Over the last 2 weeks I went down the rabbit hole and found your channel after deciding to start biking to work. Bought a little single speed off offer up and couldn’t be happier. Already had a run in with a bike thief and had my secondary cable lock cut and my tail light lifted ... I remember to grab my front light when I went into work, but forgot my tail light. 😑 Anyways thanks for the tips!

I use my bike to commute to work and to protect my clothing from getting dirt and grease stains I always use an ass saver, a removable mudflap for the front wheel and an ankle strap in my right foot. (If the strap is reflective is a double win).
Another thing that is a must if you have a rainy season, is a waterproof jacket and a rain cover for your bag.
I really enjoy your videos! Greetings from Colombia!

The problem is not grease, it's the pant leg snagging on the chainring. In Latin America 18v and 21v bicycles reign supreme among the working class, and the outer chainring, the leg snagger, sees the least use so it's often ready to rip up your trousers into bandages.
Me, I simply bike in shorts.

Gloves. My wife started ride bikes a couple of years ago and didn't have popper equilibrium at the time. I always told her to use gloves cause, even in a silly fall, the hands is the first thing you use to protect yourself. And it work for her couple of times.

Great Video may I suggest that changing innertubes while riding is quicker than trying to patch on side of road. The glues I find in patch kits seem to lose their efficacy rather quickly once opened. So wait until your 5th or 6th flat. Fixing a flat should be done in the comfort your man cave. Once innertubes are to ratted out to use, Cut them up and use them for padding on handlebars before you wrap them. They're also great for points of contact when hanging your bike on wall. Just a thought.

I know you're crowd is mainly riding fixed, but this can do everything
the only things it can't do are remove cranks (probably won't be able to generate enough torque on it's small size)and remove cassettes

i would say riding fixed gear the essential thing to have as part of any flat or repair kit is a 15mm wrench or adjustable wrench of 6"-8" size since WHEN you get a flat you WILL need to undo the bolts to the axle to get the wheel off to either change your tube or patch it. plus if you ever need to swap or adjust pedals the same size wrench applies often enough to justify the expense of having one. *USEFUL SIDE NOTE* when changing or adjusting pedals the LEFT pedal is reverse threaded ALWAYS! this means its left to tighten and right to loosen and you should look for the L or R or check the thread direction of the pedals if you're not sure before adjusting them/taking them on or off the bike. or you WILL be spending $$$ at the bike shop big time!

I've got Hexlox on my bike, to keep the wheels from being stolen. This means you need a special key to remove the wheels, so I only need to lock my frame to something with a solid u-lock, and don't need to bring two locks or extra wires.
You can also get them for seat posts and handlebars. The only downside is that they're a bit pricey.

The fine is $325, yes three hundred twenty five dollars... A $15 light set is a LOT cheaper than the ticket.
They law reads you must have lights on your bike... it doesn't say squat about the time of day they are required...(here, can't speak about other places).

This is my first road th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and I have taken it out a handful of times and so far it is exceeding all of my expectations. I didn’t want to break the bank on a first bike and the herd is a great option for getting a fast bike with reliable components. I plan on riding this bike for many years to come. Thank you Sava!

The way you are wearing your helmet, you might as well be wearing nothing at all.

DasMouse117 the glue has to dry completely before you apply the patch with no bubbles or folds then press and smooth patch with the edge of the small box the patch kit comes in. After pressing and smoothing the patch, put into a wheel and inflate 10psi under the max pressure on the side wall of the tire. Also make sure you are sanding and scuffing an area BIGGER than the patch and it is clean and free of dirt, same thing with the glue, the amount you put on the tube has to be BIGGER than the patch itself. Hope this helps

When buying a new bike rather your a pro or rookie you should learn the in's and out's of your new bike and no a bike is not just a bike.
I carry like about 6 tool's with me only because my bike is a fixgear I carry extra tube el'key wrench set "one of these" MT-1 ParkTool, Fabric micro tool, or a specializ "hope I say the name wright" micro tool along side "separately" I carry a seatpost tool two in one tool "no specific brand name" I use to carry only because I was a rookie a "Lezyne" glueless patch kit w/lighter heat the patch up work 1,000% better my pump is a Blackburn mini pump 120'psi oh and just to have carry some kind of pliers tool or a key ring tool your going to need that to remove glass or thorns from your tires.
I am in no way telling anyone what brand to buy or carry or what ever your bike is not my bike you are not me and I am not you. Remember one thing we have in common getting on that bike and riding that what we have common. And wear a got dam helmet, lights front and back, gloves, bike U-lock w/cable, and glasses keep those ear phones out of your ears and look look left right straight look the F... out

Giro is a brand of Vista Outdoor which had the boycott last year because of their manufacturing of assault weapons etc. I suspect Giro probably create a basic design for their helmet and then a Chinese manufacturer makes it for them. As long as the helmet is certified it should offer adequate safety, it is the heavy sometimes cheaper helmets that exceed the minimum safety requirements. It seems strange having to write that but so many cyclists seem to think price is the main factor in safety but the reality is how much material is isolating you from the impact most of the time. A lot of expensive re-branding goes on with helmets, just because a helmet has your bicycle brand of choice doesn't mean it's automatically better than a helmet that costs only a third of that price.

Good points. I guess if people can't get this concept, it's too late to buy a helmet.

@@creativeconscious I'm in the UK so admittedly don't have full knowledge of the company or what happens in the US but this is what is stated on the wiki page for Vista Outdoor
'As part of the 2018 NRA boycott resulting from the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, activists called on retailers to stop selling all Vista Outdoor products specifically over the company's support of the National Rifle Association and manufacturing of assault weapons.'

Should probably add that i bought my helmet after looking at studies, in which price did seem to be a factor (at least in some cases). Helmets with MIPS and $200+ helmets seem to consistently get better ratings. An independent study also said that most impacts in accidents seem to happen at or near the edges of the helmet. For this reason, helmets that "bowed out" and had more volume near the edges performed better in accidents. So "urban-style" helmets, which tend to be the cheapest fared less well than typical road-style (space-ship-on-head) helmets.
