    Polaris didn’t wanna complete head to head because the Vanderhall would blow them out of the water.
    These are so beautiful and so well developed! Great work Mr. Hall!

    Hey, all. I drove one today (the BlackJack version)and I cannot overemphasize how damned much fun it is! It is extremely well built (think high end motorcycle quality, not Aston Martin), comfy seat with great side bolsters, ran like a bat outta hell with power on tap at any speed and stopped quicker than any bike I think I've ever ridden. The cornering was smooth and unlike some other 3 wheelers it never made me feel like I had to throw my body into the turn to keep from tipping. I have been riding motorcycles since 1975 and until now never saw a trike that even made me consider adding it to my stable. This one does! It has fantastic handling and the design/style is classy, not starwars-ish. Will be buying by Springtime! No helmet required but for long trips I will because of the road-noise and wind sheer, but glasses are a must and (in my case) something to contain long hair. Great machine!

    Own one and it is a TON of fun and drives awesome! We live in MI so it is not a long season but we sure love it when it is out. Have dealt with the company Vanderhall and they stand behind it and the support is great! We purchased ours in Sturges at the rally and drove it home and 800 miles a day and super comfortable and every care we passed it was all thumbs up and people wanting to know where we got it and that they thought it was the coolest thing they have ever seen. I am still a Harley guy but it sure is fun! All I can say is it is a very quality toy and you will love it if you have an opportunity to drive one!

    Test rode/drove one yesterday. Had never heard of them until then. It was a fun car to drive. Pure toy. Only driven in the nice weather. More enjoyable than riding with a pillion on a bike (unless you don't want to talk with her). Looks better than a slingshot to me. BUT, Polaris will be around in the future. Not sure how well Vanderhall is doing. I guess since its a GM, parts and mechanics will always be around.
    Its a fun toy. If I had one, I'd get the base model with the paddle shifter.

    Sonic engine? FWD? Automatic?
    First off, this version of the Sonic engine has 185 hp vs 138 and at 1300ish curb weight that's more than enough to get in trouble.
    FWD? I drove both the Venice and Slingshot and the fwd put down power much better than the single rear wheel. The stability inspires confidence.
    Automatic? The bump shifter works great for people that want to shift sequentially for themselves.
    I traded in a 5th gen camaro for a 2018 Venice and I have absolutely no regrets. It's like going from a Camry to a go-cart that can go 0 -60 in 4.5 seconds. Two different experiences between the Camaro and the Venice. Practical? Absolutely not but that's why I have a Silverado as my daily.
    Great job Vanderhall!

    I love the looks because they're quite conservative. I don't want to look as though I've just touched down from Planet Zog when I pull up outside a pub. I'd like to know how big the tank is and hence the range? Also, has it got a reverse gear? But I'd really like one, I wonder how difficult (and how expensive) it would be to get UK authorities to approve it?

    Thank you for the first proper review of this vehicle. I have driven both Sonic and Spark Chevrolet vehicles, glad to hear that drivetrain is in this beast and spared some weight. The two Chevy's ride, handle and have great pep for little sipper cars. The Vanderhall popped into reality right when I had a vision of the niche. I never expected the clean 60's Indy Car/Trike styling, and a few notes from the Audi TT. I was very worried because I witnessed a person consciously driving the mountain range on wheels - a Whiplash, a stretched out Can-Am was all the world had to offer. A good vid on the Vanderhall Laguna's or Venice's winter snow handling might be a good time.

    Single rear wheel drive in a three wheeler puts more of the weight behind the front wheels and will be far more unstable than this thing that puts the weight right at the front where the two wheels are. Looks kind of cool.

    This isn't a motorcycle, in spite of the loopholes that allow it to be registered as one. It's a minimal sports car, like a Lotus Seven. Its more up-to-date mechanicals mean that it doesn't quite have the Seven's "purity", and its FWD layout gives it somewhat different handling, but a Seven is about the closest thing to it. And those mechanicals, the auto trans and FWD, were what's available, lightweight and inexpensive.

    Wouldn't a helmet be required in this thing? It's classed as a motorcycle, so I would think so. Plus, you could cut down on wind and noise.
    I like that it's front drive, and it's way smaller than a Polaris Slingshot. The Polaris is 6 feet wide, but for the narrow roads around Hollywood (where I might commute), this thing is perfect and fits in the lanes nicely. It's about 2 ft. longer than a smart car, 3 feet shorter than the shortest Civic, but it's very narrow.
    This would also be easy to park I think. I hope it has a rear camera like the Slingshot, though I've not heard mention of it. Maybe it's easier to back it up than the Slingshot which doesn't have great rearward visibility. I rented the Slingshot and had some fun with it. Next I plan to rent this and see what's what.
    I commute every single day to L.A., and am considering the Vanderhall is a back-up to the bike, a way to take the girlfriend places in a way she can handle (not on the bike), a way to carry something bigger than what goes in a backpack, and for commuting in less-than-ideal weather or when it's really cold without losing use of the HOV lane. Of course the driver is still exposed to the elements, but with the body, the windscreen, helmet, heating (air and seat), it would be a huge upgrade over commuting in the few days of rain we get in CA. Plus, it wouldn't eat up too much garage space.

    I took a Slingshot for a spin last year. I can see the appeal, yet I was falsely expecting some kind of refinement.
    Steering ratio is too long and steering assistance is too lacking. Needs quickened up and the assist power needs increased.
    Foot box in the vehicle is so restrictive! It's like sleeping in a mummy sack.
    Gas pedal was extremely stiff. Think 5x stiffer than the average car.
    Breaks felt like there was zero boosting/help. You had to shove that pedal hard to get what I would even begin to call strong stopping power.
    Suspension was crashy, in a badly-damped sort of way.
    The little flyscreen would be the first thing in the bottom of a river.
    Made my helmeted head vibrate so badly my vision was getting blurred.
    Engine seemed to be well fitted for a vehicle that size and was fine, if the throttle didn't need a power-lifter's leg to use.
    Handling seemed strong enough.
    Clutch and stick shift were fine, this coming from a long-time manual-trans car driver.
    Polaris needs to get a lot of refinement injected into it. Stop borrowing SBS or ATV parts to power a large heavy vehicle.

      Brakes on the Slingshot are TERRIBLE. Like really bad. I'm going to test the Vanderhall soon and am hoping for much better brakes (and everything else). The Slingshot is also 6 feet wide. Way too wide for the narrow Hollywood roads, parking, parallel parking, and it even takes a lot of garage space. I love the tiny size of the Vanderhall. 3 feet shorter than the shortest Civic, and about 2 feet longer than a smart car.

    Would any motorbike rider consider swapping their bike for that thing? Only a disability would persuade me.

      I'd rather have a real roadster, if I hit my head hard enough I'd think about it till I came to my senses.

      So, don't make it an "instead of", make it an "in addition to" a motorcycle(s).....

    • @rubbers3
      @rubbers3 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's not a motorcycle replacer, it's an addition to motorcycles and cars, a mix between the two, and something that offers a unique experience. It's a three wheeler, and it should be looked at like one. Only car-like cars that can be compared to this are KTM XBow, Ariel Atom and Caterham. And off course all other trikes, like Morgan, Polaris etc.

      I'd go to a Spyder if disability was my issue. At least you're still straddling something and the cockpit still resembles a motorcycle. It's a wheeled snowmobile basically. Of course Spyders are stupidly expensive.

    I don't care what governments say, that is not a motorcycle. You sit ON a motorcycle and IN a car. Other differences, motorcycles have handle bars, cars have steering wheels. motorcycles have clutch levers, cars have clutch pedals. Motorcycles have pedal shifters, cars have stick shifts. These are some of the most obvious differences. the biggest for me is the sitting position.

    • @DxBlack
      @DxBlack 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cars only have 4 or more wheels. 3 - Trike. 2 - Bike. 1...well...who knows...but 4 and a frame is a car, anything less isn't.

    • @spacep0d

      It's a technical classification, not a literal one. So, if you mentioned you were going to show up in a motorcycle and showed up in a Vanderhall, a lot of people would be confused (and think you were confused). But for the purposes of HOV lane laws and vehicle requirements, this thing is classed as a motorcycle.
      Who cares though, right? You can take this thing in the HOV lane all day long without being stuck in some boring Prius. ;)

  • @comradealexie

    wait, so it's a $30k, front wheel drive, and it's an automatic? Why would you not buy a Miata for that kind of money?

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vanderhall: You can use HOV lane by yourself, legally.
      Miata: You can't.
      For commuters who want a little extra wind protection with heat and some performance but without selling their souls to the drone of boring and overpriced electric cars, this is an alternative. It's also small and easy to get through tight roads, easy to park, conserves garage space, etc. Its small size is a huge feature for some.
      In the Miata you're sitting in CA traffic, just like everyone else. :D Pick your poison.

    • @89Hols
      @89Hols 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      MCTeck they didn't shut down Victory, the consumer shut down Vic with a lack of sales.

    • @MCTeck
      @MCTeck 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When Polaris bought the "Indian Name" they quit Promoting Victory. I worked for Victory's "Press Fleet" from 2001-2005. Back then, they promoted the Victory brand .That all changed with the Indian name. The CEO of Polaris said"The Indian is a better horse"[Than the Victory} I do not want "Retro" [Indian] I own a 2015 Victory 8 Ball Cross Country. The Victory 106 is one of the most reliable Motorcycle Engines ever built...

    • @89Hols
      @89Hols 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MCTeck that is because Polaris doesn't have unlimited resources. Victory was losing money, big time, so Polaris execs gave the motorcycle division an ultimatum: get profitable, or we're pulling the plug. in 2011 the opportunity to buy the Indian name presented itself. Polaris smartly seized the opportunity. While the victory bikes were mechanically superior to Harley, the American cruiser market wants 'heritage'. Trying to market 'heritage' from a brand that was created in the 90s, is a joke.

    • @89Hols
      @89Hols 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MCTeck purchasing, and starting up a new motorcycle lineup is very expensive. Obviously that meant victory was no longer going to be the sole recipient of funds, so they were placed on the back burner to get the Indian brand launched. They could have just shut down victory then; but they didn't, they tried to save it. In the end they were selling more Indians than they could keep up with, and victories we're sitting on showroom floors. I don't say any of this as a victory hater, I love Vic, and wanted my next bike to be a Magnum. But in the end it didn't make sense to keep producing a less profitable brand, when those resources could be devoted to the more profitable and better selling brand. I understand your emotional attachment to victory, but unfortunately you and I were simply in the minority. It's just business, there's no reason to be bitter towards Polaris.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      "the American cruiser market wants 'heritage'"
      And that market is shrinking rapidly. Baby boomers are aging and getting out. Harley's are expensive and gen-x and millennials aren't that interested. The so-called heritage of Harley is cigarettes, beer, classic rock, leather fringe, women, pubs/bars, chrome, loud noises, and peacock-like bike appeal. Those heritage factors aren't loved or even understood by the millennials. Harley is having financial issues if you haven't noticed. Indian is really picking up steam, but playing the same game seems like a losing proposition when the market for this sort of thing is just dropping.
      I agree, Victory could have done well if Indian wasn't picked up. I think it's the egg and chicken factor.

    I have not read any comments below. I stopped watching this video at 3:07 out of anger. My pet peeve is anyone touching the yellow line. You are not on a racetrack. If you can't keep you vehicle within your own lane, your riding "over your head." As a fellow motorcycle enthusiast, "Please don't do that!" I'm sure there are many inexperienced riders and drivers that will see this and leave with the impression that it is OK to do it sometimes. It is NOT OK. It is a bad practice which we all need to frown upon. It becomes a habit for many people. In fact, it is illegal which can cost you your license, or worse, someone else's life! I hope your boss calls you in on Monday to discuss this. SHARE the road!

    If it's considered a motorcycle... Do you need a motorcycle helmet?

    • @spacep0d
      @spacep0d 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm trying to find this out. I think yes, despite the roll bars. Roll bars on cars with their safety requirements and airbags are one thing, but on a motorcycle? I think legally one still would need (and want) to wear a helmet...with earplugs.

Maybe they could do that with kids that don’t know what’s up but anybody with brains that are not smooth are not going to fall for that bull crap 🤪👍🏻✨
