
    This is the final validation. Means that she can do whatever she wants, doesn't matter how bad, because in the end of the day, she "is perfect" exactly like she is.
    And what she did was start a worldwide war. She not only aimed to the council ruining any chance of peace for Zaun, but did it at the most visible possible way. This missile will be visible for miles.
    Every nation that makes business with Pilltover was ok about Hextech because the University granted that this tech as an amazing tool, not a weapon. And now Jinx rubbed in the face of everyone that can be used to build a long range mass destruction weapon.
    The entire world will freak out. Everyone will do whatever it takes to grip Hextech before other nations do, even war. Noxus will be the first.

    I Really like your reaction and your atention to the details, most people ignore silco trying to avoid to make a trauma on jinx and the fact that Ví is making jinx suffer, not on purpose but the memories she is trying to evocated are traumas for jinx and with only the names she hurts jinx... My favorite thing about Arcane are the pararels and callbacks, and maybe My favorite is "make her go, please" like episode 8 when Vi Say she pretend to Chase monsters when powder was scared, and Now jinx see caitlyn like a monster/Demon how try to separate her from her sister...
    Little facts or easter eggs:
    The hexcore have 4 runes valor Magic domination and precition, on Game exist 5 runes the last one is Inspiration, Sky is all about Inspiration for viktor and the hexcore only change when took Sky's life and complete the 5 runes....
    The voice actress for powder was only 11yo when she recorded episode 3...
    You can see Vander Suspended on singeds lab at the end...
    On episode 4 the song jinx is singing is "get jinxed" the promotional song for jinx on league Of legends (make on 2013) and have a oficial vídeo, maybe can react to that to see a little more Of jinx after Arcane and how on 2013 they have some ideas for Jinx on Arcane ...
    Another pararel is the fact that shimmer is a medicine and silco try to make a weapon Of this, and hextech is basically a weapon and viktor with jayce try to make a cure with this...
    One Of ekko's lines for jinx on Game is "i have a crush on You, until You start talking with your guns"
    Jinx on Game talk with her guns, one is called "pow pow", the name Ví says to powder on episode 7, and the rocket launcher is Fishbones, most says is a fish for silco, but not, You can see powder drawning art as a child and one Of them is Fishbones... But the eye on Fishbones is for silco, and on Game fishbones is like her father figure on the voice lines:
    Jinx: "Fishbones, you know what we oughta' do?"
    Fishbones: "Do the laundry, wash dishes and pay some bills."
    Jinx: "Stupid dumb rocket launcher."
    Jinx: "Hey Fishbones, should we blow something up?"
    Fishbones: "You might inconvenience people and hurt their feelings."
    Jinx: "You're the worst weapon ever!"
    And one more Of jinx lines: You think I'm crazy? You should see my sister!
    Arcane took 6 years to be Made, Riot says they don't want to rush things until they know the season two is like they expect, and maybe Will be reléase on 2023 but it's only a maybe...
    Sorry if i write something on a wrong way, i don't speak English, hope You understand... Hugs from Argentina 🇦🇷

    Just watched all of your Arcane reactions. I enjoyed them apart from one thing. You seemed to have a really strong bias against Mel Medarda. There were many characters in this show with villainous actions you afforded benefits of doubt. Mel Never did anything was actually harmful in comparison, and yet got more of your distrust and ire than anyone else. It was striking to me, and maybe worth you considering the reasons why.

    • @CastSenpai
      @CastSenpai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I explained this a bit in a comment on another video, but mainly because I found her actions towards Jayce really manipulative throughout. For other characters, I saw what they wanted. For her, she just came across as a corrupt politician. That scene in the theater of episode 5 really made me dislike her. I did lighten up on her the last few episodes, though.

    • @hdbtftsg
      @hdbtftsg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CastSenpai I watched all your videos, and I am aware you said that. I am speaking to the fact that many characters in the show are far more villainous than the standard "corrupt politician" and you afforded them the benefit of being being a complex character with both good and bad in your mind/assessments. It didn't come across that you did that with Mel. If you are happy not examining that bias any further, then I certainly don't want to impose. I just wanted to share my impression, and offer it for your consideration. Cheers!

    • @CastSenpai
      @CastSenpai  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just too shallow minded with her because, even though I should have known better, she came across as one dimensional especially in episode 4 & 5. I was wrong about it. It wasn't for any particular reason besides me buying into a trope that would come to be subverted. Sometimes I miss too! Thanks for the comments.

      @@CastSenpai To be fair to yourself, I believe the show did that very deliberately to subvert our expectations. Personally I had several characters and arcs that I misjudged based on my experiences with other shows, movies etc.
      Our minds are conditioned to perceive certain actions in certain ways and Arcane does a great job of luring us into those traps and then springing them on us. Mel being the stereotypical manipulative snake probably being the most obvious one.

      I personally did not trust Mel when i first watched the show, and frankly I still do not trust Mel. And having watched literally many dozens of other reaction channels, there are _plenty_ of people who feel the same. She isn’t a ‘villain’, but she is willing to use amoral means to achieve her goals.
      In any case you shouldn’t be so defensive of her. People have every right to an opinion of distrust. And if anything it’s a compliment to how complex and layered she’s been written.

    I'm very late but just a few points that make this finale so brutal but special.
    Medarda took off her family ring. She finally was able to decide and commit to her new life. Commiting to diplomacy and against war.
    The council was to vote for Zaun's independance. Fulfilling Silco's dream and vision.
    All these steps into a new and peaceful era where interrupted by Jinx. Jinx manifested herself here and chose chaos and destruction over everything else.
    With attempted assassination against Medarda who is maybe injured or possibly dead, what will her mother do? Noxus could potentially force Piltover to attack Zaun or much worse even.
    Jinx really pulled off THE ultimate jinx of all time. She destroyed EVERYTHING positive going on right now at once ^^ Every dream, every vision and every hope. Gone. This is Jinx. Just utter and pure destruction and chaos.

  • @jubas-kx4hz
    @jubas-kx4hz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it interesting that Jinx says that Vi's voice kept her going and it wasn't crippling as Mylo's voice, for instance. We never see that during the series... never an encouraging voice, only paranoid, toxic messages. From what is shown, Jinx almost always reacts with anger, mistrust and gets out of control when facing anything relating to Vi. Arcane is a fucking well thought and well written show... I wonder why they chose to reveal only by the end that Vi was actually something of a "good" one among the past ghosts hunting Jinx/Powder. And I reeeeally look forward to see how this will keep manifesting in her mental state, and if/how Silco will play a role in her twisted manifestations of trauma, mental illness, abandonment issues and so on. I wonder if now that she chose her path and identity, will she have these voices so strongly affect her actions still? Her motivations from now on look veeeeery open to me. She does not seek validation/acceptance anymore, because she accepted herself. But she never did seem to care for the cause/nation of Zaum per se. Up until now, she's been acting solely on resolving more individual issues: proving herself, not being rejected, dealing with trauma, defining who she is. What now? Maybe she'll simply continue to do what Silco intended for her? She already unleashed war, for sure - but she is not a leader nor nearly as methodic/strategic/idealist as Silco. Who knows. I am SO thrilled to see what they'll bring in season 2

    I don't think so. He ever did.
    Silco and his partners redesigned most of undercity to their image and convenience.
    The simple fact that this statue of Vander is still there (and someone is allowed to care about keep his pipe burning every night) shows to us the deep respect Silco ever had and still have for Vander.

    Silco believes in the greater good, but he's evil after walking the path of a zealot. He's destroyed his community, poisoning it. He deserved that bullet. And let's be clear Jinx is also a monster who never took responsibility for what she is. She made choices, and they were all the wrong ones. She blames Vi, but she's a monster of her own making. Ekko is good by choice. How many times has he tried to help Powder do you think? I'm guessing dozens for years as Jinx filled a grave yard for the man who murdered her father. Everyone making excuses for a monster of her own making will ultimately kill thousands now. Kaitlyn and Ekko need to put Jinx down by the end of this series, and Vi better not say a word.
