      I agree this would be a great movie but now it would be garbage.
      They would make him transgender or some shit. They would have the scumbag being his gay lover and frame it as if it was about him fighting the system over their forbidden love affair. Not to mention the sacrifice "she" made in order to introduce the don't ask don't tell policy.
      There modern movie pitch written in five minutes, and I'm pretty sure I checked most of the boxes. And if you don't like it you are all racist homophobes!

    I remember this so well and watching it unfold live on TV, as I was about 45 minutes away from New Orleans. It seemed to go on 'forever'. We kept shaking our heads as we saw more bodies dropping while many NOPD officers were seen futilely trying to shoot weak 2" to 4" barrel 38's about 15 floors upward. Myself & a relative even half-seriously discussed going down there and try to take him out from another rooftop, as long as it was within 600 yards. We actually were better equipped than the police and both of us were very proficient with National Match M1A1's at up to 600 yds. That was long before police got access to Howard Johnson's rooftop. Not wanting to be mistaken for other 'bad guys', we knew we'd have to sit on our hands and allow NOPD to 'handle it', even tho at the time, many citizens were shooting right along with police, at Essex.

      I remember the guy who went ballistic and started shooting people from the top of the tower at University of Texas. Austin PD and DPS weren't real well armored but, they were reinforced by loads of good old boys with their .300 Win Mags. Still, I believe it was resolved by an officer/team that got access to the roof and took him out at close range.

      Reminds me of the movie The Deadly Tower, sniper of top of a tall tower and the cops didn't seem to be able to shoot him, so local hunters came out and supported the cops with their long barrel hunting rifles. When does the movie version of this come out? Of right. It's 2023.

    I'm glad that the people in power to save this marine from his court-martial stood up and did the right thing. The man was an absolute hero. You don't punish heroes for saving the day just because they had to bend a rule to do it. There's a time and place for rules to be followed by the book. But there's also common sense that should come into play, because some times you don't have the luxury of waiting for permission, and that's what forgiveness is for.

    • @J3diMindTrix
      @J3diMindTrix 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      So crazy that they even tried to court martial him. A decorated vet who has served his country and put his life on the life day in day out for years on end proactively enters a situation similar to the many he has put himself in before. Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to _punish_ this guy? Patriot badass and hero rolled into one and exactly what America needs a lot more of especially right now. If anything he knew they would not give permission so he decided to take it upon himself, and therefore the risk. He swore to protect his country and that's what he did. Highly coincidental also that he was stationed so close to the madness. It was like he got the thumbs up from the universe itself... Sometimes a situation calls for direct action without hesitation when there may only be a very narrow window of opportunity; he doubtless knew he was up to the task though and obviously, he was. Had he not done what he did the situation may have ended up much worse. And he didn't have to commit violence - he kept the guy pinned down where he couldn't shoot anyone else.
      At first I was way surprised I hadn't heard of this guy but then I remembered what today's mainstream media are like and then I understood. Just like the Dallas guy, similar situation, similar motive - barely any coverage.
