Travelling up Eshowe pass during KZN riots : South Africa.

Trying to travel home during the July riots, we took a chance and decided to run the gauntlet up the KZN north coast, via Eshowe and home. We had no idea if there would be rioters on the way home, whether the road would be blockaded, whether there would be people throwing bricks and petrol bombs - thank God it was quiet, so we didn't hang about, but got going and we made it home safely. It was great to see the local community cleaning up the mess that the rioters had made.
