    Thank you so much for this I have had the opz for over a year and love it, never found a nice way to get it over to the daw tho.
    this videos a game changer!

      Really glad it helped you dude! People are always asking how they get their OP-Z audio recordings into the DAW but I figure if you are already going to hook up a DAW you might as well just use MIDI to make it ten times more powerful :D !

    Hey Ryan - I've been running my Z into Live since I got it last year - and like you I've found that using a VST in Live takes tracks to a new level - although sometimes I've managed to create a sound in the Z that is kind of unique and works on its own... I like that macro MIDI mapping - I'll have to try that too - and I like the idea of controlling arrangements via the Z... all super hip and proof that the OP-Z is a very powerful device, which is slightly let down by its internal synth engines... haha - but true - keep up the good work

      Cheers. Yeah there is always a fresh and new way to use it. I also find sometimes individual sounds from the Z are nice to I just audio track them in later and add them to the Ableton mix!

      You're welcome! I honestly think this is the best way to use Ableton. The limitations of a physical controller can let you focus rather than being overwhelmed by every single effect and instrument being constantly available.

    Well done. Thank you for this! I recently got the Push 2. It seems like there is overlapping here which I find it fascinating. Somehow the OP-Z is the piece we are all in love with, so using it more is only for the best.

    Hello, and many thanks for this awesome video, but for me isn't works the setup. I don't know what is happening. What happens to me is that all the tracks sound at the same time on channel 1. How should the OP-Z be configured to ensure that each OP-Z track separately derives the sound of each channel into the corresponding Ableton live track ?

  • @zababamusic8762
    @zababamusic8762 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    thanks, could you share the template ?

    • @RDiefenbach
      @RDiefenbach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The full template would only make sense if I explain how it is set up specifically what CCs are mapped to what, and the user may need the appropriate devices, VSTs etc that I am using. I will consider making another vid with a template explainer in future that is mapped to more global functions but it is a matter of what I will have time to do as it is a process!

    Hey Ryan, nice vid!! I'm sequencing Ableton too with the OP-Z using cc macro mapping. I'm encountering some glitches tho, sometimes wrong midi data is sent out. Do you sometimes encounter issues too? It's either Ableton or the OP-Z that lags, but I can't seem to find/solve the problem.

    • @RDiefenbach
      @RDiefenbach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, I can't say I have had that issue myself. 🤔 I would just double check the channel and CC config and that there is not doubling up but otherwise nothing comes to mind sorry

  • @Dandelunar

      @@RDiefenbach a little laggy I'd imagine. I have a lot of fun using it as a midi controller/sequencer in Ableton. I have a template so that all I have to do is assign an instrument to each track and everything I've come up with on the opz plays the same with whatever instrument I want to come through on Ableton.

  • @vagueversatile
    @vagueversatile 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Ryan, very cool video thank you. I don’ t manage to map the knobs, I don’t know if you have an idea of what could be the issue? I did exactly the same as you did and my OPZ is working fine so I don’t think this is a hardware issue..

    • @RDiefenbach
      @RDiefenbach  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi - sorry to hear it's not working. If you say you did everything exactly the same as in my video then it makes it difficult for me to identify the issue but I'd recommend double checking your MIDI preferences in the Ableton Live settings as well as the OP-Z app.

    Ryan saving my ass again almost a year on the dot! Do you have any idea on using the OP-Z's sync for e.g recording clips in session view?

    • @RDiefenbach
      @RDiefenbach  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the clock is synced you could just use the computer directly to trigger when you want to record new patterns into a different session clip row? If all your tracks are properly separated then this should be a single click?

  • @mauricelebrun6299
    @mauricelebrun6299 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you think Ableton live intro is enough to make music on your own ? I have the Z, a piano and a mono synth

    • @RDiefenbach
      @RDiefenbach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. Ableton on its own is a beast. I have had a few requests to cover my gear setup, which mainly consists of an OP-Z, Digitone and Ableton. It is always easy to get caught up in gear but these days you can do so much with so little.

    • @mauricelebrun6299
      @mauricelebrun6299 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RDiefenbach Do you think the "intro" copy of live is sufficient ?

    • @RDiefenbach
      @RDiefenbach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mauricelebrun6299 for many purposes, yes! It is at least a good way to get an introduction and if you need more than 8 tracks or whatever the limit is on intro, then it is possible to upgrade. They have a sale at the moment so I just upgraded to suite but I am making music on a daily basis. I started with intro and then later upgraded to standard when I became more interested in production. If you want to combine your OP-Z recordings and maybe add a channel with audio from your monosynth then intro can already be a powerful tool. I run most of my DAWless jams' final recordings through Ableton before publishing. I also plan to do more Ableton tutorials in the near future if viewers are interested.
