- This sounds for sleeping video features the sounds of a train in the distance passing by, along with the sound of it sounding its horn as it passes. There is no break between trains, just one continuous train passing in the distant night. The one-hour visual features a bright full moon through the silhouette of tree branches with clouds passing by. The screen then fades to black for another 11 hours of distant train.

I used to live in South Tampa (FL), right next to the Air Force base. It was also a major port where oil ships would dock, so I was constantly hearing planes and trains. It was VERY soothing…still is ❤ You’re definitely not weird…and if you are, well…we all can be weird together lol

You're very welcome! Nostalgia plays a significant role in relaxation and sleep. As soon as I started making sleep videos I created a few coastal ambiance videos for myself. I grew up on the coast of Maine and often fell asleep during the summers with my windows open. I'd listen to the wind blow through the trees, the sounds of crickets and frogs in the pond out back, the distant waves crashing on the beaches nearby, the sound of the harbor bell and on occasion, if a fogs rolling in, the foghorn on the lighthouse would sound. I never slept better in my life than I did falling asleep to those sounds. Those sounds we heard falling asleep growing up are powerful sleep aids. Thanks for listening and sleep well 😴

Reminds me of my childhood home in jersey city. Hearing the trains at night at the PATH station. Especially if windows were open. It was a much simpler time and we thought it was so hard. I’d give anything to go back.

A commercial popped on about 3/4 of the night. Beginning and very end is fine,… gonna see if it’s a regular. Just thought I’d let you know .
I'm not sure what is going on there. I've had complaints before about ads showing up in the middle of my content. None of my videos have mid-roll ads for obvious reasons, so I have to wonder if it's a bug in TH-cam's algorithm they use to serve up ads on their videos. I've contacted them before about it and they assure me that if I have no mid-roll ads selected, then there won't be any. I'm not sure how much confidence I have in that assertion, though. I also wouldn't be surprised if it's their way of trying to annoy people into subscribing to their service. Even if they only do it a small % of the time, if it translates into new subs it's a win for them. Thanks for letting me know.

@@cloudunknown I know, TH-cam started showing ads a few years back on all videos regardless of monetization. The only way for viewers to avoid seeing those ads is with a subscription to TH-cam.

i live 1 mile away from the nearest railroad and everytime i have a mental breakdown those sounds are what cheer me up (i’m a train conductor myself imo)
ive lived around freight trains the majority of my life, growing up and hearing the heavy thumps of railcars full of sand and or coal or any building supplies makes it relaxing.
these train horns sound just exactly like ours, they sound just like the alcos that are still in use here,
would it be possible for a freight train one? (this just sounds like an engine mainly or either like a passenger train making its arrival, or a railyard in the works [multiple times have i went over to a friends house who has this same exact sound every day, lives right near a railyard])
something about the freight trains heavy thumbs and the wheels slightly screeching on the track is just pure bliss.
i love also the fact how they used the dash dash dot dash sequence. which is the symbol and signal for train crossings,

If I could suggest a modification, think of reducing the horn sounds to about half, but add click-clack of rail joints...to make a perfect sleep inducer.
That is a great suggestion but this is one of many variations on a theme. If you look under the "distant train" playlist you will find a few videos featuring the sound of distant trains along with the click-clack of rail joints. Thanks for listening!
Commercial was very loud and woke me
That is odd because there are not supposed to be any midroll ads. Did you start the video from the beginning or near the end? If you start playing from later on in the video and it ends then an ad will play as TH-cam now shows ads on all of their videos. The only way to avoid it is with a premium subscription to TH-cam. I make my videos 12 hours long so that a person can start one from the beginning and have plenty of time to sleep and wake up before any ads get show at the end. Thanks for listening!
Do you happen to have the same thing like this but with a steam train? Ive seen the other steam train ones you have but they have rain/crickets playing as well.

This track is my current favorite!
Yet , I haven’t found any including this one that understands what DISTANT means. Backing track is great, but there is no Distant horn sound.
I've made many versions of this style of video with varying degrees of distance. I try to mix it up to create something for everyone, as some people live closer to tracks than others. Some people hear very distant trains passing in the night, while others hear them a bit closer. Check out our distant trains playlist and try them all out. If you don't find what your looking for, I can always make another extremely distant one if you like. Just describe to me what you want and I'll see what I can do.
