Jack was really observant during this one. He noticed things the other's didn't even consider- like the hand being lower when holding rotten flesh then normal zombies. AND he was funny. I usually find him funny, but he was damn funny this time. Jeremy was pretty funny and talkative, too (And everyone else was at their usual epic level).
The scoring fell into an interesting pattern: Geoff won, died first the next round. Gavin won, died first the next round. Ryan won, died first the next round.
The reason why it's gone is because the thing they did to Gavin's house in Episode 168... kinda sorta broke the server. More than a little late, I know, but that's the explanation.

So from what I gathered from both the Lets Play and the comments, there were many ways to distinguish between a zombie and a player. A zombie doesn't sprint unless it is a Vern zombie. A zombie won't be carrying a sword, at least in this game type. When humans carry something, their arm is pointed down a bit, zombies are held straight up. You can push zombies, you go through humans. You are shorter than the zombies. Zombies look at a player but not at other zombies. If you throw a sword next to a zombie, they will grab it. Due to being on creative, a human won't flinch or turn red when hit. Zombies can't open doors, they only break them. Humans, in creative mode, will one shot them. Zombies don't move backwards. Zombies don't look around frantically. A human has to say when they are hit by a splash potion. I think that is about all, if they went into the game again with this knowledge, I wonder how fast it'd go then. XD

Anyone who complains about Jack in this video is a terrible person. There are many examples in this video that go against the idea that Jack just tries to win (as if he shouldn't want to) e.g. he threw his potion at Gavin first and didn't say that Gavin should be out. There is nothing worse than people telling them how they should play. Maybe they should just script everything because obviously you people aren't interested in watching them be real when they play games.

Anything they figured out (the different angle of the arm when holding stuff, the different size, always looking straight ahead, etc.) was stuff they just determined through observation, while other stuff (primarily the collision thing) would require actively testing in a way that requires either focusing more on testing than on the actual game (bad idea), giving themselves away by doing stupid stuff (also bad idea), or recruiting someone else to help them out (only a good idea if it's part of a temporary truce).

After a while, you just sort of walk through people as a habit because, well, you can. I'm sure, if they'd have put two and two together, they could have noticed it. Someone did, forget who. I think that had someone done it at the right time, they would have noticed it. I didn't even think of it myself until after one of the players walked through another, and then someone else bumped into a zombie to push it around. Still, it's something they could have realized in the game, mostly because of how much they've played already. If they hadn't played the game before, and so much, I would have said nothing.
This has been one of the best lets plays in a long time, and probably one of the best minecraft videos if not the best . This lets play has changed my standing on Matt and Jeremy, make more creative levels like this please.

Maybe if it's possible on console (I know it is on PC), make everyone a different type of mob and fill the town with a bunch of each type. Everyone would have to learn to act like their mob type rather than everyone acting like zombies.

This episode is easily in my top 10 minecraft LP. So entertaining, the concept was good and the general enjoyment level was off the charts. Even with Ryan being Ryan. It was awesome. My favorite of 2015 so far. Personal opinion of course.
I've done something similar to this in Minecraft, but the problem is players' heads are just slightly smaller than zombies' heads, so you can always tell if you look closely

Another way to tell if a zombie is a actually a human character: zombies keep their arms outstretched even when holding items, players do not. You can see Jack on Gavin's screen at about 32:42

Around 33:06 I freaking LOVED Jack's tactic of walking into a wall to look like an NPC. That was so hype! Of course he fooled Gavin, he even fooled me!
I laughed every time I knew that they walked right by or stare at each other.
This episode is easily in my top 10 minecraft LP. So entertaining, the concept was good and the general enjoyment level was off the charts. Even with Ryan being Ryan. It was awesome. My favorite of 2015 so far. Personal opinion of course.
I've done something similar to this in Minecraft, but the problem is players' heads are just slightly smaller than zombies' heads, so you can always tell if you look closely
have to love the point where jack and gavin are standing side by side staring at a zombie that's staring at a wall and they never noticed each other and just parted ways! xD

+Malicron I did it on pocket edition a while ago I have yet to change rays house to the new one tho. I did make butts the cactus farm Geoff's water house and a few other things as well recently and my next project is the new house
+Malicron I was watching their test stream the other day and they said that it's been fixed. Evidently it was all the water in and around Gavin's house that busted it. They managed to get rid of it and it works again.

Another way to tell if a zombie is a actually a human character: zombies keep their arms outstretched even when holding items, players do not. You can see Jack on Gavin's screen at about 32:42
